The Third Strike of a Presidenta

I know this event has already been covered but I wanted to add more information that has since come out and also share some observations.
Well as was already reported on Borderland Beat the body of the woman found last Thursday morning in a field in the town of Cuitzeo was identified as the former Mayor of Tiquicheo María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar. She had already survived two previous attacks from heavily armed sicarios. One occurred in October 2009 where her husband lost her life and the other occurred in January 2010 where she was gravely injured by gunfire.
It was reported that last Monday at around 0830 AM Gorrostieta Salazar left her home to take her daughter to school. While on her way, on the north part of the city of Morelia, Michoacan another vehicle blocked her path. Two men forced her in a black car with tinted window while pushing and kicking her. This happened in the middle of the street in plain view of many motorists that just watched the event unfold. As they were trying to get her in the car, she begged them not to take her daughter and told them she would get in if they left her daughter alone. They left with Gorrostieta Salazar leaving her daughter crying alone in the car. No one dared intervene to help her.
The family waited for the abductors to call, thinking they would want a ransom or something. When the hours turned into days with no calls, the family asked the police for help locating her. Gorrostieta Salazar was abducted Monday November 12, 2012 and was not offically reported missing by the family until Wednesday November 14, 2012.

At around 0800 this last Thursday field workers from the community of San Juan Tararameo, in the municipality of Cuitzeo discovered the body of a woman facing up wearing a red dress. The woman showed signed of being tied up and had at least two blows to the head from blunt instrument that caused her death. In fact according to the preliminary report of the PGJE it was reported that the cause of death was by "severe head trauma", and her body showed multiple abrasions and contusions that is consistent with signs of being tortured.

The body was not identified until family of Gorrostieta Salazar went to the office of the Attorney General of Michoacan at 9pm on Friday to identify the body.

An investigation to the murder is alleged to be underway and it is not known who might have been responsible for her death. Hopefully the Mexican authorities can find the people responsible. One has to wonder why with a history of at least two attempts on her life she was not better protected.
The state government of Michoacan gave a formal statement that she did not have any dignitary protection because she had not officially requested it nor was there any report of threats on her life.
Gorrostieta Salazar was Mayor of Tiquicheo from 2008 to 2011 and during her tenure she was routinely threatened by criminal groups.

It just doesn't make sense.  Not many things make sense in Mexico now a days, and she just becomes another casualty in what is so wrong in Mexico today.

The political party PAN in Michoacan condemned the murder and demanded justice for the former mayor. Enrique Peña Nieto, PRI President-elect, gets sworn in the end of December, see how that goes.

  1. This iis even more tragic than early reports. Her baby girl at 6 will be traumatized her entire life. Yet another innocent to add to the neverending madness. When will the insanity end???? My condolences to the mother's family and friends. And, may God protect her child. Tears in Texas.

  2. Buggs tks for the translation. I posted the article in the other story. I think you left out an important part of the article, that states when she changes political parties going from PRI to PRD, that she marries her body guard and was no longer a public servant. The families comments that 2 weeks before her kidnapping she had problems with her husband of whom she was separated. This is the part of the article that I feel is intriguing:

Thanks for the heads up. Yes I saw that, and I was very tempted to run with it, but I am glad you got to mention it and highlight it in the comments section. I just felt it was circumstancial but I do admit he is certainly a person of interest and hope an honest Mexican police agency looks into him for sure, and follow through with whatever is necessary to bring these bastards to justice.

I don't post here often, but I hope all the BB community has a wonderful Thanksgiving, give thanks we live in the USA!

  8. I see above in the Spanish text the husband is being mentioned in a certain context,he was her ex bodyguard Patiño Nereo Delgado who was assigned to her after the 2nd attempt on her life,it says she separated from him and family sources are saying 15 days before her death she had a heated argument with him?Whatever the truth its another sad case about a woman trying to better things,as someone else said, another Marisela Escobedo. These women got more balls than the men.Maybe it needs a strong woman to set things straight?Lets face it,they couldn't possibly do a worse job than the half assed macho men could they?Bottom line is,she was a woman killed by a bitch ass man.DEP RIP María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar.

