Map: Cartels and Subgroups operating in Mexico

Lucio R. Borderland Beat information from PGR agency published in Vanguardia

Information within and illustrated  on maps,  is according to the PGR agency, ( the premier investigative arm of the Attorney General of Mexico).  Readers may identify discernible omissions of both cartels and subgroups, or disagree with given information,  nonetheless, this is what Vanguardia is reporting.

They identify subgroups working for larger cartels, and the area of influence.

Groups who began as operational subgroups, or enforcer groups for a large cartels, sometimes become consolidated and splinter into an independent group.

Such is the case of the Independent Cartel of Acapulco (CIDA), Los Rojos and Los Ardillos, which splintered from the Beltran Leyva Organization.

Guerreros Unidos splintered from La Familia Michoacana.  Cártel del Poniente/La Laguna, separated from  cártel del Pacífico.

Specialized Investigation of Organized Crime (SEIDO) identifies the consolidation of at least seven groups, arising from the Beltran Leyva Organization, with presence mainly in Baja California Sur and Aguascalientes.

The organization of Chapo Isidro, whose name its leader Fausto Isidro Meza Flores, (alias El Chapo Isidro),  is identified by US authorities as one of the main traffickers of marijuana and synthetic drugs.

Noted by the agency is that Cartel del Golfo, is without a premier leader but is now formed by numerous cell groups who generate their own operational structure, often with regional leaders.

    2. @1:39 after 60 years of messy-mixing there are all kinds of US politicians and businessmen married to foreigners and viceversa, also the mexicans going to every state on the US and in mexico, end up marrying among the states, that includes cartel members...

One glaring error you have highlighted. waiting for others to be commented on. One wonders why/how PGR could make such mistakes. It had to done be purposefully. They know the information. So the Q is , why?

    2. The reason maps like this come out is because this is what both the U.S. and Mexican governments want it to be! If the PGR and DEA and any other law enforcement agency in either country say that they have dismantled four out of five major cartels from 6 to 8 years ago, then they have said they have done their job! The dismantling of a few cartels does not mean that another cartel necessarily moved in its place, but if this is what makes law enforcement happy and hence keep receiving funding then so be it!

    3. The BLO, the AFO, the CDJ, CF, and zetas joined into cartel del norte, I know some people have been traveling around, it was strange, you just take notice...
--blo split when arturo el barbas got killed, la barbie vs H and chapo isidro
--zetas split el taliban went golfo, CT, CDS, CJNG...
--aguascalientes, playground of the arellano felix may have been taken by the BLO, but I have seen some oficinos who went with el taliban and zacatecas golfas, now they are orphans with new sugar daddies...
--The reason the war on drugs is never done and crime worsens is federal police squeezing local state and municipal police who demand more and more money from their local narcs, and ginirals too, governors stealing funds complicate things a bit more, nothing left behind but underpaid corrupt cops and the treasury broke, bankrupt and in debt for the next 50 years...

    4. I think defectors joined CDN they are essentially just Zetas with out a reliable substance source.

If AFO BLO CDJ and Zetas ever collaborated I don't think it was on the premises that they would become one single Cartel.

    1. Ok. I too was mind fucked but here this out.
Gulf was always around. The Guadalajara Cartel gave birth to 3 independent cartels.
      The Juarez
      The Sinaloa
      The Tijuana.
Gulf and Juarez used to want to push into Tijuana plazas. They would conflict.
Sinaloa avoided Juarez and Tijuana and pushed into Gulf plazas.

The Gulf creates the hit squad Zeta to exterminate Sinaloa Cells in their own Territory.
Sinaloa retreats and is followed by Zetas to Nayarit to Sonora and to La Baja where Sinaloa decides to inform and contest the plazas against BLOZ Linea and Tijuana.
The Zeta is used to infiltrate known dominance points. (Heat up the plaza)
The BLO is fractured from the federation . As a last effort BLO and Z ally. The unity last and the partnership grows and expand into each others controlled dominion.

The Juarez BLOZ alliance is made and likely that is the reason the any place BLO / Zetas / Linea have a bastion one of them allows the other information or free pass.
Remember the Zetas where sent by Gulf orders to any place Sinaloa was bastioned at so be default once the alliance was forged intelligence on the enemy were also likely shared .

    2. 5:45PM, I'd say you've really got it figured out, thanks for laying it out so logically. Juarez BLOZ as a united front is a terrifying concept to even think about and a horror show for the people whose days get turned into living nightmares by these monsters' violence, the power of their money to buy souls for sale to place in public office and their dumb arse machoism, yeah? Right now, there is chatter that Juarez is cute and cozy with ISIS thru los Z, smuggling weapons and ISIS "recruits" into USA. This could easily be propaganda, too. Either way, there's DEA stink on Juarez BLOZ and CIA slight of hand at play, here. The gringos would seem to be letting all this pile up into an even bigger mountain of shiet so they can use it as an official excuse to roll their tanks into Mexico in the name of the States' national security. Mexico! Pray for rain...

    1. Same.

But it is about %70 accurate. Chihuahua is huge man so is Sonora. We all know that Sinaloa has a choke point. Lower Sinaloa to Nayarit to Colima is or was all Sinaloa Now it looks like Colima is CJNG and they are workinv on Nayarit.
Upper Sinaloa is all BLO and the better eastern half of Sonora as well. La Linea we all know has its plaza and it would seem like bits of Northen Sinaloa and north west Durango as well as bits of. Eastern Sonora.
My only guess is from Sinaloa La Federation. And maybe BLO to avoid check points or rival strong holds send boats to La Baja Sur then send them to Zona Norte.
This is why I think la Federation fought for TJ so much.

    4. 6:36 Not a great response to the blog. Many do live in fear. Especially when they are confronting it daily. New York is not seeing terrorism everyday like in Mexico. The government in the USA is actually doing something to guard against it. Even the Mexican people feel safer there. Here they are doing nothing to protect the people, and the people that are supposed to them could care less. There is not a day I go out that I am not cautious and worrying. But maybe I am different than you. I am educated, have a good job and a nice family. I could care less about how many are born everyday and worry more about those being killed and taken advantage of. New Yorker's do not live in fear of terrorism everyday. Unless you are in the Ghetto. Mexico is turning into a big Ghetto where no one cares about anyone else buy their own immediately family. Americans rally around those that die, and those they did not even know in life. They even build memorials to remember the dead. Memorials are built here for big Narco's, and the people are just thrown into unknown and hidden graves. 43 students ring a bell. No memorial and no bodies? People slaughtered in the casino, no memorial built to honor them. The slaughter of the 72 immigrants. No memorial for them either. Death permeates the foundation of Mexico, and much of the time it goes on unabated.
