Osiel Cárdenas Guillén Incorrectly Reported as Being Released, the Former Gulf Cartel Leader is Still in US Prison

 "Socalj" for Borderland Beat

With Contributions from "Itzli" "Char" & "Enojon"

Recently, the news outlet Zeta Tijuana reported that the former leader of the Gulf Cartel and co-founder of the Los Zetas had already been released from USP Terra Haute Federal Prison in Indiana more than a month earlier than his scheduled release date of August 30, 2024.

However, Zeta Tijuana was accessing a Web 3 variation of the BOP Inmate Locator Registry, likely an outdated database on an internal or test server. That database showed his Release Date [future tense] as 07/01/2024. But his BOP Inmate Number 62604-079, still maintains his August release date on the official BOP website.

Alleged Gulf Cartel Capo Nazario Cavazos De Luna "Big Papa" Extradited to United States

By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat

The attorney general's office of Mexico (FGR) extradited an alleged former Gulf Cartel leader Nazario Cavazos De Luna "Mike", "Big Papa" to the United States, according to a FGR press release on September 26, 2022. He will face charges of of criminal association, organized crime, money laundering, and possession and carrying of a firearm from the Federal Court of the East District of Texas.

The FGR press release claims that Cavazos was a leader and founder of a criminal organization which smuggled large quantities of narcotics to the US between 2005 and 2010. According to the US government, Cavazos was a major figure in the Gulf Cartel who attracted the DEA's attention at least as early as 2011, when a court document referenced him as "a wealthy, large scale international drug trafficker and, apparently, the center of the criminal organization".

In a 2012 case, another Gulf Cartel officer, Oscar Cantu-Ramirez, claimed that he worked with Cavazos to transport and distribute thousands of kilos of narcotics into the US.

A US Justice Department press release said that he was based in the United States, but fled to Mexico, where he was captured by the PGR in Mexico City in 2017.

A Congressional Research Service report from this year shows that extraditions from Mexico to the US are on a downward trend since the Felipe Calderon presidency, further indicating a rough patch in US-Mexico security cooperation.

Translated by Valor for Borderland Beat

Dozens of citizens and neighbors of the municipality of Nochistlán de Mejía, located at 224 kilometers south of the capital of Zacatecas reported on a violent shootout through various social networks that lasted for several hours during the early hours of Wednesday without the authorities having so far issued an official communication in regards to the incident.

Various videos and messages of the citizenship recorded the events where strong machinegun bursts can be heard throughout various parts of the area where the presence of armed groups in the area has been denounced.

The “magical town” of Nochistlán has been a disputed area of alleged members of organized crime who are fighting for the drug trafficking corridor bordering both the north and northwest with the municipality of Jalapa, south with Yahualica in Jalisco, to the east with Apulco, to the west of the municipalities of Juchipila and Apozol, to the north and northeast with Teocaltiche in Jalisco and finally to the south bordering with the municipality of Mezticacán, also located in Jalisco.

CDG:"El Orejón" leader of "los Ciclónes" captured

Lucio R. Borderland Beat using information from Reforma

The Coordination Group Tamaulipas said Friday members of the Ministry of Defense National arrested in Matamoros Angel Eduardo Prado Rodríguez, head of the Golfo Cartel in this border town and premier leader of CDG’s “Los Ciclones”.

Prado Rodríguez, "Ciclón 7 also known as El  Orejón, it was rated as one of 15 priority objectives of the strategy of Tamaulipas security.

The suspect was the sole objective on that list had not been detained since May 13, 2014.

His arrest was made in a raid shortly after six in the morning today.

He was transferred to the premises of the Deputy Attorney Specialized Investigation of Organized Crime (SEIDO) in Mexico City, and is expected to be presented later to the media.

BB Forum poster ComputerJa does an outstanding job following the complicated dynamics of CDG in Tamaulipas.   He weighed in with this:

Judging by the large number of federal agents and by the nature of the operation, I believe that Mexican authorities were planning this out for days and were very close to "Ciclón 7" probably all this week. Shootings began early in the morning on Friday in the Buena Vista and San Francisco (the former is where his legal residence was), and then it spread through other sectors of the city. He was captured around 6 a.m. when the Mexican military finally surrounded him.

