10 killed in Acapulco nightclub massacre

Ten people were shot dead when gunmen stormed into a nightclub in Mexico's Pacific coast resort of Acapulco.

Ten men were killed early today in an attack in a bar in the Mexican city of Acapulco, which also left four injured, said the state Department of Public Safety.

The scene of the attack was the bar "Las Nenas" in the Las Cruces, where it is reported several masked men armed with AR-15 and AK-47 entered the premises and opened fire on the customers

Police received an anonymous emergency call after midnight and on arrival found the bodies inside the bar. The Ministry of Public Security of the state of Guerrero said all 10 nightclub victims, who had been shot in the back, head, and chests, were men between the ages of 25 and 45.

Although authorities have yet to release an update on the number of people injured in the attack, it is said that at least four women were taken to a nearby hospital.

The gunmen fled and there was no report of arrests. The motive was not immediately known.

Acapulco, once a glamorous getaway for Hollywood celebrities, has been struggling to distance itself from a series of brutal killings by rival cartels.

On Tuesday, gunmen pursuing a rival killed six people, including two children, after opening fire on two family homes in Acapulco.

Earlier this month, authorities unearthed nine bodies in three areas near the resort.

  4. This has been my biggest fear as a frequent visitor of Aca. I used to love disappearing off into the "neighborhoods" with local friends to bars like this...Some of my best times. This shit could just as easily happen directly in the tourist zone. Again, Acapulco is way under reported...I can't imagine it's that far behind Juarez in murder these days.

La Barbie used to keep shit really calm there. They have arrested so many members of CIDA including leaders so who do you think is doing all of this these days?
