Through his social media accounts, Rubén Rocha Moya announced the arrival of 1,190 members of the Mexican armed forces in Sinaloa. This deployment aims to assist in the search for the miners who went missing in the municipality of Concordia a couple of days ago.

"Following instructions from the President of Mexico, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and General Ricardo Trevilla, Secretary of National Defense, as of today, Sunday, February 1st, the search operation for the missing miners in the municipality of Concordia is being significantly reinforced," the governor announced.

According to the governor, 800 Army personnel, 270 Special Forces members, 100 National Guard officers, and 20 investigators will arrive in Sinaloa. They will be supported by three armed helicopters and two T6C-Texan aircraft.

It's worth noting that the Sinaloa Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation into the disappearance of the miners in the municipality of Concordia. The incident reportedly occurred on January 24th after a report was made to 911.

It is estimated that 10 workers, including miners, engineers, and security personnel, were victims of kidnapping. No further details have been released regarding the illegal detention of these employees of Vizsla Silver Group.

Finally, it was stated that the top priority is to locate the miners who went missing in Concordia. This includes pursuing all possible lines of investigation regarding the disappearance of these individuals.

The murder of El Panu and the arrests of the Lindoro brothers only lead to a restructuring of the faction.

The arrests of Mario Lindoro Elenes and Mario Alberto Lindoro Navidad in Zapopan, Jalisco; of Carlos Gabriel Reynoso García, "El Pollo," in Mazatlán; the murder of Óscar Noé Medina González, "El Panu," in Mexico City; and the death of Alán Gabriel Núñez Herrera in Culiacán are blows that temporarily force the Chapitos to retreat and regroup, but they do not weaken them as many believe, observed a source at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, with whom this weekly publication spoke.

“For months we thought the Chapitos were weakened; there was even a moment when their leader, Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, was cornered, but he managed to escape.  Afterward, we believed the group was weakened, but suddenly they returned with force, demonstrating all the power they possess, and now it's unclear how weakened they truly are,” the source said.

However, the real blows against El Chapo Guzmán's sons don't come from arrests, deaths, or seizures, but from operators and entire groups that “switch sides,” as they call those who change allegiances, ending up joining the Mayiza, the group commanded by Ismael Zambada Sicairos, also known as El Mayito Flaco.

“In Navolato, some of their people switched sides, and that's why things calmed down there. But in Elota, for example, the fighting continues intensely. In Culiacán, there are people who have switched sides. But even so, the Chapiza remains strong. They have lost ground, but then they regroup, fight back, and regain territory, and that's why nobody knows how much longer this will last,” said a hitman leader from one of the factions, who requested anonymity for security reasons.

In a poster revealed by the DEA, neither Mario Alberto Lindoro Navidad nor Mario Lindoro Elenes are identified as part of the inner circle of Los Chapitos' financial operators, but Medina González is recognized as a high-ranking security lieutenant protecting the organization, while Alán Gabriel Núñez Herrera is singled out as a key figure in fentanyl trafficking, which, according to the DEA, is one of the faction's main sources of income to finance its war.

Until October of last year, the U.S. agency had identified 21 operators who were still at large, excluding Iván Archivaldo and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar. Of these high-ranking operators, 16 were located in Sinaloa or elsewhere in Mexico, and included hitmen in charge of the group's security, coordinators for the operation of clandestine laboratories, front men and money launderers, and operators for the production and trafficking of fentanyl.

Of that group, all of whom had photos and names, only five remain: Carlos Limón, Jesús Tirado Andrade, Juan Pablo Lozano, Liborio Núñez Aguirre, Noel Pérez López, and Samuel León Alvarado. The rest have been killed or arrested.

According to Mike Vigil, a security analyst and former head of DEA operations in Mexico, although the deaths or arrests of their operators destabilize Los Chapitos, they do not lose power or control because it is an organization that always has other people ready to take over from their predecessors, and in this way, they have no difficulty replacing the people who are important to them. “These arrests and deaths don't weaken them at all, because this is a group that is too cunning, and they are prepared for this. When they lose someone or one of their operatives is arrested, they already have someone to replace them, whether to protect them at all costs, or to move drugs or launder money; they even have the replacements for the replacements already ready,” Vigil explained. On Sunday, December 21, at a well-known restaurant in the Zona Rosa in Mexico City, Óscar Noé Medina González, the alleged head of security for Los Chapitos, was executed. At the time of his death, he is believed to have been Iván Archivaldo's main lieutenant in charge of the group's security. It is presumed that his torture and execution were carried out by people linked to La Mayiza.

