"Queen of the Pacific" - Jail Term Ends in 3 days

Borderland Beat

Sandra Avila Beltrán-La Reina del Pacifico
Miami, Florida. - The Mexican drug trafficker Sandra Avila Beltran, known as "La Reina del Pacifico" or "Queen of the Pacific," was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Miami to 70 months in prison for advising another drug lord, but the judge counted her time already served in Mexico and she will be deported soon.

Sandra Ávila Beltrán, "The Queen of the Pacific", will not face criminal charges once she returns to Mexico.  According to ministry sources, no arrest warrants, criminal investigations or criminal proceedings are related to Avila Beltran, so she will not detained upon her return to the country. Niece of drug trafficker Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, Ávila Beltrán was arrested in Mexico on September 28, 2007 when she was drinking coffee at restaurant south of Mexico City. She was extradited to the United States on August 9.

Judge Michael Moore sentenced Avila Beltran to 70 months in prison, equalling five years and eight months, but he took into account the nearly five years of imprisonment which she has already served in Mexico as well as the over 11 months which she has served in the Florida jail since her extradition from Mexico last August 9..

Avila Beltran, 52 years old, was a prominent figure of the Sinaloa cartel, previously reached a plea deal so she was only convicted of a single charge: Advising a drug dealer to evade justice, referring to her former partner, alleged boyfriend Colombian Juan Diego Espinosa, aka "El Tigre", a key figure between the Sinaloa Cartel and El Norte  del Valle in Colombia.

"It's been  70 months since, September 28, 2007, the time she was imprisoned in Mexico, so starting as early as next week,  she could be released," said Stephen Ralls, Avila Beltran's lawyer.  Once she heard the statement,  "Queen of the Pacific," in a prisoner's beige uniform and leg shackles, smiled at the sentence.  She will leave under the orders from U.S. immigration services in the coming days then be deported to Mexico. "We hope this process will be fast," said the defense attorney in spanish working in Arizona.

They say she was a 'drug lord' but did she order hits? Did she run an organization? Did she command cells? Did she move weight? Did she do anything besides being related to a kingpin?

She advised someone how to slip past the cops? That makes her a 'drug lord?'

    Whatever.....

  3. These US judges are so biased. Look at Judge Burns in San Doego who didnt credit the nine years Benjamin Arellano aleady had served in Mexico. This broad is no different. She executed shipments, extorsions and murders and now this judge shows sympathy. Once again this US legal system is full of shit.

Trust me i kno more than u think thats why those 2 DEA agents were killed beacuse they had a meeting with the sinaloa cartel but they didnt make it beacuse the zetas stopped them.. the dea agent abviously tought they were meeting with the sinaloa cartel but when they got out there trucc they were shot by los zetas because even the zetas know about chapo guzmans deal with the CIA AND DEA..like it or not our own government betrays its peaople so for all u really proud americans that think that the usa is the best and not corrupt think again.. 5. I think her sentence seems awfully light if you consider all the drugs she transported and lives she indirectlty ruined. They don't consider that in the pleas.

  11. This case is totally different than Benjamin Arellano. She was arrested for the same charge that she was sentenced in the US for. There is no way you can compare this lady to Benjamin Arellano. However the sentence was way too short for conspiring to contraband 9tons of coke. She must have been charged with a lesser crime. Which is total B.S. There are people incarcerated serving 10 year sentences for being busted with a couple of kilos. Money once again will buy you a short term sentence because you can afford a top notch defense that will find loopholes in any legal system. Moral of the story, if you're breaking the law put money away for a good attny.

  12. Wtf She will be deported to MX. in a few days. That's like throwing her into shark infested waters with an open wound! Why don't they do her a favor and just throw in the everglades and let the crocs take of her. Then again what relevant info could she have given the DEA that they gave her the plea deal. She's been away from the game for awhile.

  13. Alot of mny spent to get her free, the judge was corrupted somehow, her sentence was way too short

  14. I believe she'll have some one pick her up or they'll do her in on her arrival 50/50 she has no choice they're deporting her she'll be worried coming back in the drug buisness you trust no one.

  19. Seventy months? What a joke. People criticize Mexico's judicial system, but the system in the States is just as pathetic. She should have her own suite at ADX Florence. If I remember correctly--when she was incarcerated in Mexico--she had her attorneys file formal complaints practically every other day about not being able to have food delivered to the prison from the outside, and about insects in her cell--the written complaint referring to the pests as "noxious fauna." That should tell you what you need to know about the woman, and I can picture her face creasing into a serpent's smile as the sentence was read out to her--per the article.

