Mexican Marines are primarily used against CdG and Los Zetas

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Milenio article

Subject Matter: Mexican Marines
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

Even though they operate against all in Tamaulipas, their operations extend to Coahuila and Nuevo Laredo, where they located El Lazca and El Z-40, among others.

Reporter: Ruben Mosso
The Secretary of the Marines is an institution that has delivered the heaviest blows that have been delivered this sexenio against the leaders, operators and lieutenants of the Cartel del Golfo and Los Zetas, criminal organizations that have a major presence in Tamaulipas for the last 17 years.

According to the information from the Navy, since 2012 they have taken down or arrested 15 operators of the top level in the municipalities of Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo, where there have been constant confrontations with the Federal forces or executions between rival cells.

However, the displacement of some criminals prompted the Special Forces of the Navy to hunt out in Coahuila and Nuevo Leon, the leaders of the these groups, where they were finally caught or killed in clashes.

The information provided by the General Staff and by the Special Operations Unit of the Mexican Navy also reports successful operations against the CJNG, Sinaloa Cartel, Guerreros Unidos, La Familia Michoacana and the Beltran Leyva Organization.

For example, special forces killed Ezequiel Cardenas Guillen, Tony Tormenta, leader of the Gulf Cartel and brother of the Capo Osiel Cardenas Guillen, El Matamigos.

On September 12, 2012, Jorge Eduardo Costilla, El Coss, leader of the Cartel del Golfo was captured by Special Forces of the Navy in Tampico.

The Navy also killed Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, El Lazca or The Executioner, leader and one of the founders of Los Zetas, after a clash in the town of Sabinas, Coahuila, on October 6th of that year.

El Lazca
Another of the strikes that stand out is the arrest of Tomas Mauricio Sifuentes Garcia, El Mega, Plaza boss for Saltillo, on December 12th of that year, designated as responsible for the assassination of the Executive Secretary of the Electoral Institute for Citizens Participation of Coahuila, Natanael Rivera Gutierrez.

El Mega
On July 14, 2013, the Navy captured Z-40, considered the most bloodthirsty criminal of Los Zetas, who was located on a dirt road that connects Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon.

In February of 2016, the Navy found Juan Francisco Carrizales Lara, El Metro 98, alleged Plaza boss of the Cartel del Golfo, he was detained in Monterrey.

Two Revised Amparos

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation will review two amparos related to people who were identified in the last six years of being members of a gang of kidnappers Los Zodiacs, an organization linked to a french woman Florence Cassez.

The matter was handed over to Minister Alfredo Gutierrez Ortiz Mena, who in 2013 voted in favor of sheltering Florence, and who allowed her release, due to irregularities committed during her detention.

One of the complainants is Rene Vallarta Cisneros, brother of Israel Vallarta, the latter who was identified as the leader of Los Zodiacos and the partner of Florence Cassez. The other plaintiff is his nephew Juan Carlos Cortes Vallarta. Both demand that they be recognized as self incriminated due to torture, an action on which they blame four Federal policemen and their superiors.

In 2006 a court acquitted Rene Vallarta and Carlos Cortes of kidnapped and organized crime, a decision that annulled sentences of 37 years and 33 years in prison respectively.

  4. No matter what anyone says the CDG and Los Zetas are the most feared of all the cartels. The Mexican government may be corrupt but they aren't stupid. The two cartels may not be the most affluent, rich or powerful cartels but they are the most dangerous when it comes to public safety.

    2. The worst threat to mexicans public security are the mexican government sicarios working "public security matters" federal police, soldiers and marinelas, state police too, and municipales that know everything that goes on.
Then you have the SSP of genarco garcia luna and his montages, the staged news and arrests like this 'gang' of Los Zodiacs, "el mochaorejas", "la flor", "los petricciolets"and a their invented madas.to get ransoms and impunity that made garcia luna millions and millions of dollars for his golden retirement in exile.

