Cannabis Found in Packages Mailed Within Mexico & to the US

An anonymous complaint alerted to the presence of packages with marijuana, CBD gummies, and THC droppers inside a parcel company in Guadalajara, which would be destined for different parts of the country and the United States.

The Attorney General's Office (FGR) reported what happened through a statement, in which it stated that agency agents secured at the scene "several packages containing approximately 1.22 kilograms of cannabis (marijuana), three packages containing CBD gummies and droppers containing THC substances.” According to what was communicated by the authorities, the various packages with marijuana and products related to the plant were destined for Mexico City, Sinaloa, Zacatecas, and the United States.

The FGR announced that it delivered the insured merchandise to the Public Ministry present in Guadalajara, which will integrate the investigation folder before whoever is responsible for crimes against health.

In November 2021, the FGR had already announced that it was investigating a parcel company domiciled in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area for allegedly allowing the shipment of drugs.

Agents of the Prosecutor's Office searched the facilities of the parcel company, which resulted in the seizure of 14 labeled packages for shipment, which contained a total of 1.473 kilograms of marijuana, and four cartridges for electronic cigarettes with liquid THC, and 2.8 kilograms of the drug known as crystal. Likewise, packages with three sheets and aluminum foil envelopes containing paper with LSD, 20 ecstasy pills and a package of cannabis, a charger, and parts for a handgun were seized. The shipment was secured by the FGR and presented to the MP, which was included in the investigation folder in which the parcel company was accused of collaborating with the distribution of drugs.

On April 1, Guadalajara police discovered a package of marijuana hidden in a stuffed animal, which was presumably wrapped for shipment to a European country. According to the statements of the staff of the parcel company in which the shipment of marijuana was discovered, the package had been labeled as "household goods", but drug detection instruments managed to detect a suspicious substance inside.

The authorities went to the place to open the package, for which they found cushions and stuffed animals, which hid inside vacuum-sealed bags of the plant and covered with the stuffing of the belongings. The total weight of the marijuana that was to be sent was 2.21 kilograms. The authorities did not inform about the alleged suspects or the origin of the package, and in the same way, the details of the country of destination of the package were reserved.
