Police Increasingly Targeted in Ciudad Juarez

Police in Mexico's most violent city are finding themselves increasingly under target.

After a renewed crackdown on violence began having an effect in Ciudad Juarez, located on the border with the US, drug cartels have struck back, promising to kill a police officer each day.

Al Jazeera's Rachel Levin reports from Ciudad Juarez.

  1. When they say New Juarez Cartel, is this due to El Viceroy's nephew being killed last year and the cartel breaking up into factions? Any info would be appreciated?

  4. I remember reading a narco banner right after one of the Carrillo's nephews got killed in Sinaloa, they said the Juarez Cartel was under new leadership and they were calling it the new Juarez cartel, they never mention anything about El Viceroy not working with the cartel, but soon after the narco banners, it was said that some of the Carrillo's family members moved from Sinaloa to Juarez to take over the leadership.

  9. Wow..house all the police in two hotels. Gee, hope the Cartels don't run an explosives packed truck into the courtyard and blow it up. Maybe sit off at a distance and put a couple of LAW's into the middle of the hotel. Sure looks like a disaster waiting to happen.

  10. @Feb 2 - 2:40PM,
Actually, there is a conduct policy on BB but of course like most people on here not everybody reads it, so in essence there already is censorship in place. Try not to post things like a little kid with your worthless insults...especially when your posting as "anonymous"...you don't sound "tough" or "knowledgeable" rather like a ten year old, who just learned a few bad words...no one takes you seriously! Grow up dude!
