My Most Memorable Narco Video: Creel Chihuahua, 2010

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat

Most Memorable

A couple of Borderland Beat followers were discussing this video on a comment thread.  I decided to post the video to revisit or perhaps to be viewed for the first time.  I have seen countless narco videos in the last decade, but this is my most memorable, I think about it periodically.

Although there is no overt violence, it is chilling.  Rarely are we afforded a bird’s eye view, as a convoy of sicarios, set up for a hit in March, 2010 in the Copper Canyon of Creel Chihuahua.

Footage was gleaned from state security cameras.

At top wanted poster, bottom taken during 2018 prison transfer to Hermosillo, Sonora

Silent or with sound?

Personally, I think viewing it without narrative has a greater effect.  I am including the video with music but no narrative.

The top video footage includes the narration by the late, great Charles Bowden [DEP] therefore it is in English and an excellent account of what is transpiring, in his deep, slow, voice.  He presents a good argument that the sicarios were state police, that killed the family of 8, including a 14 year old child, but  they are cartel sicarios, the guy in the vehicle sharing coke is  Enrique López "El Cumbias"is the leader of the Creel Commando group.

“El Cumbias", was arrested in December 2010, at his niece’s 15th birthday party.  His brother was killed and Cumbias lost his right arm from bullet impacts during the arrest.

Without Narrative

    7. Just saying guy you have not a clue about this son.. You should stay in school and become someone good in life.. As you can see the business is some hard shit boy..both cds and cdj are the same like someone wrote the state split in half literally many people died as a result many families torn apart it aint funny you say what you say. In the sierras of durango chihuahua and sinaloa most know each other most were made to take sides some quit working or just plain left their homes. Life in the business is entrenched there more then any place alse. I hope God can bring peace to that place and all of Mexico as a whole.

    1. Charles Bowden is much smarter than George Jung. And Bowden's unique voice is famous on documentaries. George's voice isn't like that. George Jung transported weed by plane. How genius. In his day it was a piece of cake. His luck came in being locked up with Carlos Ledherer. Another guy who wasn't to bright. Charles Bowden RIP. You were one of the best.

You are at a organized crime blog, a great one at that, but this video is one that has been posted around the globe including CNN- I have a impression that you are one of those dudes who throw a poisoned steak over the fence to keep a dog from barking. irrational and mental.

  15. 1 of 2 of the most memorable videos out there, first is where La barbie interrogates some zetas he picked up in Acapulco and kills one, it was the first of its kind. This one offers some type of unique view that no other video has offered, even if its not HD it still expresses alot, you can almost feel the ambient you can see the cold, the steam on every breath, you can almost feel the anxiety on these men and see who is the leader here. An interesting thing is the difference of these sicarios with sicarios of today. This was a wellnplanned attack the sicarios are trsined knew what theybwhere doing and approached their target instead of just spraying the building from far away like it has been done a few days ago. And notice how these are not teenagers. This was at a time when the military had a hard time with these guys because these guys were also military who went awol. Same with the barbie killing the zeta, compare that to the one of lnf decapitating a cjng in michoacan those are kids killing kids. Other classics are the zeta killed by cds who has "z" painted on him and looks like he was either strangled with a wire or decapitated with the wire, and the edgar leyva mendez, the videos that helped get the ball rolling to all these execution videos

    1. I could never find that video of the guy with the Z painted on him. I saw it once back in those days but it was removed quick for some reason. He was killed by some kind of wire that twisted around his neck. Those guys that Barbie killed was an example of how cartels have a city on lockdown and capture other hitmen through the use of halcones and good radio communication.

    2. Anybody remember this brutal torture/execution video on this site years ago where its this guy on the ground getting electrocuted with his mouth tied up, the video is dark mostly black but you can see the electrical shocks. It always haunted me but when I went back to find it it was removed.

    3. Other mentionables:

      3. The uncle getting his head cut off with a chain saw. His sobrino gets the dull knife treatment.

      2. The 4 ladies, family of some narco, getting knocked out by a wood board and then all getting their heads chopped off.

1.Marisela Escobedo getting killed in cold blood right in front of the governor's palace and no one sees anything.

    4. The cartel chainsaw beheading video was enough for me... no more videos I get the point... I can still hear the corpse gasping for air without a head... I’m sure federal agents view these videos for their investigations and for good or bad the public that has the internet sees them as well... sometimes it takes things such as BB and these videos to enlighten society as to what is really going on in the world...

  27. What a disgrace, all those, off duty state police moonlighting as sacarios. There was no one to protect the town.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It is indeed a chilling piece of film but i disagree with the narrator making a good argument that it is police involved.

Never looked like police to me. More a rugged, scruffy looking older crew of expendable sicarios.

Why would police do cocaine where anyone with half a brain knew there was cameras close by?

Just a bunch of hapless, coked up thugs probably earning a small fee for murder.

No doubt paranoid to bits about when the Grim Reaper will come looking for them. And the early morning cocaine indulgence certainly wont help alleviate any anxiety.

The top man had his arm blown off later and is in the lock up. Who knows the whereabouts of the cavalry. I suspect a few could be withering away in unmarked graves. Killed by there own maybe.

No honour amongst these drug crazed, psychopaths. They are all on a one way trip to hell. There aint no comin back im afraid.1,000,000 degree fires await.

    1. How is that possible? Cumbias was el chapos man and as you can clearly see he's on the video with a bag of blow.. so why would Juarez cartel perpetrate an attack on their own cartel using enemy hitmen? Please explain

  30. 7:49 too much hate is bad for your health. Take a breather and catch your breath lol

  31. One of the most telling aspects of this video is not the attack, but where was the law enforcement or military when this was going on?
Point here is the government allowed these attacks to occur in places like Creel, Ciudad Mier, Allende... was it federal , state, or all of them??
Not like it matters because the victims are always in the middle.

How does a country like Mexico with a trillon dollar economy and member of G-20 allow this?

Easy to just blame ‘organized crime’ when they’re taking bribes or using gangs to do their dirty work

    ReplyDelete
  32. I always thought that group that gathered there in Creel that morning had targeted the big house with the family inside to be executed for not complying with certain demands from the mania. why does the narrator repeat several times that they were there for random rape and murder. what is the true story?