  7. Wondering if there is a personal grudge towards these cartels. If what's indicating is true? The relentless pursuit to capture, kill or apprehend such individuals may show bias.
Nevertheless these cartel groups have been menacing to the way they operate. Taking violence to an extreme which the country never experienced before.
    Great job Otis

  8. Gdg and zetas are just small gangs fighting each other, not cartels anymore. Soon cjng. Cds, beltranes will be operating in those areas, its only a matter of time before those gangs get dismantled.

    1. People have said this since Chapo tried to invade Tamaulipas to capitalize on the CDG-Zetas split. After all these years CDG and Zetas are still the dominant force in Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Veracruz, Zacatecas, Coahuila, SLP, and Tabasco. Plus the cells in Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Estado de Mexico, Puebla, Mexico City, Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán. Obviously, CDG and Los Z are far less cohesive organizations than they were even 3 or 4 years ago. However, to dismiss them as mere street gangs misrepresents their operational capacity. The various branches of CDG and los Z still control the most valuable drug trafficking routes (Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Matamoros, the Frontera Chica, Piedras Negras, and Acuña) in Mexico. CDS only controls the far less profitable Sonora border.

    2. It's 2017 and how long have the internet commandos been saying the CDG and Zetas were done? The Chapitos aren't the smartest narcos in Mexico but even they aren't loco enough to make a play against either cartel. Papì had the swollen nuts to at least try but even he gave up. Plus Mayo would advise the narco Jrs against another invasion of NE Mexico. If it wasn't for the Zetas and La Linea supporting the BLO they would be extinct. I doubt Chapo Isidro will bite the hands that kept him from flat lining. CDS and CJNG should be happy with the plazas they currently have and stay in their lane.

    3. You lack understanding of how the cdg and zetas dominate their home state of tamaulipas. Cds beltranes or menchos chapulines cartel can step in tamaulipas and will get destroyed. And from tamaulipas cdg runs other states. Also if you dont think that the cdg moves drugs. Look at the busts on nort tamaulipas and border towns like brownsville and mcallen all the way to laredo. You dont know what the fuck your talking about.

      Delete
    4. 8:55 I agree with you, cjng is the most dominant cartel now. Seems like cdg and zetas are going to be out the game fast. The government is after them for a reason, they want to make way for someone else just like la familia in michoacan got taken out to make room for cjng. 3:54 don't know nada

    5. I completely agree that a city like tijuana the biggest crossing in the world pumps more drugs in the usa also juarez. But no one organization runs those cities so no one organization reaps all the benefits.cdg pours it's drugs from the gulf to nuevo Laredo. And thru nuevo laredo there is more 18wheelers coming thru than any other crossing very important plaza.Who the fucks cares about tijuana or fucking juarez. Look at fucking a map.they control a lot of the border.cdg is way underrated.

    6. I beg to differ. Look at border patrol. All their resources go to Texas. Why? Because all the door and illegals come thru there! AND WHO RUNS THE TEXAS BORDER? C. D. G.

    8. @10:25 for your information.. Juarez borders Texas and there is no way weak-ass CDG has any part in it .. and I'll give you this tamalipas for the most part is best known for human trafficking operations (which is the main battle BP fights) due to the proximity of all the little pueblitos north of the Rio Grande.. tijuana and juarez are known for pushing dope every body in every pinta of the US knows this ( i did 5yrs in Maricopa).. these plazas are known in the underworld for having numerous tunnels (along with Nogales, AP and SLRC)... it is impossible to build tunnels in tamaulipas because the rio grande will cave in on your ass.. simple geography will defeat a cartel everytime..

    12. So you think my boy Juarez will always be Carrillo Fuentes and Beltran Leyva has made it this far because their boys are always willing to die no matter the out come that's a fact son. Y'all act like CDG is the only cartel pushing weight through their borders. If that was the case BLO organization wouldn't be in NL and Texas moving dope. Chinolas push dope through any border cities ask Jesus albino Quintero how he ran drugs through CDG turf all the way down for Veracruz.

