Reporting on the Mexican Cartel Drug War

36 Golfos Fall in Tamaulipas

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 |

"The criminal groups of Los Zetas and the Gulf Cartel are very weak tactically, operationally and financially in Tamaulipas," that is what the spokesman for the Department of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jose Luis Vergara Ibarra said. Luis Vergara said this while talking about Marine operations on this region in recent days, that includes a confrontation in the town of Miguel Alemán that killed 10 suspected criminals and wounded 22.

At the headquarters of the Navy situated in this border city, the admiral noted that the weakening of these criminal groups is reflected in the increased use of armored pickup trucks and because the members of these groups have no formal training in the use of weapons, and went on to say that they seem to have increasingly less resources.

The admiral added that in the confrontation last Saturday in Miguel Alemán; "We did not have any casulaties or injuries," and also said that they faced a group of men "who took up arms in a desperate way" and without any knowledge confronted trained federal forces.

Vergara Ibarra said that from October 5 to date, the Navy has detained a total of 36 suspects and 11 more that were killed in clashes with the Marines, and they also managed to seized four tons of marijuana, 65 long guns, five handguns, 18,221 rounds of ammunition, two anti-tank grenades, four hand grenades, 35 rocket propelled grenades and an RPG with 324 RPG cartridges.

They also seized four heavily armored trucks or homemade tanks, also known as Monster trucks.

Among those arrested was Ricardo Salazar Pequeño, alleged head of the plaza in Miguel Alemán working for the Gulf Cartel and Gabriela Gomez Miguel Flores, the alleged accountant for the criminal group

The continuation of these ongoing battles is taking it's toll. Sinaloa, Zetas and CDG are suffering. It is just smart business in a down economy to conserve and build internally. With the international attention, one should consider the drug business a slow economy. These cartels that are trying to bust across territories and take other regions are showing the effects. It is starting to look like the well run cartels may end up on top. The ones that are laying low while all the heat has been flying for 5 years. The two that have been in a survival conservative style are Juarez and Tijuana. They are not throwing money and muscle into anything other than protecting what is theirs.

The Zetas are expanded so far. they are becoming disorganized. Sinaloa has exhausted itself trying to take northern plazas and failed miserably. CDG leadership seems to be in disarray and they seem to be pissing the wrong people off. But you rarely hear anything out of the Tijuana and Juarez cartels leadership. You really don't even hear who their upper members are.

I have to agree especially with the juarez cartel I knew the CDS was never going to take them out of juarez regardless of what is said by the DEA or the papers Juarez has way to much muscle there and across in El Paso. They are there to stay!

LOL, I think I saw that grandma walking around town with one of those bazookas last week.

Oh yeah, year after year we hear the same shit about how desperate the cartels are while the murder rate steadily rises.

324 RPG Cartridges? It doesn't exactly sound like a rag-tag operation. Calderon is in Cd. Mx. claiming paramilitaries don't exist in Mexico, and meanwhile in Tamps. these pendejos are running around with hundreds of rocket propelled grenades. These are already fully militarized organizations, as you can tell by the weaponry, communication equipment, and cash seized over the last year or two from all of the major cartels.

Golfos, Zetas, Chapos, they all extort, they all kidnap, and they all murder.

O.K. some of you regular readers and experts here. Many of the reports on the Mexican drug wars include arrests of criminals of all kinds.

Can anyone tell me what happens after these criminals are arrested. What is the process for dealing with sicarios implicated in shootouts, kidnappings with torture and murder?

I'm looking for more than just "they are taken to jail or prison. This processing of criminals and suspects has got to be interesting.

About the Juarez cartel from the first poster yeh they are laying low key and just fighting off invaders from there turf like sinaloa cartel thats why there not all over mexico placing narcomantas they wanna keep it local to avoid as much heat on themselfs as possible and i also dont agree that sinaloa has taken over juarez like many people believe its still in dispute the juarez cartel is still there in there home city with all there azteca street soilders along with the real top bosses like Vicente Carrillo and JL the second in command of the whole organizaton they did feel the fall of el diego but he was like way less then nacho Coronel of CDS diego was lots of steps down from the number 1 boss Vicente and number 2 guy el JL until 1 & 2 get killed or arrested until then the juarez cartel is here to stay like they have been for the last 20 years

Anonymous said...

Holy Shit!!! 324 RPG rockets??? Where the fuck do they even get the rockets from lol? I don't even think the Taliban have that many in a single area.

Anonymous said...