A day later, on Tuesday, December 23, hours before Christmas, Carlos Gabriel Reynoso García, "El Pollo," was arrested along with Jesús Arturo Dávalos Valenzuela, who were apparently linked to the Chapitos, in Mazatlán. At the time of their capture, tactical equipment was seized, including weapons for the exclusive use of the army and communication equipment.

That same Tuesday, Mario Lindoro Elenes, "El Niño," and his son Mario Alfredo Lindoro Navidad, "El 7," Iván Archivaldo Guzmán's father-in-law and brother-in-law, were arrested. Financial operators of "Los Chapitos" linked to drug and arms trafficking are arrested in Jalisco.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office charged Mario N. and Mario Alfredo N., relatives and financial operators of the criminal group known as Los Chapitos, before a federal judge for their probable involvement in several crimes.

The defendants are Mario Alfredo L., 44 years old, alias "Siete," brother-in-law and financial operator of Iván Archivaldo G., known as "El Chapito," and Mario L., 69 years old, alias "Niño," father-in-law and also identified as a financial operator of Iván Archivaldo G.

During the hearing held at the Puente Grande Courthouse, the judge declared their arrest by federal forces legal and ordered their pretrial detention, after the defense requested an extension of the constitutional deadline of 144 hours to gather evidence in their defense.

Mario N. was charged with drug offenses, specifically possession with intent to distribute, in the form of selling methamphetamine hydrochloride; possession of a firearm and ammunition for the exclusive use of the armed forces; and money laundering.

Mario Alfredo N. was charged with drug offenses, specifically possession with intent to distribute, in the form of selling methamphetamine hydrochloride and fentanyl; possession of firearms and ammunition also for the exclusive use of the Army and Armed Forces; and money laundering.

The judge ordered both men held in pretrial detention until the resumption of the hearing, at which time it will be determined whether there is sufficient evidence to formally charge them with the aforementioned crimes.

Both men were arrested on Tuesday in an operation carried out by the Attorney General's Office and the Mexican Army, which raided two residences in the Bajío de Zapopan and Vallarta Universidad neighborhoods.

During the operation, authorities seized seven bags of drugs, four handguns, ammunition, magazines, two SUVs and a luxury vehicle, a motorcycle, cell phones, and cash.

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection reported this Tuesday afternoon that, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office and the Mexican Army, they raided two residences in the Bajío de Zapopan and Vallarta Universidad neighborhoods.

There, they arrested Mario Alfredo L., 44, alias "Siete," the brother-in-law and financial operator of Iván Archivaldo G., known as "El Chapito," and Mario L., 69, alias "Niño," also identified as a financial operator and the father-in-law of the same leader of that criminal group.

Authorities seized seven bags of drugs, four handguns, ammunition, magazines, two SUVs and a luxury vehicle, a motorcycle, cell phones, and cash.

In another operation carried out in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, members of these law enforcement agencies arrested Carlos Gabriel R., 37, also known as "Pollo," the leader of a criminal cell known as Los Jordán, linked to the Los Chapitos faction of the Pacific or Sinaloa Cartel. Jesús Arturo, 40, was also arrested.

The night of this past Sunday, December 21, 2025, rumors swirled about a high-profile murder taking place in Mexico City. This armed attack took place in "Zona Rosa" or "Pink Zone," in the borough of Cuahtemoc in Mexico City. The Pink Zone is renowned for its vibrant nightclubs, restaurants, and nightlife. The male subject, who was attacked while eating in a restaurant alongside his family, was named Oscar Ruiz, an alleged Mazatlan hotel business owner. Reports later changed to reveal that Oscar Ruiz was actually Oscar Noe Medina Gonzalez, "El Panu," or "El Lobo," for whom the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the U.S. Department of State offer a $4 million reward. The United States Government describes El Panu's role in the Los Chapitos Cartel as, 

"the principal deputy for Ivan Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, a high-level leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, and the day-to-day commander of Guzmán Salazar’s and his brothers’ – the Chapitos’ – security apparatus.  Medina Gonzalez oversees each of the Chapitos’ regional commanders, who are responsible for security in their designated areas of Mexico, and the Chapitos’ gunmen — the sicarios — who are dispatched where needed to protect the Chapitos’ fentanyl trafficking operations, assassinate rival cartel members, demolish unsupportive businesses, capture contested territory, intimidate civilians, and attack law enforcement, in furtherance of the Cartel’s fentanyl trafficking business."

On the night of December 21, 2025, a man was shot and killed inside the Luau restaurant, located in the Juárez neighborhood of the Zona Rosa in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City. The attack was a targeted killing perpetrated by at least one hitman.  Authorities in Mexico City are investigating whether the victim was Óscar Noé Medina González, also known as “El Panu,” an alleged high-ranking operative of the Los Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel and a target of the U.S. government, which had offered a reward of up to $4 million for his capture.

