Z-40 says I'm a farmer who stews about La Ardilla in jail

Borderland Beat
Miguel Trevino Morales "40," detained leader of Los Zetas, designated as one of the most bloodthirsty men in the history of drug trafficking, told a judge in August that he is only a farmer who earns 40 thousand pesos a month and feared for himself in prison.

"I don't belong to any criminal organization,  I am dedicated to agriculture," Z-40 told Roberto Hoyos Aponte, sixth district judge at the Federal prison in Toluca, taken from a report filed on the August 19 proceeding, in the criminal case 110/2013. "I am farmer, I am not interested in illegal things, I am dedicated to agriculture,'' reiterated judge.  This subject was born June 28,1973 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, and he cut short his high school studies.

The alleged drug trafficker, is known inside as "El Mike," his alias and doesn't belong to any indigenous group, told judicial authorities.  He has no vices: he doesn't gamble, drink alcoholic drinks, smoke cigarettes or do drugs.

"The day he was arrested he was in a normal state," said a telegram sent by a court clerk of the prevention and Social rehabilitation penal facility. He is the son of Rodolfo Treviño Arroyo, deceased, and Maria Arcelia Morales Martínez, "El Z-40" says he has income of 40 thousand pesos a month from his work in the agricultural sector and has 5 financial dependents, his wife from a common-law union and 4 children.

Noting his physical details, Treviño has two tattoos, one on the right forearm with the figure of a cobra, and the other on the back of the neck, in the form of a painting, with the logo 'Hecho enMexico.

For the criminal who the Federal government, attributes hundreds of deaths in the last decade, it is remarkable that alleged leader of Los Zetas doesn't have a single scar, as referenced in the documents.
What he does seem to have is fear that something will happen to him during his confinement occurs in the Federal Criminal Jail of Altiplano and he worries about Salvador Martinez Escobedo "La Ardilla," his former lieutenant, with whom he had a dispute over a woman. "In this center they have us separated, because here it has been heard that he is mad and will do something," he said.

  1. What a big fat spinner El Mike is! Should be scared of rats in prison not squirrels. Wimp-boo-hoo-hooey! Not a scar on him cause he's a doughy bully.

  13. Apparently the relationship between La Ardilla and Z40 was more than business - it was personal. Having had some romantic relationship with the same women at one point or another will cause to occur. So when does a farmer drive around in an recent model Ford F-250 dulley with $2mil.US cash on hand with heavy weapons; send $1mil USD to Texas every mo. so that his brother could launder money through quarter race horsing company; drive around high powered auto. rifles. He's a farmer alright. Not of the legal kind crops though. Actually $40 grand a mo. in pesos is rich in Mexico. That's about $3,200 U.S.D. With that kind of salary you're not going to drive around with $2mil. on a back country road in Mexico.

Z40 is smarter than we thought, theres not much evidence against him other than he said that he said that he said jahah Z40 lawers got this!!!! Its all strategy, maybe planned strategy who knows

  16. It's just a strategy. All narcos at one point or another have claimed to be farmers or "ganaderos". It's the easiest way to hide in plain sight. Buy 100's of cows and plenty of land and people won't come around asking too many questions. As for 40, I think it's a little late in the game for that. He can play the Mexican judicial system. But I'm sure the D.E.A has enough to deep fry him. Expect a swift trial and sentencing A LA "EL DIEGO" once he gets on this side.

  22. Z-40 is screwed because the big oil companies are going to privatize the energy market in Mexico. The days of the Zetas stealing oil from PEMEX and selling it across the border are coming to an end. Private investors are asking EPN for protection from people like 40, and they're going to get it.

EPN will go to war for the oil companies, just like Dubya.

  32. Yeah right even he can't say that sentence with a straight face to the judge! What about all the narco banners, murders, interrogations, his brother arrested in the U.S, that includes his name and the banners he signed? I have also heard stories that he owns a huge house in Nvo Laredo had a hummer and brand new BMW and would hook up his teen workers to enter strip clubs that he got quotes from! Yet he's a farmer?!?! Maybe afraid of getting a real ass whooping from prisoners he betrayed or prisoners of family he killed in the proccess! Z40 is a BITCH for not taking responsibility as a leader!

He had three ranches and who knows how many horses.

That is what I'm thinking, there is more truth to it than not-but what is the deal w/ him admitting he is scared of anyone much less "la Ardrilla." It makes him look weak and I'm sure there are plenty other people he should avoid. Could it be some sort of a signal to someone ouside to do something? Kinda like Colorado Cessa hoping the judge in the Zeta trial would signal him with the word 'golf." It is weird is all I am saying.

  37. Does anyone know the answer to this (Chivis or Havana maybe?):

In the testimony about the 2011 San Fernando massacres, the alleged survivor said that Z40 ordered them all to kill each other etc, and that he personally killed one of them. But I've heard he had nothing to do with it.
Is that part of the testimony a lie?

  40. do you have a link to that sotry? I have heard the opposite which is why I am worried he will not be convicted. EVERYONE arrested said they were not supposed to kill they were to recruit, and Z40 killed the 3 responsible for the killings and left them on the side of a road in San Fernando right after the killings. Z40 was not there.

the survivor only gave accounts to what happened to them. BTW there were 3 survivors, but after the publicity of the first man they did not disclose that for a long while.

  42. Hi Chivis,
Here's the link to the article http://www.borderlandbeat.com/2011/04/nightmare-of-massacre-in-san-fernando.html
Note the message at the beginning about the validity :) On the wikipedia page for the massacre it used to have this story under 'alleged survivor's story'.
Where is the source that said Trevino killed the perpetrators and left them on the highway?
As far as his conviction, I doubt he would get off on a misconception about that story. I think if he gets off it will be because of corruption in the court, in which case it doesn't matter what he's tried for. Bear in mind he's already been given the same 20 year sentence that Jose received, so (ideally) there's no escaping that.

    ReplyDelete
  43. thank you.
I never bought into that story. It made the rounds on blogs but buggs had an intro as a big qualifier.

since that article most the players directly involved have been arrested and they said the same thing, they were to recruit not to kill. the survivor talked of his group being taken from the bus and told they had a choice to work for them or pay the consequences. that was his story. he played dead and walked many miles for help as people were to fearful to help him. even the authorities did not believe his story until the fly over.

a few days later the gunmen were killed. I posted the link to the story a couple months back. it wasn't my story I think it was ovemex. I just searched in the toolbar for posts about the 72 and went forward and finally found it.

then when people began getting arrested they all said the same story, they were not to kill, but the people all refused to work for them.

when I heard 40 had a warrant out for the killing I thought there must be evidence we don't know about, but mysteriously those charges have not come forth as a factor in his arrest.

I think he has been very careful, though a reader says he has a warrant for a murder in Laredo TX, but I could not find it.

    perhaps someone can...

He has been charged with five counts of capital murder, conspiracy to commit murder, etc etc. Rosalio Reta and his friend(the one who has tattoos in his eyelids) put the finger on Trevino. Also he's been indicted on two separate murder charges. El Cachetes and friends executed Resendez and his young nephew. El Cachetes put the finger on Trevino as well. Obviously the racist comments and whatnot get censored as well, but if you write normal comments and some don't make it, don't take it personally.

I live in Mich and it's unbelievable how women here will forget their morals and responsibilities if there's promise of jewelry and marriage in it for them.
