Girl, 3, and man, 22, shot to death in Juárez

A 3-year-old girl and a man died in a shooting this morning on a Juárez street.

Chihuahua state police said Liliana Hernandez Amaya was riding in the back seat of a car when she was fatally shot in a neck. The car's driver, Adrian Hernandez Jaquez, 22, was also killed. Unclear was whether the driver was the girl's father.

The shooting occurred about 10:30 a.m. on Fernando Montes de Oca at Luciano Becerra streets. Investigators found 13 bullet casings from an AK-47 rifle and 45 mm firearm.

2 boys slain during attack at intersection

Two boys were among a dozen people killed during the weekend in the Juárez area.

Chihuahua state police identified the boys as 10-year-old Miguel Andres Sanders Chavez and 15-year-old Cristian Javier Sanders Chavez.

The boys were riding with a young man in a car that was attacked by gunmen about 12:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Avenida Panamericana and Boulevard Independencia in far south Juárez, state police said. Gunmen fired 36 rounds at the vehicle, a Chevrolet Cavalier without license plates.

Police said the third person had not been identified but he appeared to be in his 20s. No motive for the shooting was disclosed and there had been no arrests.

A spokesman for the state attorney general's office said the triple murder was among eight homicides Sunday and four on Saturday.

The killings appeared to slow down Monday with two homicides by early evening. The dead were an unidentified man found shot to death about 2 a.m. in the Lote Bravo. In the afternoon, 18-year-old Juan Eduardo Ochoa Vera was fatally shot at a house in Dunas de Mexico street.

  1. I and many others cry with great sorrow that the innocent people of Juarez live in fear everyday. Mexico is in a modern holocaust. They are killing their brothers and sisters and children...For what money that when they die. They can't take with them. I will pray and many others do too. That one day they may walk in the street with no fear that their life can end that day.