  9. It's really terrible that only the noble ones get killed the quickest. If you dare to speak out or speak up, you can garauntee you'll have a target on your head, and be dead when they please. Bodyguards, escorts, most of them mean nothing, because if they arent already corrupt, they can easily be at the cartels leisurer. What a pretty, strong woman, who had the balls to speak up, and the intestinal fortitude to live through not one, but two attacks. The part that I hate about myself, is I have to see the wounds, and they really didnt make it quick for her, on mundonarco theres a vid of someone taking people out with 2 blows to the head with a sledgehammer. Seeing as how her face is fatter, and rounder than any pic or vid of her, this is what they probably did.. Fucking bastards. Move your drugs, by all means go ahead, but kill the innocent, and the good ones? Why? How do they not go crazy with knowing what theyve done to people.

  11. Why CT? It could just as easily be LFM or Z's. We only see, hear and surmise what we want to. Maybe theres more to it than she is just the sweetest prettiest upstanding honest greatest person on the face of the earth. Maybe her hands were dirty at one time and then fell out of grace.

    1. Don't try to justify & defend CT....Your comments prove that the murder of María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar was ordered by La Puta(whore) and committed by the coward meth heads(CT)...La Puta is so scared that he makes a video begging for help from other cartels and the Mexican government, everyone had a good laugh watching that pussy of a coward leader of CT Begging for help....CT is the worst of all scumbag narco gangbangers...Rot in hell you bastards.

Some humans can with ease, some cannot, its the human condition,it is what makes us fascinating and repulsive at the same time.It has been, and will continue to be.Some of us our born with more aggression and more violence prone, some are more peaceable and steadfast,i know which type we need more of.

  15. 10:38, I'm hyper violent at times, and have been in hairy situations and I got out because of sheer aggression and violence, but even I dont understand what snapped in them to be able to do this, and take pleasure in it. Was it being exposed to this type of violence early in life? Most serial killers, murderers, etc had some traumatic experience as a child that can attribute to the acts they commit later in life, but really? this many people were exposed to a traumatic event as a child? I doubt it. What other answer is there for them being able to do this, and not think twice.. Idk, I just wonder what it's like when they go to sleep. Can they sleep? Do they sleep like babies? I really shouldve went to college. I know what I'd be studying. And sidenote- chivis, will there be an update to the hunger strike?

  16. she was a beautiful woman :( but I think she made a bad decision staying in Mexico knowing cartels wanted her dead.

The cowards responsible will more than likely be worm food soon themselves. Narco's do not live long remember folks and its not the government they gotta worry about its the other cartels.

  19. very sad about this woman. Living in the US I am well aware of the shortcomings of my government as all countries experience nor am I educated enough in the world of government to know the inner workings of the political arena, however if in the US mayors and political people started being killed violently quick action would take place, it would be considered a act of war against the government. Mexico is so overwhelmed right now with all these murders and possible well probable that high up government is aligned with the cartels that no end is in sight. This reminds so much of the 80's in El Salvador. I know it is not popular to say send troops to Mexico and believe it or not operatives are in Mexico and the US actually is in Mexico as we speak. Just because the US is not showing open force they do operate quietly in the background. As in the mid east they blended in the background of the locals and adapted the customs but they were able to gather intelligence in this matter. I have many friends and contacts in Mexico and seeing what is happening to this beloved country is almost too much too bear. I am not some war monger who would love to see the US go into this country full force not at all, it is just getting to the point where options are running out. Legalizing drugs won't turn this country around and give it the help it needs now, the cartels are putting in work in all sectors of the economy, oil, power, etc. At the risk of sounding like a Pollyanna I just want to see Mexico thrive again and reclaim their country. It is embarrassing and shameful that the US conducted fast and furious and Eric Holder should be banished and punished, the US appetite for drugs is also shameful and I understand why Mexico blames the US. What is the answer?

  24. Rest in Peace María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar

Mexico is now like this and the USA is soon to follow.
who do you think moves the tonnage across USA?
the cartels have operatives in every city and state in the union. just simple changes in orders can and will increase violence on average citizens here in the states.

Rest in Peace future overdosed drug users
Rest in Peace average innocent citizens of the USA
