Juarez' Cops Under Attack Again

A Ciudad Juarez police patrol unit was attacked this morning in the community of Emiliano Zapata, as it patrolled through the street División del Norte and at least two of the officers in the patrol unit resulted seriously injured. 

 The incident took place around 8:00 in the morning when the patrol unit number 151 was circulating that artery and came across the junction with the street Pedro de Alba at which time it was surprised by several gunmen traveling in a brown Ford Explorer. 
 According to witnesses the gunmen fired at least 50 times with heavy caliber weapons at the police officers who were able to repel the attack before falling seriously injured. 
One officer unofficially identified as Juan Carlos Romero was shot in the head and was taken in a private car to a private hospital, while a policewoman identified as Rios Rosas, was taken by ambulance of the Red Cross staff to the same hospital. 
After the attack the gunmen fled due west and abandoned their vehicle on the streets Islas Tasmania and Isla Celebes where it was located by agents of the preventive police that had been in an operation in the city searching for the suspects. Several suspects were apprehended while in their homes and were suspected of being involved in the attack of the police officers.
