US Offers US$5 Million Bounty for High-Ranking CJNG Member

"MX" for Borderland Beat

Audias Flores-Silva

Today the U.S. Department of State announces a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Audias Flores Silva, a high-level member of the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG – Jalisco New Generation Cartel).

This reward offer complements the Department of the Treasury’s designation today of Flores-Silva under the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act.  These actions are part of a whole of government approach to combating drug trafficking and transnational organized crime globally and in Mexico.

Flores-Silva is very closely aligned with the leader of the CJNG, Nemesio Ruben Oseguera-Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” who is also a designated target of the State Department Narcotics Rewards Program (NRP) with a reward offer of up to $10 million for information leading to his arrest and/or conviction.

Flores-Silva was charged in a federal indictment returned on August 13, 2020, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The indictment charges Flores-Silva with conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, and one kilogram or more of heroin for importation into the United States, as well as carrying, using, and possessing a firearm in relation to a drug offense.

Flores Silva previously served a five-year prison term in the United States in connection with a conviction for narcotics trafficking.  After his release, he returned to Mexico.  In 2016, Mexican authorities arrested Flores Silva after being accused of orchestrating an April 2015 ambush against Mexican police officers in Soyatlan, Jalisco. Flores Silva was later released from Mexican prison after fighting his charges in Mexican courts.

Thank you. We had it in draft 4 hours after it was first reported. I waited a bit until more was known so we could produce a quality report. A lot more news came in this morning on which groups were involved.

  7. Man this dude is going to go out H2 style I guarantee you. Nice guy, typically attends palenques around Guadalajara every year when the pesados show up for el derby. Overall his people are genuinely friendly in Nayarit. There’s a toll before heading into Guadalajara in Nayarit and I remember some federales put a reten at night and I was trying to go back home after some business in Nayarit, a random comando of like 6-7 trucks showed up with the cuatro letras on the side, they got off kicked all the cones the federales put up to the side and let everyone pass by. To this day I don’t know if it was because a carga was ready to pass by and they wanted the road cleared but those federales looked scared shitless when they showed up. Crazy things that happen and never get reported in Mexico. Casi me vacunan los federales that day jajaja

      Delete
    7. @4:05 my family and I personal experience they have never asked us for a penny but I have heard of some places that do pay some sort of piso. For example, there’s a family that owns a good amount bars that we know. This particular family only pays around 5-10k pesos monthly. To put that into context, this family makes roughly the same amount on a single Friday. Other things I’ve heard is that people that are in my type of business which is running fruits and other consumables up and down the state also pay 500 pesos per load. From my honest opinion and personal experience, most extortion fees are almost always random, there’s some dudes that make boat loads of money but they don’t pay a single peso. I think it comes down to your family and the weight of your last names carry and how cocky and how much noise you like to make. To say there’s a universal cuota people pay around my area would be a lie although it carries some small truth to it if I’m making it clear. That’s just from what I see right now that I’m in Mexico. It’s a little hard to explain over messages but to cut it short the answer is yes they do extort.
