Veracruz: 8 Year Old Killed In Crossfire

Translated by Valor for Borderland Beat

A new infanticide occurred in the southern part of Veracruz after some gunmen shot an 8 year old this morning after witnessing the execution of a person, an alleged drug dealer who was fleeing from his murderers, who in the end, was caught and killed.

Las Choapas, Veracruz— Another child has been killed in the southern part of Veracruz; the child had witnessed an execution due to the settling of scores moments before in the municipality of Las Choapas.

The child, Jozmar Emmanuel Monroy Sánchez, was killed when he was only 8 years old. He wasn’t related to the alleged drug dealer that was executed before his eyes.

This infanticide is the second to occur in less than a month in southern Veracruz; before, a 7 year old boy was killed in the town of Chinameca.

It all happened this Friday morning around 10:15 hours, when some gunmen were pursuing the alleged drug dealer, José Eduardo García Druallet, “El Panucho”, who was fleeing from the gunmen as they ran through Naranjos Street in the municipality of Las Choapas.

The victim went into a private residence, a small store, in order to escape from the gunmen but in the end, he was caught and shot to death.

The child, who was inside the residence in the neighborhood Sabana, was a witness to this execution and was also murdered.

The child’s mother identified the body of her son, who burst into tears when she saw the body of her child.

“El Panucho”
The drug dealer known as “El Panucho”, José Eduardo García Druallet, had already been detained by the municipal police of Las Choapas, just a couple of days ago when he was caught with marijuana packages.

On April 10 of this year, Rafael Carmona, who is the cousin of the mayor of Chinameca, killed José Ricardito Mayo Coronado, a 7 year old who stood in the way of the murderer who was trying to kill his father in his own home.

The murderer of this child in Chinameca, Rafael Carmona, remains at large and the Attorney General of the State of Veracruz is offering a reward of up to 250,000 pesos for his whereabouts since this crime has generated social irritation in this indigenous municipality, with protests and road closures in the region.

  1. May they die a special, gruesome death for killing a child and burn in hell if there is such a place.

  2. Why do they bother to kill witness's when they operate with impunity.I don't get it.I could understand here as you are looking at 25 years but Mexico just pay and go especially when witness's are too scared to come forward anyway and never even hits the trial stage where you would know if there's a witness or not.In the picture I wonder whose feet those are beside the mother.Probably another barefooted youngster.Boy that's sure some nasty fatal wound on that child.Hopefully it was a quick death but judging by the amount of blood loss likely not fast enough.

    1. There is a shoe by the right hand canna, the other may be around there somewhere, not everybody goes barefoot in mexico, justice certainly does.
-- the killing this young boy tells a story, understood by the murderers, they were ordered to not pick up prisoners, and to leave no witness behind, specially not alive, and the murderers are too stupid to even think of any different...

    2. It is possible that the drug dealers used that eight year old boy as a halcon (lookout). How sad.

The childs life hasnt got no monetary value, its priceless, but for a couple of bags of green someone was prepared to KILL a child ?Human rights for a human being?

Silence is golden, the child's death means no prison for the murderers, that is priceless.

    5. @7:02 it sounds like it. Either that or an insane apologist for CJNG who has never once been to this region. The shortest path between two points is a straight line, and Veracruz lies in the middle. No cartel regulates everything that goes down in a trafficking corridor, let alone every single one of their people dipping into the product as they go. Human life is cheap to everyone who deals drugs. If you don't get that yet, tune in next week for more murders.

  20. Are you two really crying or actually feeling the feelings that you're describing? I can never tell if people are actually feeling what they're saying or if they're just saying what's expected of them. Like I don't actually feel sadness when I see these pictures or read these stories but in my day-to-day life I say exactly the things you two typed out... but do people seriously feel this immense sadness from reading this story and seeing these pictures? Thanks for your reply in advance.

  21. I think borderland staff should read this---https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/04/21/comments-are-making-the-internet-worse-so-i-got-rid-of-them/

  23. @5:29 Thank you for your comment and the link. I have read the story and sent it to the other moderators. We will have further conversations on how to improve the comment section of BB.

Lately I have been cracking down more on comments and delete many more than I publish. It doesn't make me very well liked by some of the commenters but that doesn't bother me. I didn't take the job of administrator to win friends. My goal is to make BB better.

    Thanks again for your comment.

  24. Buggs has the rules published. Remember that in my absence we have moderators that have not been working comments for years, it is a learning curve. I know I have gone back and deleted comments posted, but it is a tough job, and in two languages.

But I think it is a irresponsible comment to say what one person may comment effects the reporting. The comments are there to read or ignore. It is your choice. but that should have no bearing on the content of the post which should stand on its own merit.

  25. great to see your return chivis. tell the mods to ignore the whining. this blog has been operating under the same rules for years and those who complain should not be given a forum. "thank you for your comment"? seriously?
