The ex Mexican baseball pitcher, Esteban Antonio Loaiza Veyna, was detained this afternoon, Friday the 9th of February, in San Diego, California, United States, on charges of transporting drugs for sale.

The Sheriff's department of San Diego County, informed that the ex sportsman, 46 years of age, and born in Tijuana, Baja California, faces charges after being detained for possession of more than 20 kilos of heroin and cocaine, charges that carry a bail of 200,000 dollars.

The ex pitcher and ex husband of the dead singer Dolores Janney Rivera Saavedra, better known only as Jenny Rivera, has a date before the County Court of  San Diego on the 14th of February to determine his legal situation.

According to information given out by the Sheriff's department, Loaiza Veyna was detained by elements of the said corporation and detained in their centre at South Bay.

In July of 2006, Loaiza Veyna was detained in Oakland, for driving while drunk at excessive speed in his Ferrari. In the same month, but in 2013, the ex pitcher was arrested in Tijuana together with various persons who were caught drinking beer in a taxi in the North Zone of the city.

Loaiza Veyna played with major league teams in the United States: the Philadelphia Phillies, the Chicago White Sox, the New York Yankees, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics, with who, he signed a contract for 21.4 million dollars.

He also played with the Red Devils of Mexico City and with the Aguilas de Mexicali, in the Mexican Pacific league. In addition, the Mexican baseball player was the starting pitcher in the 70th anniversary game of the American League, during the All-Star game, held in Chicago in 2003.

  1. Saw this story in another source, but the $200,000 was his bail, not the possible fine. He earned over $50 million in his MLB career.

    2. Goes to show that bad choices are being executed by all means ( rich or poor ). Life can best be exemplified like a chess game. A wrong move ( choice ) can alter ones life.

  2. He must have been struggling financially, to get involved at that level. Debts and lifestyle to maintain. It has been, what 10 years since he played professionally?

    1. Booking agency are not allow to lower bail only when there is a warrant with a lower bail than original charges. There are three charges on the booking info each charge carries a bail of $1,000,000. Some how he got a lower bail but has a Chula Vista Court date. He probably got busted by the border task force and HSI does not want to sign the cards. Always follow the trail of paper and money...

  12. My sympathies . This is some bad trouble he is in . Oh not to this ass hole . My sympathies go to all the people this asshole helped to infect with his shit . He better be glad I don't decide his fate . But he cooperated anyway . To much flight risk . He could have never gotten out of jail especially with only a 200,000 bond . Its not like he lives in poverty and 200,000 would destroy would be such a impact . you know with mama daddy and grandma losing their homes . If he don't have a alternative plan he will . Let somebody like this plea bargain for probation in my part of the world . The elected officials great grand children would carry the stigma .

    1. I'm pretty sure the 40+ pounds of coke makes him ineligible for probation.

  18. What I find kind of odd that the arresting agency was the SD Sherrif’s Dept and all of his charges are not federal charges but state charges? With that much drugs, and close to the the border, any federal agency would have taken over and filed charges in federal court?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Its only federal when one is busted crossing state or country borders

    2. 11:04 . That right . He may get rearrested by the feds

  26. This dude is a POS... I managed a club(Cowboys Dance Hall) in Arlington, Tx when he played for the Texas Rangers and he would come in frequently. He would get really drunk and take a bartender or a tub girl to a hotel nearby and then go home to his wife Christina Varraso. He would even get drunk on the nights before he pitched.
His wife finally left him when he got teammate catcher Pudge Rodriguez' nanny pregnant, a 20 year old girl at the time. The boy is 17 years old and lives in Southlake, Tx and from I've heard he would rarely come back to visit the kid. I think he also has another son that he never even met or payed any child support. This dumb ass made 44 million dollars durring his career and blew it all.

  28. Goes to show that just because a person is rich because he played or plays a sport he can still have no class and can be a low life. Just look at countless NBA stars also and even football players. Money does not make the person better than others unfortunately here in the states people worship rich people!
