Tijuana: Miami business man executed in Marriott Hotel

Miami businessman executed in Tijuana

In perhaps Tijuana's most upscale hotel, a man and his father were gunned down Thursday morning. The son died on the scene, while his father sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital.  The gunmen or gunman escaped, though municipal police were on scene within a few minutes of the shooting.
The victim Jorge Kalb Zarmei, 37, was killed, he was from Miami, and a U.S Citizen.  He and his father were in the investment and securities business, Jorge Kalb is a financial adviser in the employee of One Atlas Financial Group in Miami, he is a licensed broker of bonds, stocks, mutual funds and other investment related products.  The men were in Tijuana for a meeting with Daniel De La Rosa Anaya, Security of State Public Security, who frequently comments on organized crime in the city.  De la Rosa Anaya, through a statement denied a meeting with the two Miami businessmen.

The father Daniel Kalb, 71, was treated on scene, and taken to a private hospital in Zona Rio.  The suspect or suspects allegedly fled in a black Passat.  The Marriott on Aquas Caliente in Colonia Hippodermo is one of the nicest in the city, bordering a golf course, and a hub of business and social meetings in the lobby and lounge area.

By midday, the hotel was returned to normal, with guests and slight law enforcement presence remaining for the continuing investigation.  The attack took place in the lobby, when gunmen entered and fired upon the victims.  There is some confusion regarding the business partner of the deceased, Eduardo Shobert, the elder Kalb allegedly blames him for the attack.

Jose Eduardo Shobert-Gonzalez fled after the shooting, but was detained.  He has been under investigation and charged for theft from businesses, and forgery, in a scheme involving a landscaping company.  His partner was accused of stealing 600,000 from their Tijuana based company.  Two of Eduardo Shobert's  former business partners were also murdered, one in Culiacan, and one in Mexico City.

The killing likely is tied in to this.  The gunmen could have mistaken, or missed their target, trying to gun down Shobert Gonzalez, hence why he fled the scene.  The financial misconduct, former partners murdered, Culiacan, there's enough circumstantial to assume he could have been involved in criminal activities that could catch up to him.

It is worth noting that many are murdered monthly, and none have the social standing of the deceased, men of careers and resumes, suits and business cars, while their deaths makes headlines, the underclass victims go unnoticed.

  1. Here´s some info J, the guy who was apprehended is cousin of Carlos Sanchez, owner of Compustar, a company which is a provider of hardware for the State Government, and a guy considered as a person of interest by the US since he is considered part of the Tijuana´s cartel money laundering machine under la pantera. might want to check into that.

  4. Most likely they were in the drug game and deal went wrong. I don't think they were innocent bystanders

    1. Nah, not in the game but they had evidence against their business partner for his shisty business dealings. He lured the father and son to Mexico to wack them. It's not going to happen in the US the way it happened in TJ. It's the same old story different day. Cartels do it all the time. They can't kill someone in the US because they won't get away with it so they set up a meeting in good ol' Mexico. Now you have a unsolved murder. End of story.

    2. A Narco is a person that TRAFFICS drugs; has built an enterprise to move his product around. This guy was just part of a scheme. If these cucarachas are to be exterminated, first they need to be identified for what they are.

  12. I thought cartels bring drugs to USA then sell them, this generates cash which is then smuggled in bulk back to Mexico and then invested their in real estate, and various businesses, accounts etc. I wonder if it's difficult to wire or do internet banking from USA to foreign accounts in foreign countries?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. "Bulk to mexico", that is facked up, some money may come back to mexico, like 10% the rest is all "the gangster banksters"to launder and move around and reinvest...many Marco sicarios don't even get to pay for their weapons and pecheras when they get it up the ass, the farmers also don't get too much money, it is on the retail and for the middlemen...

      Delete
    2. You stated ninety percent of Mexican DTO cash in USA is laundered in USA by USA banks? Which banks? In which cities?

      Delete
    3. There are thousands of banks in the US, and foreign banks, so many it gets old, but HSBC, THE VATICAN BANK, THE LEBANESE CANADIAN, UNION BANK has been doing it since before the nazis got made famous, AND AFTER during WWII WHILE THE AMERICAN BOYS WERE DYING ON THE FRONT, Then the CIA'S OWN BANK, bcci...
Just google it, there are reports by the thousands, 5he banks do not even care anymore, they will just pay a little fine and keep doing their dirty deeds...

      Delete
    4. I think they launder it also through the many businesses they have in USA like their furniture stores, used car lot, salon de baile, strip clubs, restaurants, esp. Mariscos restaurants, Food products distribution. They also use these to send some of the money back to Mexico by purchasing products from Mexico.

    5. Not the tacos, the big money gets mixed with 401k and police pensions funds and teachers, widowers, social security investments, government bonds, and after investing on the best money makers, buy industries by the dozen, leave the people unemployed on the street, homeless, drug addicted and send their jobs to slave communist workers in china and the likes.
Tacos etc is mexican enterprise, but no money makers...

  13. This is my regular go to property in tijuana. It's a shame that certain individuals brought "business" to a traditionally neutral part of the city where a lot of the high end narcos intermix in family and domestic life. On a side note at least it happened on a weekday , weekends can be quite lively at this property , particularly sundays when they host a brunch in the restaurant.