Earlier, someone questioned how involved she was. She's Gallardo's niece--I have no doubt she moved shipments, ordered executions, and ran operations. It's in the blood for those Sinaloans.

  20. If she open her mouth the Sinaloans don't care, that's what they do. Look at Sapo and Mayos son. She'll be welcome back with love

  21. Whatever percent get prosecuted is low. In the El Heraldo in Chihuahua it said 3% are prosecuted. They were bringing in Attorneys from the USA to teach attorneys on how to present cases, and get more convictions. The people that are convicted are low street criminals and shoplifters, wife beaters, purse snatchers and so on. Because they cannot afford attorneys. It also said that 91.8 percent of the people do not report a crime here. I believe they fear the police, or retribution from family or friends of the criminals.

  22. I can see why dudes went after her, she's so feminine and definitely got that sex appeal, she gets you going to thoughts without even trying. As for her legal troubles, what do people want to happen to her?
She hasn't been accused of any grievous charges,,,money laundering? That shit gets done every day in the so-called legal world around the world,we all know it?She got born into it,what was she supposed to do,what would people here do?

  23. Guess she is broke, otherwise the Murrican Justice system would try to come up with some made up charges to get after her money.

Seriously, do a little lifting yourself maybe. This woman is in the news almost as much as El Chapo! There are so many articles or you could go so far as to click on links here in this story. This is such an old story. There are books in English and Spanish, TV shows and probably a reality show like Jenni R in the works as we speak.

  31. 1. Sra Avilles will be safer in Culiacan, Guadalajara, DF or wherever she decides to live than the average gringo is in America.
    2. Sra Avilles still has more assets and cash throughout Mexico, US, Panama City, Columbia and Aruba than any Zeta plaza leader ever made during his entire short lived career.
    3. Unlike los Arrellanos, Sra Avilles was a business woman that paid piso, and not a coked out egocenntric cartel leader enforcer that liked to show off by killing unnecessarily.

Sra Avilles was born into millions, she successfully made millions (if not bllions) FOR DECADES, and unlike LFM, BLO, CDG, and all the new up and coming wannabees, she as family of Rafa Quintero did business intelligently. Just facilitating cargo north - no kidnap, extorting or drawing precocious attention to herself. This style keeps you alive, rich, and keeps Mexico and its people on your side.

    1. The Arellano family doninated and had total grip of the northern border for two decades and still are very powerful in the underworld. That Family is made. Their vast fortune is like a private bank in Mexico. The Arellano Felix built Tijuana.
Yes the brothers got apprehended or killed (Ramon) because they were flashy but most important because they were only getting to powerful and Chapo ran to the government to put pressure to el CAF.
El Chapo has a certain amount of respect for Benjamin that is why he hasnt taken over Tijuana with his infantry. Tijuana has been blessed by CAF since the 80s. Real Mafiosis.
This woman didnt built no empire or took over a frontera she just slept with any heavy weight to have a piece of the drug market. Now Enedina Arellano now she is somebody.

  34. She and her Colombian boyfriend, El Tigre were busted for smuggling 11 ton of cocaine into Culiacan Sinaloa. Her uncle was the Kingpin of Kingpins. Her first 2 husbands were both murdered, possibly by her. One was the police commander of Sinaloa. She dated Amado Carrillo and El Mayo. She went out with El Chapo once but said he was a little too short and way to serious. The Sinaloa Cartel love her because she is so connected with the Colombians. Before y'all start insulting, do a little research. This woman is wealthy beyond all of you put together and connected to the very top. And even in her 50s, I bet she looks better than your wives, especially wnen yours turn 50.

    2. @8:46 - although there are several inaccuracies in your garble I must correct that the only indictment came from 11 tons of coke on a freight ship in Mazatlan - not Culiacan. It was actually 62 tons but between what Mochomo and la marina stole the media claimed 11 BLO ran Mazatlan then and Sra paid her piso but Mochomo still stole the cargo. Unlike Sra Aviles, BLO were greedy coked out loud mouths with no honor....I know; you obviously don't.

  36. Lol yall need to do ur research!! She will not end up like Griselda Blanco she is 3rd generation of cartel family with connections of all the drug cartels being the niece of the God father Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo Guadalajara Cartel who broke into the Tijuana cartel and the Sinaloa. Niece of the Caro Quinteros (sonora &guadalajara cartel) partners of the Juarez due to El senor de los cielos. with carrillo fuentes family. So dis chick is well connected n protected. basically by all cartels cuz once again its all family or family partners.
