A violent incident shocked residents of the municipality of Colima, as armed individuals broke into a bakery and killed six people, while wounding another. State authorities are conducting operations to find the killers.

The incident occurred before dawn inside the El Pichón bread-making business, located on Francisco Javier Mina, in the Placetas neighborhood of Colima.

A group of armed individuals arrived at the scene, attacked seven people inside, and then left. After hearing gunshots, neighbors notified authorities through emergency numbers.
State Preventive Police officers responded to the establishment as first responders and found the seven people with gunshot wounds. Paramedics later confirmed that five men and one woman had died.

One woman was injured and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital.
In response to the multiple homicides, the Colima government and the State Attorney General's Office issued a statement confirming the death toll from the attack.

"This Tuesday morning, armed individuals entered a commercial establishment in the aforementioned location in the municipality of Colima and fired firearms, leaving six people dead and one injured, who was taken for medical attention."

They also indicated that the State Coordination Board for the Construction of Peace and Security in Colima is working in a coordinated manner to locate those responsible for the armed attack.

In addition, members of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the armed forces, and the Colima Coordination, Control, Command, Communication, Computing, and Intelligence Center (C5i) are supporting the investigation by following up on the investigation.

In this regard, the El Pichón bakery, which has been in operation since 1990, issued a statement regretting the events and announcing that they would not be able to deliver orders as they normally do to homes and businesses.

"We have been victims of insecurity in our family business. There are no words to express this event. We thank our clients and friends for their concern and displays of affection, and we ask for their humanity and empathy in the face of this terrible situation."

So far, no arrests have been made for this multiple homicide.

Three arrested transporting drugs on a plane in Colima
Mexican authorities reported this Friday the arrest in the western state of Colima of three people transporting 427 kilos of cocaine on a clandestine aircraft detected 200 kilometers south of San Salvador, El Salvador.

In a joint statement, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) stated that in an intelligence and investigation operation, members of this institution, the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General's Office (FGR), and the National Center for Surveillance and Protection of Airspace (CENAVI) located the aircraft carrying drugs and arrested the three people.

According to the information, the arrest resulted from surveillance efforts by CENAVI, which detected the aircraft's "tracking" 200 kilometers south of San Salvador, the capital of the Salvadoran territory, heading toward Mexico.

The SSPC detailed that the tracking "did not comply with current aeronautical regulations when entering our space, so an alert was issued."

“Six airplanes and a helicopter were immediately ordered to take off from two aerial platforms to intercept the clandestine aircraft. Security personnel were also deployed in Colima, in areas likely to land,” the statement said.

The SSPC also reported that “officers located the aircraft, which landed on a clandestine airstrip in the town of Tecomán, Colima,” the site of the three arrests, and “seized 11 packages containing 427 kilos of cocaine.”

They added that the seizure “has a financial impact on organized crime of more than $95 million pesos (approximately $5 million USD).”

The following interrogation video is of a man named Jesus Ramon Felix Nuñez who claims to be the cousin of Rafael Guadalupe Felix Nuñez, "Changuito Antrax" a high-ranking member and lieutenant of Ismael Zambada Sicairos, "Mayito Flaco" leader of the Mayo Zambada faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The United States Department Of Treasury says the following about Changuito Antrax, Rafael Guadalupe Felix Nuñez (Felix Nuñez), who began his criminal career working as a hitman for the Sinaloa Cartel. In 2008, following the separation of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Beltran Leyva organization, a new Sinaloa Cartel armed wing was formed by now-deceased Rodrigo Arechiga Gamboa (“Chino Antrax”) that would go on to be called “Los Antrax.” Among its original members was Felix Nuñez, who then became known as “El Changuito Antrax.” Following Rodrigo Arechiga Gamboa’s arrest in December 2013, Felix Nuñez took on more responsibility in the organization, and on July 25, 2014, Felix Nuñez was indicted on drug trafficking charges in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. He was arrested by Mexican authorities in November 2014 and in 2017 escaped from a prison in Culiacan, Sinaloa with several other Sinaloa Cartel members. To date, Felix Nuñez remains a fugitive.

Since his escape from prison, Felix Nuñez has evolved into a powerful and violent Sinaloa Cartel leader in the city of Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. The city of Manzanillo is home to a large port that shares its name and serves as a gateway for illicit drugs. The port of Manzanillo receives shipments from all over the globe, including cocaine from Colombia and illicit precursor chemicals — including those used to synthesize fentanyl — from Asia. In addition to being a North American entry point, the port of Manzanillo is also a strategic transport hub for drugs ultimately destined for the United States."

The operation, carried out in the southwest port of Manzanillo, seized 5.6 tons of cocaine that were being transported in three small boats.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2024

MORELIA, Mich. (apro).- The Mexican Navy, acting as Coast Guard, seized, in two different events, around 7.2 tons of presumed cocaine, as well as 1,100 liters of fuel, and 15 presumed suspects were arrested, informed the Ministry of the Navy (Semar).

In the first case, 126 packages with an approximate weight of 5.6 tons were seized, which, according to naval authorities, represents the largest seizure of the substance in a single event during the current administration.

The Semar informed that the operation, in which three smaller vessels were intercepted -where the fuel was also transported and where the detained persons were traveling-, was carried out southwest of the port of Manzanillo by personnel on board the vessel ARM Godínez (PO-132), with the support of a Panther helicopter.

In the other event, 32 packages containing approximately 1.6 tons of suspected cocaine, which was being transported aboard a small vessel, were seized southwest of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán.

This seizure was made with the support of the interceptor patrol vessel ARM “Regulus” (PI-1115), a Defender type vessel and a Panther type helicopter.

Both the detainees and the seized material were transported by sea to the corresponding docks, where they were handed over to the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), so that the ministerial authorities could complete the investigation.

Just last May 20, in Manzanillo, the Semar seized a shipment of approximately 1,618 kilograms of white powder with characteristics of cocaine, in 30 packages, as well as 11 cigarettes with dry grass with characteristics similar to marijuana and 1,150 liters of liquid with the characteristics of fuel, contained in 23 drums of 50 liters each.

The seizure was carried out by naval personnel during maritime and aerial surveillance operations involving a vessel, an aircraft and a helicopter of the Mexican Navy, approximately 135 nautical miles (250 kilometers) from Manzanillo, which resulted in the arrest of three people who were traveling aboard a smaller vessel.

Earlier, on April 24 of this year, the Semar announced the seizure of more than three tons of white powder with cocaine characteristics, at an approximate distance of 18.1 nautical miles (33.52 kilometers) off the coast of the port of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan.

The drug was seized when Mexican Navy personnel sighted black packages floating in the sea waters, so they proceeded to their recovery, which resulted in 66 packages containing inside them brick-shaped packages with the alleged illicit cargo.

The suspected drug was handed over to the competent authorities for the integration of the corresponding investigation folder.

On April 10, the maritime authority reported that, through the Fourteenth Naval Zone, based in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, attached to the Tenth Naval Region, located in Manzanillo, Colima, in two different actions, 1,969.86 kilograms of presumed cocaine hydrochloride were seized, and six suspects were arrested.
