These people, including a woman, are "linked to at least seven murders and four kidnappings," the official said, adding that those arrested are also allegedly responsible for drug trafficking and organized crime.
He noted that they are currently investigating the world of the gang members, headed by a civilian identified as Luis Miguel Gonzalez, to determine if there is more involved.
In the case of the federal police, Sanchez said he may face a penalty of up to 70 years imprisonment for each of the kidnapping, in addition to those received by other crimes, and said that "there will be no mercy" to them.

So far the administration of Enrique Peña Nieto, who started last December 1, have been 94 federal police officers jailed , including the 13 officers arrested in Guerrero, but they've dismissed "many more," said National Security Commissioner Manuel Mondragón.

Five Dismembered Corpses in Acapulco, Courtesy of El Chapo and Friends

Just in time for spring break, drug cartels continue to spread the gore around. Not only are they affecting those participating in the game, but also the local vendors who have nothing to do with their war, but are taking the pinch in their wallets. Who is to blame? Who is winning Acapulco? You be the judge. One thing's for sure, if you want to find beautiful empty beaches and bargain prices, Acapulco may be the place to go. In a twisted sense of humor, it might cost you an arm and a leg though.. literally.
Five People Executed and Dismembered in Acapulco
By Ezequiel Flores Contreras
ACAPULCO, GUERRERO, March 25, 2011
Five men were executed and their bodies were dismembered in this beach destination, along with messages allegedly signed by the capo Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman and directed to state officials and local police accused of supporting the Independent Cartel of Acapulco. Four of the victims were identified as police officers; Jesus Alfredo Way Hernandez, Juan Antonio Moreno Garduño; Víctor Hernández Gutierrez and Felipe de Jesús Ramírez Medina.
This incident took place one hour after Mexican President Felipe Calderon inaugerated the 36th edition of the Tourist Marketplace in the International Center of Acapulco, a location that resembled a military bunker due to the presence of soldiers and law enforcement personnel of three levels, practically bulletproofing the coastal area of Miguel Aleman in the vicinity of Costa Azul.
According to official sources, at approximately 2:00 PM a burgurndy Honda CRV was reported to be abandoned on Farallon Ave, in front of a department store. The remains of two dismembered bodies were found scattered outside the vehicle and three more dismembered bodies were discovered in plastic bags inside the vehicle. The municipal police officers were taken to the 8th Naval Zone facility in Acapulco.
The officers were detained when they arrived early Tuesday at the residence of Acapulco city council secretary-general Vicente Trujillo Sandoval in response to a supposed shooting report.
The officers’ relatives went to the 8th Naval Zone base to request information about their cases.

Deadly Street Shootout Strikes Fear in Acapulco
In the Mexican resort city, gunmen fire at two men in a car and federal police officers. They also shoot at other vehicles, leaving behind casings from AK-47s, which are favored by drug hit men.
Acapulco, Guerrero - A chaotic shootout Wednesday on a hotel-lined boulevard in the beach resort city of Acapulco left as many as six people dead, Mexican authorities said. Police said the gunbattle started when "armed men traveling in several vehicles opened fire on the occupants of another vehicle," killing both men.
Federal police officers patrolling the area came under fire after they heard gunshots and saw attackers shooting at two men in a car, authorities said. The gunmen also shot at other vehicles as they tried to flee, riddling dozens of cars with bullet holes.
It was unclear why the men were targeted. Drug gangs have staged shootouts in Acapulco before, but seldom in broad daylight amid heavy traffic, and never with such a toll among bystanders.
Police tried to intercept the gunmen's vehicles.
While police officers may have tried to return fire, the area was littered with hundreds of shell casings from AK-47 assault rifles — a weapon used almost exclusively by Mexico's drug cartels.
