Over 1 million seized in Tijuana

Sinaloa Cartel drug proceeds seized in Tijuana

Last night, agents of the PEP (State Preventative Police), during a coordinated traffic stop, arrested two men, driving a van, southbound to Rosarito.  Inside the van, hidden in boxes, and in multiple denominations was 952,000 dollars in cash.  The money was in smaller bills, consistent coming from drug sales and distribution, one roll contained 6,000 $5 dollar bills.  The two men arrested in the operation are alleged to be in the service of a Sinaloa Cartel cell operating in Tijuana.

Elias Lopez, 'El Panther',  and Armando Limon Arrenado were the two men detained, who told officers the money was bound for Culican, Sinaloa, via Rosarito, or Baja Sur, and was proceeds from drug sales in the Los Angeles area.  'El Panther' led authorities to another safe house, where the PEP arrested two women, Ana Patricia, and Sandra N, 47, and 30 years old.  An additional 102,000 was seized at the residence, apparently hidden inside a couch.

This is the latest in a series of, of escalating seizures and lost product for the organized crime groups that operate in the city.  In recent months, thousands of pounds of marijuana have been lost along the Southern California coastline, which is thought to belong to Sinaloa cells operating in Baja.  More then 700 pounds of marijuana were seized last week at the Otay Mesa crossing, hidden in bundles of carrots.

Two weeks ago 12 kilos of cocaine, thought to be Sinaloa owned were also seized in Tijuana.  90,000 said to belong to the group under Fernando Sanchez Arellano, and also said to be from drug sales in Los Angeles was confiscated after an arrest earlier this summer.  One point of notice is the minimal amount of cocaine seized at the border crossings, and in the city itself.  This suggests a lack of product being moved across the border, or in the city at all. Last year, seizures of upwards of 250 kilos were occurring, at a much higher volume.

Violence in the city has slowed to a crawl, with a minimal amount of murder among organized crime groups.  High profile arrests linked to the cells of Sanchez Arellano occurred earlier in the year, but things have progressed as normal, with no violence, or escalation of conflict following the arrests.

  1. 90.000 from AFO in comparison with these million from CDS. I guess this makes clear who has more activity in this area.

    2. Not exactly, Mexican government has no death penalty or early release on parole. so each person is looking at a long jail sentence. So the more info and people they give up the less time they do.

    3. Shit! I got a 15 agg in D Town, Tx back in 85, and I saw 3 brother from Waco snitching on each other like crazy because they didn't want to leave their young beautiful wives alone for many years, despite the ladies promise they would wait for them. So I think is easy for this guys to snitch trying to put in jail the guy that might kill them for losing that million.

  5. There is way more Money is the European markets...Chapo is literally creating his own coca plantations in Peru and Bolivia. In the near future you will see more seizures in Europe.A gram of decent yayo can fetch 200 to 300 dollars. He is slowly bypassing the Colombians, more profit and no middle men.

  6. I didn't intend to make that point, because I don't think it's very significant, they are just seizures in the area, to the groups. There isn't enough information to make statements about the groups operational strength, based on a seizure of 90k vs 1 mi, because we don't know enough. There are so many variables as to why, the 90k could have money owed on the back end, or money owed period, or someones 3 kilos, or Engineers personal cut. But, that's just my thoughts.

  7. Im sure they found 2 million and only reported 1 mill, since the cops have to take their cut

  8. el "PHADSE" or "FADES" has a heavy presence in Tijuana BC. Him along with a group of "sicarios" are controlling what is knows as El Murua, Los Alamos, Buena Vista and also Otay Mesa. He is working wit the Sinaloa Cartel, and lives in San Diego California, smart kid, im 100 percent sure that he is the one that went to LA for the money and had this runners deliver it, if it was 1,000,000.00 from LA then he kept the rest... SMART kid i say

  9. The difference in seizures isn`t really a sign of who moves more money or drugs, it could very well mean that the PEPòs are only attacking the CDS and those 90000 were just given to say that they are hitting both of them.

  10. BTW, Anyone interested in traslating the Zeta(newspaper) article on the possible execution of el Oaxaco, the plaza chief in La Paz BCS? They say that the Engineer is working again with the Garibay and those are the ones responsible for Oaxaco`s execution.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't think the lack of cocaine seizures means that there is less supply moving through TJ. Whenyou consider the tunnel operations it is clear that they would move the cocsine across in the most secure method. Tunnels

They never touch a suspect even when is obvious whos the killer.

  19. This just means that the Sinaloa Cartel is weak or stupid and doesnt have the local government on their side,in Tijuana Arellano Felix, continues to dominate the drug trade, locally, and Into the U.S.

Sinaloa Cartel only controls 100% Mexicali BajaCalifornia, but we will see how long that will last,Hector BeltranLeyva in coordination with Carillo Fuentes have sent a couple cells in to heat up the plaza and since Chapo is already on the spot light, the plan is simple move in and take the plaza,it will take years but Chapo Isidro knows what he is doing.

  24. 952,000?? I bet thats the amount that was reported..i bet it was 1MIL originally..
also, they say money brom drug sales in L.A as if the cartels have dope houses(dime bags) also...the local gangs control the retail sales..as dum as it sounds but cartels aint gonna dirty themselves having dope houses..there's like 5 middle men before the drugs reach the dope house for retail sale.

The authorities are doing an outstanding job seizing much cash and even identifying sources when normally they can't identify their assholes from a hole in the ground. In fact they are doing so well drugs aren't moving and......uh.....where is the cash from if that is the case?....uh.... Hmmm, plan B, comic book, coming soon.

I might be wrong, maybe I`m just pesimistic, but to me it suggest someone have found better and more effective ways to smuggle it across.

  28. Let's see now. The State Police REPORTED a haul of $952K. Wonder how much was cut out of that total by the boys making the bust BEFORE they reported the haul. Now I suppose it has to go to the Federal Police, then the Federal Government, and finally the residual goes to the National Treasury. Wonder how much gets siphoned off during this process?

  29. A gram of coke 2 to 300 ? Nah .Do you know how much your talkin for an ounce at them prices? 8400 . 140 for decent white, but its never decent.

  37. Wonder how much the mexican government or whoever gets the stuff make in a year on busts like this one? Millions upon millions of dollar in cash, expensive cars, weapons, and so on. Guessing that is helpful in the fight against the cartels, or hoping it is.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If you want to keep the cops from being crooked the mexican government should pay the police department who made the drug money bust a percentage of the amount recovered. The police officers get a bonus monthly/yearly based on the amount of money they bust from the drug cartels. This stops the money coming back in to the cartels and keeps the cops off their payroll.

No brother, not so amazing.Look at the way politicians etc, dealt with cigarette's.It is the most stark statement of just how gullible and sheep-like people can be.People who smoke cigarettes are treated almost like criminals?
Never mind the merits or lack thereof of smoking,health-wise.Alcohol is the worst of the lot,yet we have huge advertising for it and can buy it cheaply. There is no medical proof whatever,of so-called secondary smoke danger.Yet all the sheep and politicians climb all over it.Imagine this scenario, just 15 years ago concerning cigarettes?People are so easily led.None of us are going to live forever. So enjoy it while you are here, and try to act as a human being with a code of morality.

Theres 50 x-factors in that calculation and it varies all the time. And the bottom line is; people who buy coke feed the cartels. There`s no way around that fact. There was something else...oh, yes, one more thing, coke is shit! You`re discussing shit like its something good, on a site reporting on the cartel war in Mexico. Do less coke and you`ll see how dumb this looks. Coke fucks you up, if it hasn`t yet, it will. If you`re really lucky it will only fuck you up and not your entiry family.
