El Chapo's Asia-Pacific-US Meth. Domination

Borderland Beat
Mexico • The Sinaloa cartel controls the trafficking of methamphetamine in the Asia Pacific triangle-Mexico-United States organization that is considered a "global company" by diversifying its global market.
Its markets include North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, where they sell marijuana, cocaine, opiates and methamphetamine..

According to an article by a doctor of political science from Columbia University in New York,  Dr. José Luis León Manríquez, published in the Atlas of the security and defense of Mexico 2012, the trafficking in methamphetamine and designer drugs has had a global surge.

It is the criminal group headed by Joaquin El Chapo Guzman which has a monopoly on this type of drug.
Before completing the last six years, the government of Mexico detected the increase in the number laboratories manufacturing synthetic drugs in the Mexican states of Guanajuato, Durango, Sonora and Baja California, where five cartels are vying for control of territory that can generate consumers death within one year.

In a report on the subject prepared by various federal states after conclusive operations were conducted by the Mexican Army revealing the production centers.

The researcher, who was an adviser to the Foreign Ministry, in their study published information documented that the Sinaloa cartel has been in trafficking methamphetamine since the 1990s.

He mentioned that he was the kingpin (killed in a raid in Zapopan, Jalisco, in 2010) was the one who visualized the market potential of methamphetamine, a business that was initially controlled by the Colima cartel, headed by Amezcua Contreras brothers
"Ignacio Nacho Coronel " was also known as the Crystal King, consolidated a broad network that imported ephedrine from Asia and processed it into meth. in Mexico. Taking advantage of its ability to place other drugs in the U.S., the Sinaloa cartel began distributing free samples in that country, "he explained.

By 2012 the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency of the United States) recognized that that criminal group already controlled 80 percent of the U.S. market.

The development of industrial-scale methamphetamine in Mexico was displaced by home production made in small clandestine laboratories in the United States.

And thanks to the penetration of the Mexican cartels in that market, the number of methamphetamine laboratories seized  began to fall between 2003 and 2006, from 10, 212 to 5, 846.

Until August 2012 the government of Mexico dismantled 712 laboratories which the military operations found in 12 states, all under control of the Tijuana and Sinaloa cartels.
In addition, 11 were located in Sonora belonging to groups Beltran Leyva, the Sinaloa cartel and Los Zetas.

In August of that same month the then Attorney General of the Republic, Marisela Morales Ibáñez, signed with head of the DEA, Michele Leonhart, a  cooperation memorandum to combat clandestine laboratories and synthetic drugs.

Federal Police Destroy Planting in Soyopa
Federal Police reported that  a marijuana plantation was destroyed in the town of Soyopa, Sonora covering an area of 300 thousand hectares and weighing more than five tons 200 kilograms.
In a statement, the corporation said that through intelligence agents discovered the fields in the vicinity of the ejido Tonichi, near Highway 16 in Hermosillo, Chihuahua route.

Seizures

The commander of the Second Military Region reported that authorities in coordination with the three levels of government, they seized 9, 840 kilos of marijuana and arrested 27 people from the 1st to 25th of March.

They seized 43.29 kilograms of crystal meth, 33 vehicles, two boats, aircraft, 12 handguns, nine long, a thousand 274 cartridges and 700 grams of marijuana seeds.

Also seized 5,830  Mexican pesos and U.S. $ 21, said the regional command belonging
to the Department of Defense (Sedena).

  4. such bullshit. the asian mafia has a tighthold on all drugtrafficking of meth in asia. they are hundreds of years old with 300,000 members in hong kong alone. there were a couple of outstanding posts here about this not long ago from aci and chivas. i like your work havana but you can't always rely on mexican media you need to do some research. Iran and paki also are huge in the meth market since 2010. in 18 months over 300 labs were found and destroyed in iran alone. chinese mafia control 98% of precusor sale globally

  6. When the U.S. made large quantities of cold tablets, containing pseudo-ephedrine, hard to obtain the production of meth in the U.S. became a thing of the past. There had already been a steady supply of meth from Mexico available but most daily users had U.S. suppliers. Many addicts would simply produce enough dope to keep themselves and a small group of friends high for a week or so. During this week they would gather pills and start over. Now all of these addicts which have been doing large amounts of dope for 10 or 15 years no longer have the luxury of domestic dope. What I can't figure out is how someone from a different country, that can barely speak English end up in the middle of the U.S. filling the void left by the U.S. market. What are they doing with all of the money. We are talking about massive amounts of cash going to Mexico just from the U.S. With the U.S. leaking money like this, what effect does it have on America's big financial picture? How do you figure the American government is benefiting from the situation, because I can't see them allowing it to continue if they wasn't getting something out of it.

    2. First off speakin different language makes it harder to communicate. But anyways in my opinion I think this flow of currency is what's damaging our economy. If the money doesn't go bck n to circulation then it kinda fucks us don't u think?

  7. Well chapo is keeping his promise to mainly focus on drug trafficking. I can't say the same for the zetas. When is chapo going to get rid of the zetas?

