“La Muñeca” arrested in Chihuahua, wanted in the U.S. for drug trafficking
In a statement, the Attorney General's Office (PGR) reported Monday that the arrest took place after the Third District Judge Federal Criminal Proceedings in the Federal District issued an order of provisional detention for international extradition.
According to federal government sources, Hernandez, 38, is linked to a cell of the Juarez Cartel.
According to the arrest warrant, “La Muñeca”, a Mexican national, is required by the judge of the Western District of Texas, USA since 2013 and she was sentenced on charges of conspiracy to import five kilograms or more of cocaine.
She's also wanted for aiding and abetting bribery of a public official, besides being sought in the United States by the U.S Marshals.
The arrest is in responds to a request by the United States, through its embassy in Mexico, by a diplomatic note from March 2015, which was presented to the Mexican government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE).
The PGR press release states that the AIC, through Interpol Mexico, conducted a thorough investigation which included field research, surveillance, surveillance in various parts of the country as well as various measures to achieve the localization and the arrest of the woman.
“La Muñeca” was admitted to the Prevention and Rehabilitation center under an order of injunction and she will stay in a Mexican jail for a not specified time by the PGR until her extradition is resolved.