Don Alejo: a one man revolution against Mexican cartels

by Chivis Martínez for Borderland Beat
Aside from the moos of hungry cattle, only silence greeted  Mexican Marines as they pulled up to the front house of   Rancho San José.  With guns drawn in a ready fire position, they exited their vehicles and directly spotted four bodies in the front yard.  A perimeter inspection revealed two more bodies.

AK47 shell casings and fragments were scattered on the ground, scores of bullet impacts had defaced the ranch house walls on all sides of the concrete exterior.  Grenades had blown through multiple areas of walls leaving large gaping holes.
There was not a doubt in the minds of the Marines, that what occurred was an intense, violent battle, between the gunmen dead in the home’s exterior, against those yet to be discovered in its interior.

The smell of gun fire still hung in the air as they opened the front door, and rushed in, weapons still drawn, as they spread out and began their in each of the four rooms.
Windows were barricaded with wood, with guns propped against openings to the outside.

Floors were littered with dozens of spent cartridges, interior walls pitted with bullet holes and grenade fragments.
It was in the bathroom that they came upon the lone person in the interior, an elderly man, lying on the tile floor.  The man was dead, with a hunting rifle resting at each side of his corpse.

Marines looked at each other in disbelief as the realization sank in; the man had taken down six narcos, alone…. with hunting guns.  Later the man would be identified as the proprietor of the ranch, Don Alejo Garza Tamez.
Don Alejo
After Galileo’s recantation, his pupil Andrea laments “Pity the country that has no hero,” to which comes the somber retort, “Pity the country that needs a hero.”  For it is the platform for mass action….

It is said that at this time Mexico is in desperate need of heroes, that apathy has permeated   Mexican society of today.  Possibly that explains why, when a man demonstrated to Mexicans how heroes live, and heroes die, that the hero would be a man of yesterday’s generation.  The generation of our fathers, and grandfathers, when those who lived with honor, valor and virtue, were not exceptions to the rule.   Living life by examples set by generations past, ethical standards that were never questioned.
At 9 AM on Friday November 13, 2010, a group of strangers arrived at the ranch of 77 year old Don Alejo Garza Tamez, it was a typical day,  Don Alejo  was at his ranch,  working his land with his ranch hands.  As it turned out, the strangers were there not so much to speak to Don Alejo, rather to deliver an order.  The strangers were narcos, from an organized criminal group, used to getting what they need or want, by any means necessary, but typically means are not necessary, a request is all that is needed.

What they want on this November day is Don Alejo’s Rancho San José.  A ranch logistically perfect for their business of trafficking drugs into the United States.  They left a demand with Don Alejo, they wanted his property and would be back in 24 hours for him to sign over the property.  Don Alejo gave them a quick answer, he was not giving up his ranch, and he would be waiting for them.
Don Alejo’s “San Jose Ranch” was in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, 15k from Ciudad Victoria, and adjacent to Lake Padilla.   He and his brother Rodolfo purchased a large land parcel, which they split; Rodolfo’s half bordered the Corona River.

Ranching and the woods were both embedded in the heart of Don Alejo.  Fishing and hunting were his favorite pastimes as a child in Allende, Nuevo Leon.

The city of Allende sits at the south east tip of the state, about 50 miles from Monterrey, sitting at the foothills of the Sierra Madre.

His father owned a small sawmill, consequently, when Don Alejo was a young child his father taught him to how to operate the machinery and mill wood, which he along with his brothers, would sell mostly in the city of Monterrey.
Growing up in Ciudad Allende provides a massive adventure playground to explore, hunt and fish. Allende known as the orange and honey capital of Mexico, is adjacent to the mosaic landscape of the Sierra Madre, with its forests, grutas (caves) with cave rivers reaching 100 miles in length, ancient Indian wall “paintings” in shearing canyons framing Cerro de la Silla (saddle mountain) its 12K plus altitude, lakes and water systems that cascade over hundreds of waterfalls.