  8. Havana- Interesting update on Chapo's global network. From what I have read, I do agree that the Asian Mafia has a tight hold over there business. What has come out recently is his dominantion in Africa,Europe as well as taking more control over Coumbia,Bolivia and Venezuela. Given this massive area where he buys massive amounts of cole, meth, opium, pot and heroin, he is on the short list for most powerful drug traffickers. It's always great to hear about seizures but it is a drop in the bucket. There is such a large availability of this drugs in Houston, that the prices are at a all time low. I speak to kids daily who were on addrell than went to meth because it is cheaper. Same with pain pills, cheaper to buy heroin. It's a nightmare on every level, with no real solution on the horizon. It is toigh going to work everyday and witness the damage to these kids. On this Good Friday, I wish peace and love to all innocents worldwide. And, I pray the end is near for the Sinola cartel, due to they are the greatest problem globally. Thanks,Texas Grandma.

  9. Right on the money as usual Texas Grandma. We have so many problems with drugs in Texas and it is constantly changing. Chivis y Havana could work full time updating us on developments and as good as they both are, the coverage would only scratch the surface.

But I am happy you tired again with your comment, the first one I had to not allow in, I think you know why.

    @9:41AM
I totally agree with your post about TRIADS aka Chinese Mafia. Chapo controls much, but not asia, though he is the largest procurer of precursor outside Asia. I knew nothing about them before I lived in Asia. As far as wealth, no comparison, chapo has some big time catching up to do. Triads control asia.
Thanks for referring to aci and my posts there is a video also here they are:

    1. Agree with you Chivis...The Chinese Triads have invested their money into legitimate businesses such as construction, money lending, industries, etc & with China's booming economy they are reaping in dividends many times over...The Chinese Triads are very powerful controlling legal and illegal businesses...Chapo has a lot of catching to do to reach their financial level.

  11. Hey Texas Graandma, You're right, no matter how you dice it, El Chapo is definitely on the short list for the most powerful drug trafficker. And unfortunately I don't see that position declining any time soon.

It is awful to see the devastating affects of drugs, legal and illegal, on kids and their families firsthand. Even though seizures of illegal drugs are just a drop in the bucket compared to those that reach their destination, they always seem like the exception to the rule. It should be the other way around. Coke, meth and precursor seizures make me smile. Always appreciate your comments and usually everyone else's too. Thank you and have a nice weekend.

  12. @12:38 Well because the biker guys in the heartland of the U.S. do not know Spanish. They are usually paranoid, don't trust strangers, yet here they are turning lots of their product. It would seem that being able to communicate and speaking the same language (English)would help to get a foot in the door and another distributor...jackass

  13. Another big player is India and Thailand. They are also selling huge amounts of pre cursors to Mexico. The triads are only in China ,Taiwan, and Hong Kong.I disagree with Them having more money than Chapo because they are only selling the raw materials.Chapo is probably not even paying the meth cooks!!! He can spend a million on supplies and make 100 million for the actual product.Even after paying everyone off and shipments being confiscated,Chapo is making a huge huge profit.Meth is wack...

  14. @10:24 am You assume that the traffickers barely speak English, wrong, the guys organizing these deals have nothing to do with the mules from Oaxaca carrying loads on their back, their networks have been set up in both countries for decades.

You ask what do they do with all the money, launder it, big part of it in the US, that's where the benefit comes

    1. I wonder the same thing. I traveled all through Mexico through the 80's, 90's and up through mid 2000's looking for surf. Living in Texas, we drove right through the heart of Mexico. We always heard stories of hold ups and thefts even way back. Even had some friends robbed at gunpoint and their dog shot. However with the advent of social media and the internet, the violence is more publicized and more in your face. I suspect the violence has always existed. I sure would like to hit the point breaks around La Ticla and Hua hua and points south. It just doesn't seem worth it anymore. But maybe its really not different.

  18. @3:50 I'm not trying to sound like I know what's going on in Mx. That's why I am here reading, getting another perspective of what is going on in Mx. I am in the US almost 1000 miles from Mx., very happy and comfortable. What I do know is that within the last five years the majority of meth has shifted from American made, American controlled to being ran by guys that speak very little English. I assumed that they must have ties to a cartel because 1. they are clearly from Mx recently 2. they have seemingly never-ending connection to meth. They may be working for another by delivering and recruiting new customers. Maybe that's how they pay for their trip up here, or their new ID's. I don't know, that's why I am here. I know their market is growing and they seem to be more than able to take up the slack. I know the general public has no clue about the appalling, violent conditions in Mx. Most don't care. Most don't know how deeply this same violent, drug dealing, money laundering breed of humans are embedded in the US. If allowed to continue the way it is now whats going to stop the cartels from continuing to act like fools in the US. They battle over distribution routes in Mx. Once in the US it will be the actual point of sale, cash production, the ultimate goal, that will be disputed.

  19. This is very interesting from a observer not in Mexico, some thoughts thought.

While CDG and Zetas are waging a all out war with each other, how come no CDS have been killed?

Doesnt X20 hate CDS as well? since his former leader M3 was killed? Pretty sure Chapo was in on his death since he didnt want to align.

