Is El Lazca Dead?

During the afternoon of Friday, several media outlets in the U.S. reported that the leader of the Zetas, Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, aka "El Lazca" had been killed in the city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, this came after several clashesin the last hours. The Mexican government so far has denied the death of the Zeta leader, despite social networks reporting the death as true.

This from The Monitor:
"Sources close to The Monitor have confirmed that Heriberto "El Lazca" Lazcano Lazcano, the leader of the Zetas, was killed today in Matamoros after a gruesome firefight with the Gulf Cartel.

Since shortly after 2 p.m., firefights broke out throughout the city as the two forces clashed. Sources claim Lazcano was killed near Avenida Del Niño and Lauro Villar.

U.S. officials said they were on alert to any gunmen or Mexican residents attempting to flee the gunfire in Matamoros after a street battle broke out about a mile south of the Rio Grande.

A U.S. law enforcement official said they have similar information as to Lazcano's death, but had not confirmed whether it is true."

After several hours without formal confirmation of the incident Alejandro Poire, who is Technical Secretary of the National Security Council of Mexico, said that so far there is no information that the Lazca is between the dead from the battle in Matamoros.

However, Poiré did confirmed a clash between members of the Ministry of Defence and a group of sicarios and said that soon more information will be released concerning the situation.

  1. Sounds too good to be true. Granted this is how the leader of LFM died. All the stories about him being paranoid and the assassination attempts by z-40 you think he would be staying out of sight and with a very VERY large security detail of at least 40 cars. But it brings the question why would someone like Lazaca who stays in hiding as much as he does go to the CDG "nest"

  2. Could it be possible that CDG or Zs took the body?

  3. He not dead, Alejandro Poire has already confirmed he's not dead, anyways looks like the Brownsville Herald dropped the ball again. I wonder how stupid they must feel right now, since they started this rumor hahahaha..

  4. Wow! Osama is dead? El Lazca dead, too? Everything has changed and everything is the same!

I guess we should all expect Barack Obama to stop doing these kill counts now? Our ruling bosses certainly won't need them any more ... LMAO at the thought...

Like any of this is what it is all about!??????????????????????.....

  5. He is dead. The army helped the Zetas today in trying to recover hostages from yesterday. Interesting developments.

  6. Texcoco Mex said.

    To bad he didn't die.

It will be nice to drink honoring the death of this piece of shit.

  7. Even if he were dead that would not be the end of the Zetas. You still have Z -40 and el mamito. If anything this might break them up into factions fighting each other like what happened to the Beltran Leyva cartel after the death of Aurturo Beltran Leyva or more recently after the death of " el mas loco" from la familia michocana.

  8. Doesn't matter if its true or not, Los Zetas are to decentralized(independent cells operating alone based on a name) that killing a leader like el lazca won't matter!...
Hope its true though!! Rest in Hell!!!

  9. I DONT THINK IT WAS EL LAZCA WHO WAS KILLED IN THE GUN FIGHT. THE SAME QUESTION POPS IN EVERYONE ELSES MIND, WHAT WAS HE DOING IN MATAMOROS? IF ANYTHING I WILL THINK IT WAS Z40 WHO WAS KILLED BECAUSE HE IS BELIVED TO BE AROUND NUEVO LEON BUT STILL NOT EVEN. EL LAZCA IS THOUGHT TO BE SOMEWHERE SOUTH OF THE COUNTRY TRING TO REBUILD HIS ARMY WHILE STAYING LOW KEY. THIS IS JUST WHAT I THINK BUT WHO KNOWS. WE WILL SEE WHEN THE GOVERNMENT COMES UP WITH THE DNA TEST....

  10. "CDG nest", you reek of law enforcement.

  11. I dont see why Z-3 would personally attack matamoros. If he does, you think he'd be fucking shit up. He's from the god damn navy seals of mexico. I cant think of any reason he'd go in himself. Thats pretty ballsy. Maybe he just wanted to make sure they got the job done and took that plaza. If that was the case...epic fail

  12. LOL @ 10:35. On a side note, can anyone tell me, grammatically, why he's called El Lasca and not La Lasca? Is it because they're abbreviating his last name or a case of machoism?

  13. Ardent...are you smoking a little wacky weed. Your statement is so disjointed that it makes zero sense.

What does Obama have to do with any of this. What does Obama have to do with kill counts. He hasn't ever made one yet and this particular article has nothing to do with the US.

Your paranoid delusions are taking over.

  14. 1. I thought the CDG had all the roads into Matamoros locked down pretty tight. So how did the Zetas get more than 130 SUVs into Matamoros? I can't imagine that a caravan of that size could get anywhere near Matamoros unrecognized and unconfronted. What did the Zetas do, sneak the SUVs in one-by-one?

