UPDATE; Lifeless Body of Father Gregorio Lopez Found (other photo and clarification note added 12/16)

Posted by DD material from Excelsior, Proceso, and Diario de Coahula

As I reported yesterday, Christmas Day, Father Gregorio Lopez Gorosheta was kidnapped from the Seminary in Altamirano, Guerrero early Monday morning by a group of armed men.  The Bishop of the diocese pleaded on Facebook and other media for his release and announced a march was to be held on Dec. 24 to seek his release from the kidnappers.
(DD note;  Father Gergorio Lopez was often called Father Goya (nickname for Gregorio) by his students and other clergy, but he is not the more famous Father Goya in Michoacan.  Father Gregorio Lopez (Father Goya) from Michoacan has referred to Father Gregorio Lopez (also referred to as Father Goya) from Guerrero as his namesake)

The march was held despite the rain, with the Bishops and priests from around the area and adjoining states leading the march of Catholics.

But to no avail.  The lifeless body of Father Lopez with a gunshot wound to the head and signs of torture was found about 3:PM Christmas Day near the town of Tlapehuala, in the region of Tierra Caliente.  on a stretch of road that connects Ciudad Altamirano with the municipality of Arcelia, Guerrero.

The Cathedral of Ciudad Altamirano through its Facebook account, Father Xavier, confirmed the murder of the priest.

"Today communicate with deep sorrow that our brother Gregorio López Gorostieta father departed to his father's house. With faith I can say that he is enjoying the presence of God" published.

No motive is yet known for the murder.

On December 4 in Iguala, the Interior Minister, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, announced the special security plan for the region of Tierra Caliente, covering 22 municipalities in Guerrero, two of Michoacán Eight of the State of Mexico and Morelos four.   Altamirano was one of the municipalities included.

During the signing of the Implementation of the Single Command, with the governors of Guerrero, Michoacán, State of Mexico and Morelos, Osorio Chong said the actions would  strengthen the ability to deal with crimes, the crimes that most hurt society.

Osario said “We do this so that as soon as possible the inhabitants of Tierra Caliente can enjoy the necessary conditions in order to carry out your everyday life without violence"

The reports say that Father Lopez's body was found on this highway near this "monument to honor Mexico's former President Lazaro Cardenas. Cardenas was responsible for consolidating power into a party he labeled the Partido de la Revolución Mexicana (Party of the Mexican Revolution – PRM) which later changed  its name to Partido Revolucionario Institucionalt  (PRI).  It is almost a horrific irony that in light of everything that has happened in Guerrero and Michoacan the monument closely resembles a decapitated head.

    1. This Padre Goyo from GRO did denounce the GU cartel in church last Sunday morning, but you might be thinking about the much more visible and vocal Padre Goyo from Michoacán. The Michoacán Padre Goyo is OK. But he needs to be more careful!!

    2. The church is "suppose" to denounce all criminal and immoral activity and should continue to do so. If you silence your clergy then they will not be teaching/spreading the FATHER’S commands, thereby helping to bring Mexico into complete spiritual darkness.

    4. Those father problems are that they open their mouth publicly! That is not the way to go specially with them cartel snakes! they should denounce in close doors and only with honest law officials! why the hell only the bad ones gotta use their fcking heads to do bad things!!? por eso es ke los malos ganan en ese mexico.

    5. Except for John, all the original remaining apostles were martyred (tortured & killed). They were commanded to spread the gospel publicly (not behind closed doors, or only with honest officials) & the clergy must do the same. Father Lopez’s body is gone, but his spirit is with the FATHER.

    6. Dude had balls and went out of this world with likely no regrets about speaking out against these scumbags. To the guy that said he got what he deserved for speaking out; DONT BE JEALOUS BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO CAJONES. most people that say they dont fear death, are probobly lying, but when you publicly do what this guy was doing, then best believe they dont.

CHCECK YOUR EMAIL...THERE IS A MOTIVE AND ASSUMED CULPRITS

First off, we are getting comments about this confusing this priest with fr goyo of michoacan. this is similar name but in guerrero

also...It was GU who killed the this priest. he had given a strong sermon against the GU and a couple hrs later he was taken. GU is the cartel in collusion with Iguala mayor abarca and responsible for killing the 43 (actually 44)

his body showed he was tortured before killed.

  4. At first I thought it was father goyo from michoacan, he is really outspoken against organized crime. I seen him in the news in the spanish channel here in arizona, he had a bullet proof vest and said he was in fear that the ct were going to kill him. His family moved because they were scared, his brother told him to stop because he got threatened by ct. Sad that not even the priest can talk against organized crime.

  5. As long as there are known criminals working for the Government under the direct orders of Osorio Chong and Castillo. I don't believe shit of what they say! To me an thy thing that comes out of their mouth is plain bullshit!!! The day I believe them is when the turn on each other and start arresting their corrupt crony friends!!!! All the stuff out of their mouths is just plain lies filled with blood! How can they sleep at night!!!! Do they not feel the pain of their fellow Mexican paisanos! The humble will inherit the kingdom of God!

  6. Oh yeah, Osorio Chong really cares! After all the lies of Michoacan with his Criminal buddy Castillo! What has he done! Take the bull by the horns and turn in your boss EPN! Change Mexico! It's sad but they would rather do all they can to cover up and act like they are doing something while continuing their corruption than to actually clean house and start all over! Well they better figure it out because Mexico has become an international joke! Mexico has now been listed as one of the worst placed for tourists because of all the corruption and cartels!!! Fucking greedy pricks! Acapulco anybody! Yeah right!

    1. They[the government] need to decide what they want;cartel$ or tourist $ but right now because of how corrupt and greedy they are, they are double dealing both sides but 1 will suffer seriously and unfortunately I think it will be the tourist side.Would be nice if it was the cartel side but the economy [the oil reforms] are suffering so they will grab from wherever they can and launder it outside the country before the peso gets seriously devalue and I think its going to crash soon..

    1. The mexicans can do it in their own. they just gotta use their marines.

    2. It's we, the spoiled brats in the USA, snorting and smoke drugs that are responsible for ruining Mexico. This problem would end tomorrow if the USA gave up drugs. The blood of the people of Mexico is on the hands of the USA drug users. They will have to explain this when they meet their Maker.

    3. Even if most of the drug manufacturing was put out of business & many users stop using, Mexico would still have numerous crimes such as murders, extortion, kidnapping, serial killings, bribery, rapes etc. because all of Mexico’s systems & institutions are “corrupted” (presidential, military, state, federal, schools, hospitals, police, judicial, etc.).

The people cannot seek any type of remedy or justice to ease their pain or suffering.