In Ciudad Allende, is the beautiful Rio Ramos.  Ancient Pines and Oaks surround and line the river that runs through the city.  Ramos is where young Don Alejo most frequented to fish, where he would catch catfish, crappie and bass.  When Alejo was not working the lumber mill, it was fishing, hunting, and exploring the mountains of the Sierra Madre.
As a young hunter Don Alejo became sharply familiar with firearms, both long guns and small arms. He had collected guns since his childhood, and he had a reputation for an eagle eye and steady grip, which he put to use hunting deer and geese.  He never tired of his childhood pastime and as an adult he co-founded the ‘Dr. Maria Manuel Silva Hunting, Shooting and Fishing Club in Allende, Nuevo Leon’.  Mexico’s constitution provides its citizens the right to bear arms, however it imposes caliber restrictions, to handguns at .380 or less and shotguns or rifles at .22.

There are exceptions, but those exceptions are severally restricted to those living in rural areas for hunting and target or silhouette shooting.  Don Alejo passes the rigid requirements, which includes character references of six non related persons, with good standing in their respective communities.  This allowed him to include slightly higher caliber weapons in his collection, but not anything comparable to an assault weapon.
The family lumber business was so successful it allowed expansion into lumber supply retail outlets, in Allende and Montemorelos.  The stores were named “El Salto” homage to El Salto, Durango where they acquired the raw product.

It was a wonderful life; success gained by sweat and hard work, not by gift or by “taking” property not rightfully theirs.

One can only imagine what Don Alejo thought about the new generation of Mexicans.  Those who satisfy desires by taking, who traffic drugs, kill, extort, kidnap and terrorize to attain their brand of success.  Those of the new generation, the malevolent 1% holding Mexicans hostage to their rule, who violate with impunity, whose philosophy shuns honest work, finding it far easier to entrap citizens by fear, for personal gain.
Don Alejo and his brother most likely could not have imagined that their choice of land, chosen thirty six years ago because of its ideal location for hunting and fishing, it would also become strategically prime location for the malevolent ones to conduct their business, some three decades later.

Don Alejo’s land is situated on the outskirts of Ciudad Victoria, a city in the turbulent Mexican state of Tamaulipas.  Ranchers in this region were under constant threat and attack.  Don Alejo’s San Jose Ranch was one of the more than five thousand ranches that dot the landscape of Tamaulipas.  His land sat adjacent to the main highway with rural roads where one could bypass main roads for clandestine passage from the south to the north border.
Cartels target ranches with these roads, roads not unlike the one Miguel Treviño was travelling on outside Sabinas, Coahuila, when he was recently arrested.  They “evict” ranchers, and convert ranches to “narco safe houses”, camps and killing fields.

Zetas split from CDG
In 2010 the state of Tamaulipas was exploding with violence in pockets all over the state.  The year began with Los Zetas Cartel rancorous split from Cartel del Golfo (CDG).

The fracture was not a shock to drug war watchers, who had taken note of the discord between the enforcer group, and their former ally.  Trouble ensued after the capture of Osiel Cárdenas Guillén, the premier leader of CDG.
To understand the relationship between Los Zetas and CDG one should reflect back to the arrest of former premier leader of CDG, Juan García Ábrego in 1996, thereafter CDG was troubled by tentative leadership at the helm of the then powerful cartel.

After a couple of failures, Osiel took control, along with his close friend Salvador Gómez Herrera aka El Chava, they became co-leaders. It was Osiel’s who decided to form an enforcer group comprised of the best Mexico had to offer.  Osiel had become acquainted with a member of the prestigious Special Forces agency GAFE, his name, Arturo Guzmán Decena.  It was Guzmán Osiel spoke to regarding the formation of an enforcer group.  Guzmán defected from the military and formed the group known as Los Zetas.  Guzmán was known by his moniker “Z-1”.

