Federal Prisons chief and 12 others arrested in El Chapo escape

by Lucio R. Borderland Beat
Former chief of federal prisons Celina Oseguera Parra

The Federal Police and the Attorney General's Office today arrested 13 officials charging them in the escape of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Including Celina Oseguera Parra, former general coordinator of federal penitentiaries, (she was fired the day following El Chapo’s escape) and Valentin Cardenas Lerma, a former prison director of Altiplano No. 1.

Celina is the highest level of authority arrested in the case, she was chief of all prison directors, including Valentin.

Others arrested: Leonor García García, former legal director of the Altiplano;

And the following detainees:

Roberto Cruz Bernal, (custodian chief),

Reyes Mora Carrillo, (one of the top 3 federal police working at the prison)

Herminio González Albarrán. (in charge of monitoring)

Miguel Ángel Flores Mirafuentes, (chief of security control center)

Others whose duties included monitoring, guards and custodians:

Jaime Galindo Hernández, Oswaldo Gastón Veytia Rodríguez and Agustín Jiménez Molina,  Miguel Ángel Cortes Carrillo, Erick Sorcia Martínez, Arturo Hernández Hernández.

The government had previously detained 7 prison officials, including 2 of the federal police and 2 from the agency CISEN (national security).  Government officials report that 4 were released of the original 7, and the others were charged with acts such as failing to activate the “Code Red”, delaying notification of the escape, and not following protocols.

That is the contention of the government, however reports in August claimed all but 1 detainee had been released, and that person was a low level guard.

The newly arrested male suspects are imprisoned at CEFERESO Número 1, Altiplano, and the two women CEFERESO Femenil de Tepic, Nayarit.

I searched the federal agency websites and PGR social media pages for mugshots, as of yet, I found no mugs and no mention of the arrests.

Some material used in this post was accessed from Reforma, BB archives and Univision Noticias

    1. Obama doesn't care about el chapo...if he did he would've sent a seal team after chapo just like he did to osama bin laden

    2. Thats why the "War on Drugs" is a foogazi. All this talk about Syrian Refugees and right next door there are men who have direct hands in destroying US Citizens lives.

Millions of lives have been affected by the drug trade. If this is a true war, then the US should employ the same tactics used to eradicate the leadership of Al Queda and is using against ISIS.

As for the leader of Mexico, Juaquin Guzman - his days are numbered. I dont beleive that he will be captured alive however. He will never leave the mountains. When his liar is discovered, a huge gunfight will endsue leaving several Marina choppers downed, 250 bodyguards killed, including there leader El Chapo Guzman.

He knows if taking alive he will be sent to the US post haste. Probaly to Chicago where ALL of Mayos Sons are waiting to testify against him.
Sent to the ADMAX, where he will spend the rest of his life.

Lol there, they might even spot him a pick and shovel and see if he can tunnel out of The Rocky Mountains.

    4. El Chapo has 1 billion dollars...
--the real owners of drug trafficking, none of them mexican, have hundreds of billions of dollars, they OWN the money laundering banks, AND that is just the tip of the iceberg...

    5. It would be curious if someone like El Chapo managed to wangle his way into presidency or legitimate politics, and then have EPN or Obama pinched, kinda like justice? How many people have EPN / Ob had killed vs El Chapo? I'm sure there is a Huge difference...

  3. WHAAAT?
You have osegueras, cardenas, carrillo and all the UN names of narco family names working there as corrections officers in sensitive positions that can land them in prison?
--All a set up to make it all more believable that they are guilty as charged...
--next time open all the prison doors and let all the criminals escape too, mexico will be safer, and grateful...

    1. Compared with La Chaky miss oseguera is youthful and very pretty, also she did not steal from children's education or their school lunches

  5. I have never heard of that many people being involved in an esape of this magnitude. I do not believe it. They would not have trusted each other.

    1. Actually they didnt all have to know the others role or whether others were involved or how MANY others may have been involved..i think each person involved was only told what they needed to know..im sure the ones who dug the tunnel didnt know about the guard's,nor do they OR the guard's know about who picked chapo up or where they took him...they all had a part to play and i doubt anyones going to ask too many questions

  8. What's to believe?! Truth is, if these 13 people helped out with the Great Escape II, they were paid a nice sum. Maybe, getting "caught" came with the deal they made with Shorty's people??

  9. How convnient doing business with good old customers from the other prison

Did chapo get a discount for preffered customer

  10. Wow . Think they have been compensated enough . I guess no plumo and mucho plata for them and their families may have been their best option . Hope there was enough plata

    1. Oh plenty plata I bet. I wonder if chapos payment to them was before or after the escape. Knowing how powerful chapo is, maybe they were afraid to respond to the escape. Even if there wasn't money involved id be like I saw nothing just get in your hole and leave the prison and my family alone. Honest hardworking people in Mexico don't want the bribes but have to take them or they die. What would you do?

    3. Is that so @ 1:58?

Reminds me of the saying about good people doing nothing and evil prevailing. I guess it's better to live on your knees in Mexico??? Slaves?

I'm glad the comunitarios and ADs don't think like that.

  14. I hate cartels, but maybe this escape will put the Narco Debate to rest. Every other major Narco, from every other cartel is still locked up. Can anyone tell me, where the shortest most powerful one is? Exactly he's Free. What more needs to be said. It's the same reason people hate Tom Brady, and Floyd Mayweather. It's because when you are the best, the haters are going to hate.

--i do not blame "floyd", boxing has become "too sweet" for real men...
--On the other hand, MMA fighters take steroids and too many pain killers and diet pills, except for Rhoda Roussey♡♡♡.

    3. It's also the class many outwardly respectable, wealthy, sober, well-to-do businessmen fall in. Most of them also act "good", or seem so on the outside.

They got caught dealing big time in corruption...
--not a bad idea, there are plenty crime families on the US alone to add a few more floors there, and a few jobs to screen out the 'apologeezers'.
