Video of shootout at Cardinal Norberto Rivera's house

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat-Excelsior, El Universal Reforma

Mexico City.... Video footage from last Sunday when  an armed attack took place at the home of former Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, in which his bodyguard, José Javier Hernández, died, preventing the assault.

A gunman shot and killed the bodyguard of the house of Cardinal Norberto Rivera, located in Colonia Florida, in Álvaro Obregón, and then fled aboard a green truck, the Attorney General's Office informed.

The agent of the Public Ministry of the Territorial Coordination in Álvaro Obregón 3 started an investigative folder, after preliminary reports indicated that the one implicated arrived at the address at the corner of Camelia and France streets, dressed as a soldier, and knocked on the door saying that he would deliver a package.

The video obtained by the security cameras captures the movements of the three aggressors, who, according to the investigations of the Attorney General, watched the cleric for a month.

One of the attackers was found seriously wounded in a hospital in Naucalpan, state of Mexico, and will be detained after finishing his medical treatment.

Authorities estimate that it could have been an attempted robbery but have not yet confirmed an official version.

The cardinal retired last year.

  2. Didn't see that coming. If the man who appeared shot and collapsed beside the car was the body guard who died it is sad and pulled the oxygen from my lungs to see him gravitate to the cold pavement without the other body guard comforting him since he was likely in shock and calling for help. Watching the fella die like that was unexpected.

  3. If you’re going to do any type of security detail. Then take the damn time to invest in a decent plate carrier. And just wear it everywhere. A lot of can be prevented by just doing this. Too many individuals get lax thinking nothing is going to pop off. And then it does. It’s good this individual stood his ground and all. But him having no protection is a big no no. 4. Mexican cops always seem to move so slow and without a care. Anyone else notice how slow they tend to the bodyguard? No one cares down there about anyone but their own trasero.

  6. Looks a lot more like an assassination attempt than an attempted robbery.

  7. That pretty much shows everything and I bet that the culprits will still be free to do this over and over again.

  9. I didn't see anyone dressed as a soldier, more like business casual. The way he was dressed gave his group the drop on the security. I also noticed the second security guards gun jammed twice. Beware of what you carry, some guns out there are only good for paper weights.

  11. Dont tell me that the cops aren’t in it, see how casual they walk up? Not worried, calm, not even guns on there hands. I don’t know about you guys but if I was a cop and I’m getting near the shoot out I would have my gun ready and street shutdown. Look at every cop that shows up how relax they are, I doubt it’s becuse they are tuff. One cop even turns his back to the street? How does he know if those guys don’t come back to finish the guy off and your there only with a useless walkie talkie.. I know shit like this is normal in Mexico but still I doubt you get comfortable and use to it I’m sure they still fear for there life. Not these cops though they knew the whole way they even know they not coming back to finish the guy off or to retaliate against the cops

    3. they look relaxed but not every cop is trigger happy like in the states. Do you know how much VC is all over the place, so a walkie talkie is usefull tool. BTW, SOF works only this way, without comunication they are outnumbered and fucked up quite fast.

    4. If you look st the video you can see a police officer pick up something from the floor and put it in his pockets also the other body guard never went to try to help the wounded body guard looks like he bleed out what if he would of taken his jacket and helped him?? And also his weapon would not fire on purpose or he forgot the safety was on?

  12. Robbery gone bad or were they after the former Cardinal specifically?

  13. That Cardenal didn't seem to even care that the bodyguard was hit saving his azz.

  14. Second security guard shows us how not to hold a gun as it will jam often. Probably never even cleaned it either. I’d fire his as S.

  15. Looked like an attempted professional hit, not a robbery. Sucks that the bodyguard’s gun wasn’t up to the job (several malfunctions). Que descanse en paz

  16. At the end a man comes shooting outside, was that the cardinal?

  17. The second guard was carrying a Beretta or copy of a Beretta! He might have had the safety on. You can still rack the slide with the safety on.