"El Wicho" and other Gulf Cartel figures appear in court

Court unveils more details on the men arrested along with Juan Roberto Rincón-Rincón as they prepare for trial

Mark Reagan | The Brownsville Herald

An alleged enforcer for a Gulf Cartel plaza boss was indicted  late September, along with his boss and another high-ranking cartel member, federal court documents show.

The men who were arrested along with Juan Roberto -Rincón made an appearance in federal court Thursday morning for a procedural motion hearings in preparation of trial.

A partially unsealed indictment charges Luis Ivan Nino-Duenes, also known as “Machin” and “XW-13,” along with Jose Luis Zuñiga-Hernandez, also known as “Comandante Wicho” and “XW,” and Armando Arizmendi-Hernandez, also known as “Comandante Mando” and “XW-2,” with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana and conspiracy to import the drugs into the United States, according to the indictment, which alleges the conspiracy began in 2002.

The indictment lists three more names that have been blacked out. The men were arrested along with Juan Roberto Rincón-Rincón, also known as “Comandante X,” on Oct. 26, 2011, after fleeing a gun battle in Rio Bravo, Mexico, where Gulf Cartel rivals were trying to kill the men because of a conflict within the transnational criminal organization, court testimony revealed.

El Wicho Spills and claims he was coerced to give information:

An article from Dec 12, 2011 about El Wicho from Valley Central:
Federal court records say a high-ranking member of the Mexican Gulf cartel was fleeing "certain death" when caught by Border Patrol agents with a gold-plated handgun, cocaine and about $20,000.

The documents filed Monday reveal that Jose Luis Zuniga-Hernandez -- also known as "Comandante Wicho" -- admitted to his role in the cartel's marijuana trafficking operations.

Zuniga also spilled important information about the cartel to federal agents in the course of four lengthy interviews.

But Zuniga's attorney argued in a motion that those interviews were coerced.

The interviews took place in October after the Border Patrol apprehended Zuniga and four other men near the Rio Grande.

Zuniga is charged with illegal re-entry to the U.S. and possession of a firearm by a felon. He has pleaded not guilty.

CDG Narcomantas against Los Zetas in Zacatecas end with "Merry Christmas!"

Borderland Beat

Cartel del Golfo encourage Zacatecanos to continue the fight against the Z's and wishes them "Merry Christmas!"

Zacatecas, Zac.- Narcomantas signed by the Gulf cartel were found hanging today on accesses, pedestrian bridges and roads in at least six municipalities in the state, including the capital of Zacatecas, to summon the people to unite to "fight Los Zetas."

"The war is far from over but we will fight as long as necessary," says a portion of this message, "the support" is appreciated which  Zacatecans have supposedly given to the armed group in its fight against Los Zetas.

"We want  continued support for the fight is not over," they say, and also want to make it clear to the three levels of government  that this fight is not against them but against the other aforementioned criminal group.

"Like you zacatecanos are dissatisfied from abuses that los Z made over six years, where they had the state in depression," they add, and claim that their goal is "to rid the state of Los Zetas."

Messages on the blankets end wishing the zacatecanos Merry Christmas .

According to reports from municipal police forces, including the capital, the narcomantas against Los Zetas appeared in Guadalupe, Moyahua, Jalpa, Jerez and Villanueva, publicized in the daily NTR on its website.

In the state capital, the messages were posted on the avenues of José López Portillo, Adolfo López Mateos, Héroes de Chapultepec and Jardín Indenpendencia, among several  points, from which they were taken down by members of the police and army.