      Delete
    13. 11:50 any cartel can use any crossing as long as they pay the price. Even the "mighty" CDSnitches pay piso. If you don't pay or you get caught moving weight without a pass you best believe your product gets jacked. Bro that's drug trafficking 101.

    15. Some of you fuckers don't k ow shit! like 5:42 the most human trafficking is done in Tijuana incase you didn't know that's basically where it started... why do you think there's a bunch of asians in cali? plus most Juarez is right next to New Mexico look at the map don't be a dumbass of course that area is controlled by someone else but to call C.D.G. weak I don't think so! even though they have a lot of in fighting they will still roll over any C.D.S. that gets in their way... It's been proven CDS sicarios are not built for war CDG is battle hardened!

      Delete
    16. @ 1:47 i have no take on this .. but i can tell you this i've served in the US Armed Forces for nearly 14 years and judging by the pictures posted on this and other websites, i would not be concerned about CDG and their sicarios.. those are kids no older than 16 who probably have never learned to wipe their ass cause they are too poor to buy toilet paper.. they are so skinny and malnourished that they couldn't possibly fire with any kind of precision.. on the other hand I've seen some pics from CDS sicarios I believe they were los Antrax and they looked like beasts in comparison to weak little teens from tamaulipas.. some looked like they played football

      Delete
    17. 4:51 you don't have to be built like a NFL LB to shoot a gun. And 90% of Los Antrax are either dead or in prison.

      Delete
    18. 4:51 Don't confuse your years in garrison with actual work in the field. Also what you see online doesn't even scratch the surface of the actual truth. CDG and Zetas are very powerful groups in their own right. The malnourished operators you speak of are at most halcones (hawks) or low level operators. The real players are hardly malnourished. And the top tier guys tend 2 get 2 confident in their positions. Which is why most of them get a bit heavy in weight. But if 4 any reason you doubt what I say then I'd recommend you come down into Mexico. There's really nothing like seeing things 4 yourself. - Sol Prendido

  9. Still dumbfounded by the governments official report of El Lazca being killed? Where evidence is truly against such since no DNA or proof was given.
However I do see a pattern as to the number of such apprehensions and military interventions towards these 2 groups. Definitely a valid question as to such a determination of such from government. Where once these cartels had political affiliations beyond those who wish they had. An organization of power and control.
Shifting political elements have been implemented to favor others recently.
Political moves by those anonymous elite.

This website was on life support with your absence. Hopefully a well deserved vacation.

  14. It's a well known secret that the Mexican government and army generals are in the pockets of the Sinaloa cartel and therefor the army is like an extended armed wing of the Sinaloa cartel used to get rid of the Zetas and the Gulf cartel. Good riddence to bad rubbish but what about the other rubbish like tje Templars, CJNG, Sinaloa cartel, etc. Who gets rid of them and how ? Well Mexico is a narco state and the highest bidders buyout their godfathers ( Mexican government, CIA and Mexican army). But if the narcos rub their godfathers in the wrong way then they are very much dispensable.

  19. We all know mayo pays the government big money silently to send the military to Tamaulipas & Nuevo Leon to fight CDG & Zetas. CDS had people in Reynosa & the surrounding areas because El toro had a truce with Mayo but how funny he got kill because someone snitch his location then Jessi got all the blame so he had not choice but to click up with Cortez. Mayo aint stupid he learn from Chapos mistake he knows setting a bad foot in NE Mexico will result in him losing many men. He needs his guys to fight CJNG, CAF & BLO. Let his money do the work for them & let the people who could get away with murders kill the enemies. Tamaulipas is a very important route to push drugs into the states just look at a map of the interstates & you will see why every cartel trys to control Tamaulipas & Nuevo Leon. Tamaulipas boarders are commercial routes to the east coast, mid west, central states & canada. Sending drugs from CA to NY raises the prices. When you could do it from the middle of the country & charge the same as in CA or NY because less people pushes it & less risk of losing a shipment. CDG might not be the biggest cartel but they are just as rich like the zetas or CDS.
