"We will demolish cartels by attacking their finances": Alfonso Durazo, Secretary of Security

SteveCtpa for Borderland Beat from LapalabraDelCaribe

The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, indicated that the new strategy of the federal government is to attack the finances of all the drug cartels that operate the country, on all those that generate more violence, among which is the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) and Santa Rosa de Lima.

In an interview after the installation of the anti-corruption and open government program of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the federal official stressed that the strategy of priority objectives implemented by the government of Enrique Peña Nieto was left behind.
"Today the recourse is being used to combat those crimes of another nature, in coordination with states and municipalities such as robbery to house, vehicles, assault on passers-by which are the crimes that harm society."

Fight the finances of criminals

Instead of going for a leader, -which once he is stopped is replaced by another- we are acting to combat the finances of criminal organizations, "that is why we have frozen 17 bank accounts of José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias El Marro" .

In the case of Rubén Oseguera Cervantes "El Mencho", leader of the CJNG, Durazo said that he will be fought in the same way, only that the research processes require time to mature, in some cases the investigation is less complex than another, but all will be combated without distinction, particularly combat will focus on organizations that generate higher levels of violence.

Referring to the National Guard, Durazo Montaño stressed that only this year will require around 20 billion pesos to equip the 21 thousand 170 elements that are planned to recruit.

"We have had meetings with the Secretary of the Treasury, we have been working on budgetary approaches, not only the creation of the guard is being put on the table, but also the possibilities that the government has to budget the initiative, without breaking with the objectives of no more taxes or increase of debt, that is to say, with own resources and budgetary readjustments ".

Durazo Montaño stressed that it is already working on the educational and legal design of the national guard, as well as its laws and regulations, "we are talking about this year 21 thousand 170 elements were recruited, plus 35 thousand military police, 8 thousand naval and 18 thousand federal all of them with their own budget, with their patrols, equipment and uniforms, at this moment only the expense is going to represent the little more than 21 thousand new recruits that will require funds, uniform benefits, equipment and lodging ".

He said that this year will be built 87 barracks with a capacity of 120 elements, so in round numbers he said that the National Guard will require this year, around 20 billion pesos, and the next will require a little more.

  1. 'Combated without distintion' I'm assuming that means all cartels.Wow adding up all the troops combating it well that's 100,000 but guess when it's festered without control for so long you have to more or less double your troops at some point to take back the country.

    1. 1:16 people say no relation, but both were from Sonora, El Negro went to live en el, DF when he was very young, raised on the Colonia ROMA, made famous by the new movie.
      This Durazo is 100% SONORAN.
--Vicente Fox says he is un Hijo de la Chingada who is going to betray AMLO.
Hitting drug traffickers on their earnings requires letting them work, looking to the other side and playing possum all the while, kind of like a pimp, expecting to get to the money after the action is over... That got Kiki Camarena murdered.

    3. 7:52 getting the job done like this pendejo says, consists of letting criminals do their thing for a little $$$omething,
just to wet their beak, while sticking it to the rest of the people with kidnappings for ransom and extortion, like bermudez Zurita and genarco garcia luna.
--Miguel angel osorio chon still hangs around as a federal senator, in charge of contra affairs as a PRIISTA
--But a few other former rivals that spent their lives crawling at the feet of Calderon and EPN are now rabid Morena members...
--Our dear leader AMLO needs to wake the fack up,
      and smell the horse's ass...

    2. It not that i don't like them...I am scared of them. My husband tried to teach me to shoot but i have a habit of closing my eyes when I pull the trigger. I don't see why anyone would need a AK47 or AR15 etc outside war. I threw my husband AK in the lake in front of our home. Next goes the AR.

    1. 2:29 AMLO is too busy dealing with the deaths of his good friends the poblanos Moreno Valle, the king of Spain, the argentinians and macri, Maduro, putin, Trump and Javier Lozano, and Platanito, traveling third class and eating tortas pa llevar, getting out on El Zocalo with the people, no time for BS with narcos and cartelitos, he uses very expensive toilet paper now because he is the presidente, how's about that.
After 100 years of narco-priismo, you don't want your problemos solved in 4 months, du yu?

  10. Suggest trying to go after those government officials who are reaping the rewards from drug trafficking.

Then maybe there can be change.

  11. A program like RICO would go far to solve some problems in Mexico. Just look at the extortion racket. Accounts get opened up, a bunch of same day deposits from 500-15000. Then the money gets transferred out and the account abandoned. Its not like the banks don't know, or can't put in controls and reporting. The government could mandate rules easily, and without too many problems.
You take the digital options away from the extortionists, and their reach becomes a lot shorter.

So of course this will never happen.