New Group: Children of the Devil is Born

Borderland Beat

THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL

THE NEW GROUP FORMS

The rupture of the Zetas establishes a new splinter group now with the  Gulf Cartel (CDG),  Presently, they are in San Luis Potosi, and some regions of  Huasteca and Zacatecas.
After the death of Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, El Lazca,  new alliances between the different factions of the zetas have increased.
According to a recent military intelligence report, not only division and confrontations existed among the zetas group lead by “El Lazca” and Miguel Angel Treviño , aka, Z-40, but one of the principal operators regional level, Ivan Velazquez Caballero, aka Z-50 or Taliban, had distanced himself from both of them and once again became a part of CDG.  The Taliban was chief of plaza in San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Monterrey and parts of  Coahuila.
On the other hand, Ivan had tested divisions among the loyal people of Jorge Eduardo Costilla Sanchez, aka El Coss, and the people of Cardenas Guillen. Intelligence information suggested that El Coss – arrested on September 12th by the Navy- had turned in Mario Cardenas Guillen, aka M-1 or El Gordo, and Juan Gabriel Montes Sermeño, aka El Sierra.
"Los Rojos" the faction formerly commanded  by the brothers of Osiel has  now formed a new group with  commands given by “El Taliban”.  The new group is using the name  of " Los-hijos-del-diablo“, (The sons of the Devil”), with a presence  only in San Luis Potosi, some zones of the Huasteca and Zacatecas.
The 42 year old Z-50, , confessed, after being arrested by the Army/navy, that he had started his delinquent career on with of Gulf Cartel and that he had never stopped belonging to that group, according to the same source.
He attributes the responsibility for the deaths of the previous months in San Luis Potosí, to Los Zetas, but denies being part of them. Similarly, rejects joining the Knights Templar and accepts that he had always belonged to the Gulf Cartel. "Since I started working, I started with them," he says.

DEATH OF A SON
In his battle with Z-40, he explains that Z-40 began to act in a psychotic way, “doing shitty stuff and killing many people." But above all, he accuses Treviño of killing his eldest son, Carlos Velazquez.
According to the description of El Taliban, Treviño killed his son in Anahuac. He recognizes that some people had said that his son might be alive, but he says that he doesn’t believe that.
“I know the Zetas very well, they say that they have him alive but they don’t, just as they said with a brother in law”. I even have information that they  were burned alive in Monterrey, he remarks.
The kidnapping of the son of Taliban was one of the motives that provoked the clash between the the leaders.
But Taliban, for which PGR offered 30 million pesos to the person that collaborated with his capture, also had clashes with the Zetas of Lazcano, seeking independence and staying with the control of the entities that had been assigned to him by Lazcano.
Unofficial reports refer that Trevino had turned in the Taliban to the authorities, as well as El Lazca and at least a dozen local leaders, with the intention of taking over the remainder of the Zetas in the country.
This entire situation caused the return of Ivan Velazquez to the Gulf Cartel, specifically with the faction of Cardenas Guillen.
On the report, El Taliban said he was native of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas; started his criminal activities stealing cars on his native town and that he has a passport issued by the government of the United States with a picture of him with a mustache that he has not use in a long time.
Ivan Velazquez also denies allying with the Knight Templar, under the orders of Servando Gomez Martinez, aka “La Tuta”.

100 PERCENT SURE
After the PGR announced that they will exhume the remains of one of the parents of Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, William Brownfield, Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics Affairs, said that the United States has no doubts that the stolen corpse is that of "El Lazca".
In an interview with The Guardian, Brownfield said that before the body disappeared that they took enough DNA samples to verify his identity, so it is "almost a 100 percent certainty " that the former leader of Los Zetas was killed.
For its part, the PGR reported that within two to three weeks  the results  of the genetic sample analysis will be available of samples taken from a  relative of Lazcano Lazcano.

However, PGR reiterated that the identity of "El Lazca" is fully confirmed, but it is to comply 100 percent with legal requirements.
To the Secretary, the death of capo on October 7th in Progreso, Coahuila, represents a strong blow  to "the most powerful organization in Mexico."

CDG Dismembers Zeta with Ax: Video

There is a new video that was made by members of the Gulf Cartel. it is shown at the end of this article, but we must warn you that the content is extremely graphic.