  20. Es interesante ver como trabajan estos criminales. Gracias Havana.

  21. If I'am not mistaken, crystal meth in combination with marijuana, called PCP, is a highly potent drug combo popular among some drug users. That combination in itself can be a major money maker for the cartels.

I doubt any cartel from Mexico can come close in wealth to any Chinese Triad. The Han Chinese are the largest ethnic group in the world. The Chinese population numbers 1.3 billion, and that does not even include the pockets of communities they have all over the world. Hell, Its probably private Chinese companies that are selling pseudoephredine, and not only Chinese co.s bit Indian also, to the cartels. So its safe to say that JGL is not going to take over Asia any time soon; However, thats not to say his Sin. Cartel isnt becoming the largest criminal organization in the Americas, because it is.

  22. @3:50 Don't assume that. Quite a few do. Some of us come here to get an idea of what the people know or assume is going on. With big ties and knowledge of what's really going on, it's entertaining and comical sometimes to read the thoughts and speculation on these blogs.

  23. @3:50p.m. I'm American born and raised, and I don't assume I know everthing about México, however, I do have some insight into what's going in your state since I have family from Tamaulipas. My dad is from Tamps. and My mom was raised some in Tamps. and born in the valley(el valle). We have family in Matamoros, Ciudad Victoria, and in Brownsville, Tx. So I do have some insight and perspective in what is going on in Mex. Remember that there has been a lot of raza that has moved to the U.S.

  24. Thats bullshit they dont have that much control over that drug. most of it comes from Michoacán México wise

  25. @3:24

Triads control all of Asia. Places like Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, etc and control China towns and heavily Asian populated cities in the world like San Francisco. They have been in existence for centuries. They uniquely work project for governments, such as the transfer of sovereignty to Mainland China. Ironically they assured a peaceful transfer.

Also unique their operation is such that they receive a cut at every step of production. From cultivation to selling to distributors they get a piece of the pie.

They control precursor sale of 97-99% of global precursor production and sale.

They diversify in knock offs and the intellectual market (best in the world), extortion, human trafficking etc

  26. @9:27 pm The violence is way worse than it used to be in past decades, that's a fact, that said it's not the same everywhere, for the most part the truly dangerous areas are easy to avoid for a traveller, it's the people who live in those areas the ones who really see it and live with fear, I keep travelling around Mexico, never had a problem although I've heard lots of ugly stories, basically as long as you take some common sense precautions and are informed about what's going on it shouldn't be dangerous.

It's mostly secondary roads where you have to be extra careful and ask the locals what to do and what to avoid, I went to Maruata a couple of months ago, no problems, yet we were told better not to take any of those roads inland, specially with a car with plates from another state and the usual don't drive by night.

  28. Chinese mafia AKA Triads controls the worlds largest illegal gambling market, which corrupts many well known major sports across the globe and the legal gambling market in Macau is around 6 times the size of Vegas and still growing every year.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @8:34

you are 100% correct...few people know of the triads in the US, I did not either until I lived in Asia.

Macau took away revenue from Vegas, and big Vegas hoteliers like Wynn began building there. I saw an interview with him and he said the tax structure and dive of the economy gave him the push to establish in Macau. Macau is amazing. and Asians are known to be the largest sector of gamblers in the world.

  30. Triads control many illegal global markets and are not just involved with drugs. They are said to make Trillions, making them far more powerful and widespread than Mexican crime on a global scale. China is one of the worlds largest gun producers/exporters, has the worlds largest illegal(endangered) animal trade-shark fins, ivory, tiger, rhino horns and bear parts etc all controlled by Chinese crime groups. From its factories in China, Hongkong, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan they produce 100% of all the worlds high grade counterfeit goods from electronics, global brands, car parts etc. Also China has the worlds largest chemical industry with many pharmaceutical companies being Triad owned

  31. Golden triangle in South east Asia is a major Chinese triad stronghold and is protected by several heavily armed groups- these days its not just involved in international drugs trafficking -heroin, cannabis and ecstacy etc it has a massive newage development project in progress involving the Chinese secret societies building major construction projects -roads,bridge's,electricity substations, casinos, restaurants, hotels and shopping centres. The Chinese are doing this in many other countries

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, basically, the Triads are a criminal secret society which is part of Chinese life around the world. They're accepted in all aspects from the business sector to Government Institutions. Some Chinese, trust them more than the police and would rather borrow money from them than the banks.
The Mexican cartel's are outlaws, brutal killers who trust no one and no normal Mexican citizens trust them. They destroy lives, thousands. Now the Authorities are getting tough and have arrested many of the of the cartels main drug Lords in recent months. The Mexican cartels are relatively new the Asians are centuries old.One will continue to exist for centuries, one will be non existence within a few year's as the war against drugs will continue and whilst the cartels are killing themselves literally,))) the Chinese are embedded in to 1.4 billion people's lives around the world

    ReplyDelete
  33. Chinese organised crimes are more active, present and dwarf Mexican crimes on a International scale. In Mafia capitals of the World- places such as Russia, Japan, Italy, Hungary and Thailand , the Chinese Mafias are very well established and are amongst the most powerful Crime syndicates

  34. Chinese, Russian, Japanese; and Italian are the most powerful and strongest throughout the world...
