SoCal Soccer Mom sentenced in Sinaloa Cartel money laundering operation

Lucio R. Borderland Beat  from: LaOpinion,  'La Voz de Houston', Dallas Morning News

To those who knew her, Bambi Adams was a cheery and energetic PTA mom who raised her children by herself and went to their various school events.

Adams didn’t work, but some people who knew her didn’t ask where the money was coming from to support her.

Adams, it turns out, is married to a Mexican drug dealer who distributes methamphetamine to the Dallas area among other places in the U.S. She was sentenced on Monday to 9 years in federal prison in Fort Worth for a money laundering conspiracy.

Adams pleaded guilty to the charge in April.

Members of the drug conspiracy, including some in North Texas, deposited his illegal drug proceeds into various accounts Adams set up in the U.S. since 2009, federal authorities said. It has totaled about $10,000 per month in cash, authorities said.

Adams had been living in California, east of Los Angeles, with her five kids where she cooked meals for them and raised money for her son’s high school football team. Her son tearfully told U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor that Adams drove to his school each day to bring him freshly-made lunches.

Her husband is Ramon Gonzalez, a large-scale methamphetamine dealer in Mexico who authorities say is a major player in the Sinaloa Cartel. He is a U.S. citizen who is still wanted.

“Gonzalez directs others to deposit money (drug proceeds) into his wife’s bank account that she in turn spends on any number of things, such as paying the mortgage on their Hacienda Heights home and purchasing vehicles,” court records said.

Prosecutors said Adams knew the source of the money, which was her only source of income, and traveled to Mexico 13 times during the past two years to visit her husband.

She was arrested in February at her Hacienda Heights house.

Her husband Ramon Gonzalez, came under the government’s radar after an investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in Texas in 2012.

Rodeo Nightclub Pico Rivera SoCal, and ‘Don Ramon’
A February report said that Gonzalez was using a nightclub to launder some of the meth proceeds. Around that time Adam’s L.A.-area home was raided and she was accused of setting up accounts to help launder the money.  Court documents showed that Adams was receiving around $10,000  month in cash from her husband who was living in Mexico. All the while she was taking care of her kids and was active in her school PTA.

Edgar Fragoso, owner of El Rodeo Nightclub,  allegedly told a DEA informant that the  Night Club was used for  narco money laundering,  serving  Ramón González "Don Ramon".

The DEA says Ramon Gonzalez is a major producer and distributor of methamphetamine who traffics across the borders of Texas and California, and has warrants  in Chicago and Dallas.

According to the criminal complaint, Fragoso also boasted of having friendly relations with some family members of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera and Rafael Caro Quintero.

Ramón González, 43 years old, is a man born in Southern California who has had residences in Huntington Park, Hacienda Heights, Whittier, Ontario and Monterey Park.

According to the transcripts, Gonzalez and Fragoso are ‘compadres’  working together on money laundering at least since 2009.

The Rodeo nightclub has a long history of violence, with EME, (Mexican Mafia) being in charge of protection for the owner and the club. Aside from being used for laundering, drugs was a lucrative business at the club, as well as prostitution and other criminality

After the  case was brought forth by the informant, The DEA  placed Fragoso under surveillance, and recorded all of his cell phone conversations and text messages.

It was a BlackBerry phone that Fragoso used for sending messages, it was registered to Javier Pineda, identified by federal authorities as an immigration attorney based in Santa Ana, California.

    4. 3:02 PM: .."her kind??" Is that a slag on women? Mothers? Terrified wives of abusive muther-fuckers? The DEA's due diligence on $10 grand a month from her husband, (who's at large, suspected and purportedly charged, based on allegations made by a sleaze that have yet to be proven in court) is low down dirty. Bad lawyering and the bullying behind Bambi's pleading guilty to her 9 year sentence amount to a miscarriage of justice. For $10 thousand a month, $120,000 a year the DEA basically orphaned 5 kids. Why not slap an ankle monitor on Bambi and leave her at home with her children. DEA launders more than $10 grand per minute... such hypocrites.

In the meantime, while the wife is serving her time and he is a fugitive hiding out in Mexico, his children are left behind to grow up on their own and to face the ridicule of their peers because now everyone knows that their parents are drug dealers responsible for importing the poison so many Americans cannot do without. Fragoso, you sure showed everyone that you are a loving father and husband who works hards to support his family. Here's hoping a rival cartel doesn't take you out.

As for the defense attorney, Javier Pineda, I'm sure he will claim absolute ignorance of the illegal activities of his client or that the Blackberry was being used to conduct unlawful transactions. Based on the information in this article, Pineda appears to be willing to prostitute himself for money. I hope the California Bar Association investigates Pineda and ends up revoking his license to practice law as he appears to be a willing participant in this drug conspiracy.

Seriously, or more seriously, the U.S. spends virtually no dollars on prevention south of the border. Virtually the only prevention dollars spent (CDC, et.al.) south of the border are for HIV prevention because political 'big hats' are afraid that philandering johns would bring AIDS home. Demand reduction is as important as supply reduction but the mantra of the U.S. is 'trail'm; nail'm; jail'm.

    3. So in essence Donald Trump is correct in saying that we American should force Mexico to handle their own problems. Build a wall between the two countries cause hell if Mexico doesn't want it's own people why would the US want them. The US spend enough on Mexico and it's not the citizens fault it's squandered on the elite's lifestyle.

  26. My dos centavos:

here is a woman that can look in the mirror to find blame for her kids now being parentless. BUT imo she should have cut a much better deal, and gave up her POS husband and all she knows about the operation, gone into WP with her kids and called it a day.

    she got a rotten deal

Lets look at another person. This guy was a founder of zetas. He had a 5M USD bounty on his head. He was a brutal executioner. He was captured and extradited to the US in 2012. He pleaded guilty on a sweet deal that would have him testify against his cartel and released in 2 years. His sentence was up to life,

Something not written about is how during this administration, narcos are cutting ridiculous deals and leaving prison in a few years or overturned convictions on appeal.

thing is, the capo gave interesting testimony, but without it there was a flood of evidence to convict those that should have been convicted.

  27. I agree. I remain suspicious that this is the final time we will hear about this case. I drilled down on 'public' federal docs and there is virtually no information in the public domain. Yea, things are often sealed, etc. but all there is about this case is a one page doc. The norm is that plea agreements are hammered out before "sentencing" but there are more and more notable exceptions to this. Perhaps, this is a head fake by the G men/women.

    1. The term "head fake" is most commonly used in Basketball. Players of use a fake movement of the head to signal they are going a certain direction but then go another direction faking the defender out of their shoes. Or, Chapo fakes like he is going left but tunnels to the right. "G-men" is a throwback to the Capon era and the naming of feds as 'government men'. Sabe?

  29. My input on this is I personally knew Bambi and her family and from what I saw she was always a good mom and made sure they were doing the right thing and getting them a good education and getting them involved in sports. No one is perfect and we all aren't honest people in the world . She had to do what she had to do for her children. I know that she never did drugs nor did she have her kids around any of what some of u are saying. She is doing her time. So just leave her family alone! I know she volunteered many hours at the school and as a sports mom, not just soccer. Baseball , Football, and many others. Remember you all have some kind of skeletons in your closets too.