This is the full text that was sent along with the recording that lasts for about eight minutes:

"Here is a video on behalf of the Gulf Cartel dedicated to the filthy Zetas, we challenge you to give each other a bump (fight) fucking assholes, this is what is going to happen to all of you assholes and to your supporters, citizens do not fear, we do not come after you, we just came to clean the garbage of people called zetas, we are here to protect and serve the people, we want everything to be secure but for now it is not, so we have to throw away the garbage."

Members of the Gulf Cartel based in Nuevo Leon appear dressed in military style uniforms, they have a man who in their words is a member of the criminal organization known as Los Zetas.

With an ax they start to chop up the man, while the leader of the masked men who appears on the recording, begins to send a message to Los Zetas, who they make a point are responsible for killing innocent children in the recent slaughter in San Fernando, Tamaulipas.

"This goes to all of those damn Zetas of 40, 42, to Lazcano, and to all the fucking people who are supporting the cartel of Los Zetas, this is what is going to happen to all of you so take a look bastards and do not forget."

"Everyone who is working as hawks (halcones), working as pussies, those who finance them with money and sucking everything on them, you know that gentlemen, because even at that we are educated, we do not disrespected anyone. If you all think you are all men, come look for us, see how we are going to receive you with pure lead, pure lead, assholes."

The stranger exclaims; "You are very good at killing children assholes, to kill children in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, you all killed a lot of children. You all take advantage of innocent people."

"This goes to all the assholes, Lazcano and 40 and all the whole ball of faggots, and if you think you have balls come confront us. This is what happens to the pussies who hang out with pussies. Be the Federal Police, or the state police, or whatever fucken law enforcement they are and are, all the fucking law enforcement that are with them, Municipal Police, ministerial police or any type of police that support the cause of the Zetas is what is going to happen to you all."

While one of them is chopping pieces of the man, another man says, "Damn bastards, you are not worth a dick's ass, fucking bunch of assholes, if you think you are big dicks, confront us assholes. Fucking Zetas, filthy fucking sons of bitches. This is for the children killed in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, and for all the innocent people they have killed. Here is the Gulf Cartel to defend you all, viva Mexico. "

For several minutes they describe the violent acts the Zetas perform against innocent people, "For the innocent people, hold that son of a bitch, they have no compassion for the children, for all the women they rape, and with all the innocent people that kill assholes. Why should we have compassion with them gentlemen? Never, because they are not worth a shit. Continue, continue, continue killing innocent people and this is what is going to happen, son of bitches, assholes, You take advantage of the unarmed people."

"On behalf of Commander XL and all of his people. Strike him on the bone, on the bone. They have no compassion for anyone nor children. We do have feelings, but not with them, not with them, not with them," the voice of an unknown man is heard yelling.

It was initially reported that a banner left at the scene had been signed by CDG (Gulf Cartel) but was in fact signed by CPS South Pacific Cartel. We will leave the messages as reported, as this fact is sketchy without actually seen the banners and we let you formulate your own conclusion.

Next to the bodies of a woman and six men was a narco-message that was signed by the Cártel del Pacífico Sur (CPS):

At the scene was a sand-colored Honda Civic bearing license plate GZM-4202 from the state of Guerrero State that had the bodies of the people inside which appeared to have 3 bodies in the interior of the car and 4 bodies inside the trunk. Also found at the scene was a banner with a message signed by the CDG.

The deceased were found tied on their hands and feet, showed signs of torture and suffocation, and so far authorities have identified 6 of the 7 deceased.

A short time later authorities reported that they had in fact identified the seventh victim, who answered to the name of Jesus Chavez Vazquez, 24 years of age, the young man was a construction worker.

By Monday night there appeared at least three narco-banners around Cuernavaca signed by the Gulf Cartel (CDG), where they disclaim any responsibility of the slaughter that shocked the city.

Shootout in Matamoros, CDG vs Marines, 5 Arrested

November 29, shootout breaks out in Matamoros. The shootout took place in Avenida Sendero, in front of a Soriana store, sources state the shootout was between the CDG and the Marines. Reports started to flow slowly yesterday afternoon, but I was holding back on the story because the information was too inaccurate. Initial reports stated, 6 reported deaths and several Federal Agents killed.

