The Army detain an operator from the Sinaloa Cartel

Translated for Borderland Beat from a Milenio article by Otis B Fly-Wheel

Heriberto Salgueiro Nevarez is the brother of Jose Salguiero Nevarez presumed Lieutenant of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, who was detained in October of 2012.

City of Mexico
Heriberto Salgueiro Nevarez, identified as one of the principal operators of the criminal cell Gente Nueva, and armed wing of the Sinaloa Cartel in Chihuahua, was detained today by the Mexican Army during an operation carried out in Culiacan.

Functionaries of the Federal Government said that the detained is the brother of Jose Salgueiro Nevarez "El Che" ( Otis: see Havana Pura article on arrest at BB), presumed Lieutenant of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, who was captured in October of 2012.

El Che

They indicate that he is also the brother of Noel Salgueiro Nevarez "El Flaco Salgueiro"( Otis: see link to his arrest reported by Chamuko 213), who was captured by Military on the 4th of October 2011. "El Flaco" was the leader and founder of the group Gente Nueva, of the Sinaloa Cartel, and one of the operators close to the boss "El Chapo" Guzman.

El Flaco

After the capture of "El Flaco" Salgueiro, and after some settling of scores "El Che" managed to put him in as Lieutenant of "El Chapo" in Chihuahua.

The functionaries consulted said that Heriberto was put at the disposition of Seido, who in the next few hours will determine his Ministerial situation.

Heriberto Salgueiro Nevarez controlled the planting and production of opium poppys and marijuana in the mountainous areas between Chihuahua and Sonora.

He is considered one of the principal generators of violence in these areas, he maintained the fight against other criminal groups for control of the plazas, the sale and transit of drugs, of which he was in charge of logistics to United States.

Federal forces captured a rifle, five side arms, 19 cell phones, 18,900 American Dollars, and half a kilo of Heroin.

    1. Yeah - and note he wasn't carrying little baggies of retail meth and little scales like zeta "plaza jefes"! LOL..looks like Sinaloa had to give one up as EPN and PRI work to manage who is working like they did until Fox was elected.

  2. That means nothing! you would think Chapo would be coughing out the hide outs of Zambada, N his own sons now that hes captured. It looks like NO one is squeezing his nuts tight enough for him to spit out those places.

    2. Why would he know where El Mayo is hiding? He has been in prison for more than a year and whilst he was a fugitive he only spoke with Mayo every few weeks over the phone (Mayo's words).

    6. Seriously? Like Chapo's "capture" wasn't pre-arranged. He will never hit US soil unlike the CAF and Alfredo "el Mocho" Levya. This was all planned w/ EPN's people to quell violence in Mexico (public violence that is) and get the federal politicians back in control like it had been before PAN was in Los Pinos. If Chapo, Mayo or Azul (yeah he's dead right) ever got extradited every one of the wealthiest families of Mexico would be implicated from CEMEX, Banamex, la BMV, to Telmex...not to mention all the Militar and federal politicians.

    7. @7:13 - agreed and I think the BBC documentary just affirms what you say. Although I am surprised Mochomo was extradited. As long as he had been with CDS and the routes he controlled I thought Mexico wouldn't let him be extradited. In reality the Chapos, Azuls, and Mayos are just puppets (well paid puppets) for the real CDS who are considered respectable businessmen and politicians and who've been profiting for generations. I think Gortari is still the real cartel jefe pulling strings from Ireland.

    1. yeah, they kicking out the white powdered heroin now...it sells for more than the tar stuff and if your going to move a brick across border, it makes fiscal sense to move across something that yields bigger rewards since the punishment is the same for tar or powder....i see it all the time on Drugs Inc. think it plays on nat geo...only thing about them, is that no matter what state or city they feature, its always sinaloa that supplies it...Nat Geo must have a deal to advertise for CDS

    2. Honestly, I stopped reading when it states Heriberto was captured "today" when he was actually captured on feb 5. I already read the coverage from/at that time. No offense OBFW, I am sure it is news to many, but I was surprised it was so delayed.

  11. the translation is correct, the article says today, I didn't report it at the time it came out because I was working on other articles. The rest of the article on the second page is about his brothers, El Che and El Flaco. Otis