    2. The ARMY backed up the Zetas in this operation? I thought the government was silently siding with the CDG lately. I mean, all you hear recently is about Zetas being killed by the military, Zeta weapon stashes being found, ect. I know that most every police force in NE Mexico an exension of the Zetas, but the ARMY is, as well now?

    3. After playing defense last year, the CDG has been on the offensive recently, especially in the Monterrey area. So, perhaps, this strike at the heart of the CDG was retaliation in response to the CDG's recent offensive? Or ....

    4. if El Lazca personally led this operation, and more than 130 SUV loads of Zetas (500-1,000 sicarios) invaded Matamoros, backed up by a motorized ARMY regiment, maybe this wasn't simply a tit-for-tat retaliation. Maybe El Lazca meant to forever crush the CDG in one final blow, marshalling all of his resources, and personally leading the attack.

  15. I'm calling bullshit on Lazcano being killed. The article seems to be full contradictions..on one hand they are saying the Gulf Cartel took his body..and then it mentions fingerprints and DNA testing is being done to confirm his death? Another thing..if the Zetas rolled into town with 130 SUVs, along with a faction of the military as backup..Lazcano would have been well protected, BTW how would the Gulf Cartel even know which vehicle he was in or they saying it was pure luck? No way..out of charater for "Z3" to be suddenly part of some crazy large scale attack in Matamoros..bullshit!!

  16. @ 9:41 "I reek of law enforcement" I am a college student with a major no where near criminal justice. Good luck next time dumb ass.

  17. @ 11:00 It's el Lazca because he is male. It doesn't matter that " Lazca" ends in the letter "A" it is masculine so you use the masculine definite article el. Yes it is an abbreviation of his name. Many nouns that end in the letter " a" are also masculine such as el tequila, el mapa, el problema, el tanga, el tema and so on.

  18. What i and probably everyone else are wondering is how a mechanized division of the Mexican Army did
two things! A. One sat by in downtown Matamoros and
did absolutely nothing while a Full Scale "Fire Fight" was going on in a once beutiful "Metropolitan
Tourist City" and the other mechanized Division actually helped these scumbags (Zeta's) rescue their
compadres. But their Not On The Payroll of these
murdering peice's of S--T?? Is there something I'm
missing here? As far as I'm concerned Mexico has to
clean-up it's Act from Within before anyone associated with any type of Authority is ever going to be trusted by the populace in that country
ever! This President is a Lame Duck President and I shudder to think of what's coming for Poor Old Mexico. At this point Pancho Villa looks like a poor
    miss-understood choirboy!!!

  19. Who cares, good news looks like some CDG and Z are dead, if Big boy got it ,ICING on the cake.

  20. So? The 'news' will just go hopping onto the next target, the next kill count 'report'. One thing about these endless wars is that they just don't end... We seem to need the daily bloodshed count? And what's that tell us about 'our; society?

  21. It's funny because if you look at the newspapers in mexico there is not one mention of his purported death.

  22. @ 5:27am, it's okay if you're LE, no shame in that. A college student not seeking a CJ degree interested in this mess? Come on now. A journalist maybe? Be that as it may, you're absolutely right. Lazca wouldn't be in Matamoros, period. If THEY were meeting somewhere (top tier group) it would be in a neutral location. The top guys aren't going to lead a charge. Lazcano is unique in that he hides very well. When compared to the other figure heads, the media doesn't have much to say about him because he's like a ghost and unlike 40, has a brain.

  23. Sorry to get so offensive earlier. But I am a 22 year old college student who is a international business major. This interests me because after having read killing pablo and several other books on the cartels and columbia in the past and having been interested in such topics. When BB came online I was almost instantly hooked from the day they went up. This is history unfolding it is crazier then any book or movie ever could be and its happening every day.

But enough about that. I do completely agree with you about Z-3 not being there most likely was not even within 400 miles of mata. Its too out of place for Lazaca to be be leading a charge of 130 convoys to save 11 zetas. Even if he did ride with 130 in to the city? How does 130 SUV's get split up from the CARTEL LEADER allowing him to not only get killed but the body kidnapped by CDG. If they had taken his body they would be putting up narcoabnners and send out a video of them desecrating his dead body(quartering, skinning ect..) Unfortunate as it may be I am still positive he is alive and well.

  25. @June 18, 2011 2:33 PM

Hey what university you going to? Anyways I agree that El Lazca had to be outta of his mind to be there but some on the forum have been saying he was there to make a truth with CDG and was ambushed. Sounds like a good possible theory. Only time will tell what happen.