People in the area also reported hearing explosions going off, possibly grenades. The criminal group were burning grasslands in the area as a strategy to prevent the visibility of the helicopters. Reports started pouring from all over the place, but nothing of which I felt reliable enough to base the coverage on.

Official statements released by the SSP...

SSP PRESS reported, five suspected criminals in possession of high-powered weapons, handguns and grenades where detained in a shootout that broke out infront of Soriana Superstore. These people moved on Federal Highway from Matamoros to Reynosa, Tamaulipas when taking notice of several elements of the Federal Police, launched an attack with firearms.

Agents responded to the fire and following a chase, the agents were able to intercept in the streets Constituyentes, between Septima y Segunda in Matamoros in a black pick up, plates 15TH538TX.

Message to Z-40; Mensaje Para Z-40

Warning: Graphic content, discretion is advised!
The Narco Messages have been around for a long time, or at least as long as I can remember. It started with simple messages, sentence or two getting to the point.

It later moved to Narco Mantas, long messages that where usually hung in highly populated areas. After that, it moved on to Narco Videos, and I'm sorry to keep repeating Narco all the time, I personally don't like it but there really is no other name for it.

When I first got a hold of this video I really questioned it, thinking perhaps it's a fake. After analyzing the video for a couple of hours and getting other peoples opinions on it, I came to the conclusion that it must be legit.

Couple of things that stood out.. First of all, the lighting in the room, it seems like they perfectly calibrated the lighting so that the only thing that you can see is the body. The camera man never goes out of focus, careful not to reveal anything that he's not supposed to.

At the very beginning of the video you can see that the man holding the spiral notebook is wearing a green striped hat with the initials USA. You also see that he is wearing something around his waist, perhaps a sweater? Now this doesn't seem to be your typical sicarios wardrobe.

The message reads...

Zeta Interrogation; Comandante R1

This is the newest video in the series of CDG interrogation videos. On the previous video I covered, the identity of the captors was unknown, until a lot of people started claiming that the man behind the voice in the video was none other than Comandante R1 (Major R1) who is a high ranking officer in the CDG cartel.

This man has been around for a long time and even has corridos to his name. First question in my mind on the previous video was, why if the captives claim that they gave in to the military forces, how did they end up in the hands of the CDG? Intriguing question if you ask me.

The voice behind the video is the same voice behind the previous video "The Sad Reality Of Los Zetas", but if that wasn't enough the second soldier from left to right seems to resemble the "Small Helmet Soldier" who appears in the previous video as well. The helmet he is using seems to be to small for his head, which makes it stand out. Well here for you guys once again, I provide you with the dialogue of the video translated in English.

Comandante R1
"Well, this time we do this for Mexico to see what the group "Zetas" are.
They stopped being a group of "Sicarios" and are now a group of terrorists.
Here you have some people that they use to harm the society. How?
By throwing grenades at the people, at the mayor's offices, and at women and children.
Their mission is to cause fear."

Letter; CDG to Tampico Citizens

Here is a letter that surfaced 1-2 weeks ago signed C.D.G. I was sitting on this letter for a while because of how it was written, but decided to post it after a conversation I had with a friend who told me "Ya dieron luz verde en Tamaulipas de matar Zetas otraves", They just gave the green light to kill Zetas in Tamaulipas again.

It was strange to hear that because I had not heard of any sort of treaty, but according to what I was told there had been attempts on restoring peace between the organizations, but apparently it was not working out so they called it off.

I had to change some of the wording in order for it to make sense, but here it is for those who want to read it.

Citizens of Tampico, don't be afraid, we only protect your wellbeing. We take care of the "Plaza". We are people who come prepared, we are not young men, we don't kill women, we respect them.

Citizens, don't be afraid, Don't listen to gossip, we don't attack people who are not involved in this. Don't be afraid, The Zetas want to scare you, the Marines are not coming for us. It is against the Zetas.

This weekend respect the curfew; today, tomorrow and the day after starting from 12am on Saturday and Sunday starting at 9pm don't go out. We have orders of defending this "Plaza" from all enemies. We are not responsible of where the gunfights may breakout.

La Compañia Z; Message To The Citizens

A new email has surfaced, signed La Compañia Zetas. Below is my English translation, followed by the Original Unedited Message.

Beforehand, to whoever cares about this topic and wants to know the truth can keep on reading. This is an Official Communication send by La Compañia. We know that all the cities are angry with everything that is happening and are fed up of not seeing an end to this, but here is what is really happening.

They label us as Kidnappers, Extortioners, Murderers and more, but may I remind you all that before this all started, we where under the orders of the Cartel Del Golfo (C.D.G.) from whom we received our orders. Now that they declared war on us, they still want to blame us for burning houses, killing innocent people and more. As if they didn't do any of that, they claim they are this elegant, studied and good will people, so much that they rob clothing stores just to dress well.

They burn houses thinking that it will cause us to leave forever, they kill innocent people so that they can then blame it on us, so that the whole city will be against us, and they turn into the good ones. They put communications in different medias to try and cover the sun with a finger.

We don't need to be telling the Citizens to support us, much less recruit Jr. High students like they do. We are people who are prepared to fight and we don't need people who can't handle a weapon.

They declared war on us and now they can't see the end of it since they are situated in territories in which they can't move towards any side, that's why they need to form treaties with other Cartels to defend themselves. What they don't know is that their allies will end up killing them first.

I hope everything is clear about what the true reality is. Who recruits people who are not prepared, who murders innocent people to then blame us, who want to cause confusion in the city so that the citizens think that with them, all the Extortion, Murder and Kidnappings will end, who publishes thousands of Communications and pay big amounts of $$$$$ so that their videos are published.

We are who we are, we are aware of our actions and before we Act, we plan ahead. All we have left to say is, don't go out or leave your house if it is not necessary, and no matter what happens always try to take cover but keep in mind that we are trained individuals unlike them who don't know how to act in such a situation.
With this we are not asking you to support us or be putting people up. All we ask of you is not to cause us problems and let us work. At the end, the ones who will be victorious, will be the ones who have the most power and strategy to act complete his job. We are aware that we are losing some people, but they will lose everything. We can accomplish our objective without needing the help of the innocent people.

Silent Screams of the Unheard

By RiseMakaveli

Throughout this ferocious war on drugs, we have seen many crimes against humanity. There are so many people suffering that it is impossible to cover everything. Sometimes we as correspondents concentrate so much on the big stories, the big events we know that the public (you) would be interested in, that we sometimes forget to actually concentrate on the people who are actually suffering through this day by day nightmare, which is why I have decided to cover a certain individuals story.

This person contacted me desperately asking for help, and willing to share the story with this blog. I will keep the identity anonymous, but I was asked to publish the name of the person involved. I will translate this for you guys, and I know we try to make these postings with pictures and videos, but this story requires no pictures.

This is a long story guys, so bare with me. I will translate this story word per word, and try to make it as reader friendly as I can, since sometimes when you convert Spanish to English, it doesn’t completely make sense. (Unless your name is bugss, then you have amazing grammar skills).

I will post first, the story in english, then my comment, and at the bottom I will post the entire story as it was typed, just incase you guys want to read the original.

This is Her Story...

Well my boyfriend, Alberto Ramirez Barcenas, he was living in Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas, and I live in Reynosa. Every Tuesday, he would come to Reynosa to visit me, but on Tuesday 2nd of march of 2010 I called him to tell him not to come on that day, he was to show up until the following day, Wednesday 3rd of March.

He later called me at around 3:39pm to let me know that he was ok, and that he would show up on Wednesday, after confirming he was coming, he wasn’t supposed to call me anymore, but on that same day, Tuesday 2nd of march of 2010, I received a call from his phone at 9:45pm, I thought it was odd of him to call, but I answered. I pick up my phone and say, “Hello”, but nobody answers, again I repeat, “Hello?”, but still nobody answered.