According to initial reports from the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Mexico City Attorney General's Office (FGJCDMX), the attack occurred inside the Luau restaurant on Niza Street, where a woman and two men were eating when an armed man entered and fired directly at one of them. The gunman then fled on a motorcycle with an accomplice, and as of yet, no arrests have been made. According to official reports, one man died at the scene, and another person was injured by gunfire and taken to a hospital, while the woman accompanying them was unharmed.

Mexico City authorities reported that SSC (Mexico City Police) personnel cordoned off the area and notified the Public Prosecutor's Office, which opened an investigation into intentional homicide and injuries caused by firearms.  They also ordered a review of C5 (Mexico City's integrated command and control center) surveillance footage from Niza Street and surrounding areas to reconstruct the attackers' escape route. At the crime scene, forensic services collected 19 ballistic evidence items, including spent shell casings of 9mm and .45 AUTO caliber, as well as a loaded magazine. The victim's body had 28 injuries, 27 of which were gunshot wounds to the face, head, chest, and extremities, as documented in the forensic reports.

Initially, the murdered man's partner identified him as Óscar Ruiz Domínguez and stated that they had arrived in Mexico City on December 20, 2025, and were staying in a rented house in Naucalpan, State of Mexico. The woman, identified as María José Rojo Sambrano, informed authorities that she had been in a relationship with the victim for six years, that she did not know his phone number because they only communicated through the Telegram app, and that he was allegedly involved in real estate transactions, although she was unaware of any threats against him or his criminal record.

However, sources consulted by various media outlets and journalist Carlos Jiménez, known as C4 Jiménez, indicated that there are signs that the murdered man was actually Óscar Noé Medina González, alias “El Panu,” an alleged member of the Los Chapitos faction. According to these reports, the victim's mother, identified as Guadalupe González, reportedly confirmed to authorities that the deceased man was her son, Óscar Noé, although she stated that he was involved in agricultural activities in Durango and said she did not know what her son did for a living. Other versions suggest that the deceased was a partner in a hotel chain in Mazatlán, which is part of the lines of investigation being reviewed by Mexico City authorities.

Information incorporated by the media from U.S. federal documents indicates that Óscar Noé Medina González, alias “El Panu,” was considered a high-ranking operator of the Los Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel and one of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar's main lieutenants. According to U.S. government wanted posters, “El Panu” allegedly served as head of security for Joaquín Guzmán Loera's sons and led an operation dedicated to trafficking cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and marijuana from Mexico to the United States, for which a reward of up to $4 million was offered for information leading to his arrest or conviction.

The profiles released about Medina González describe him as maintaining a low profile that allowed him to stay off the radar of rival organizations and Mexican and U.S. authorities, despite occupying a significant position within the criminal structure. journalistic reports mention that “El Panu” allegedly assumed the head of security for Los Chapitos after the murder of Jorge Humberto Figueroa Benítez, alias “El 27” or “La Perris,” which placed him in a strategic position within the group's organizational chart. To date, the Mexico City Attorney General's Office (FGJCDMX) and the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) have not officially confirmed that the person murdered at the Luau restaurant is Óscar Noé Medina González, alias “El Panu,” and they are keeping the investigation open to corroborate the deceased's identity through forensic analysis and national and international intelligence sharing. Americans, Venezuelans, Guatemalans, and French nationals, as well as people from other states, have been arrested during clashes and operations in Culiacán and Navolato.

Foreigners from the United States, France, Venezuela, and Guatemala have arrived in the state, where they have been arrested as part of the two factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, which have been engaged in a war for control of the territory since last September.

People from Jalisco, Durango, Michoacán, Sonora, and Baja California have also joined the dispute between the Mayos and Chapos factions, participating in clashes or being captured in coordinated operations in both urban and rural areas of Culiacán and Navolato.

On November 19, 14 men were apprehended at a hotel in Navolato, including two Guatemalans and one Venezuelan. Authorities seized 13 long guns, a machine gun, 15 magazines, and more than 420 rounds of ammunition of different calibers.

In Navolato, the Sinaloa Cartel cells have intensified clashes, murders, and attacks with explosives against businesses, and one explosion even occurred at a party, leading to constant school closures, especially in the Villa Juárez district.

In an operation carried out last Friday morning in the Portalegre sector north of Culiacán, elements of the Special Operations Group (GOES) of the State Preventive Police and the National Guard captured 10 alleged hitmen, among whom, according to unofficial reports, were individuals from Jalisco, Mexicali, and Michoacán.

The detainees were found outside a residence next to a black vehicle, and were carrying nine long guns, a machine gun, a pistol, 1,225 rounds of ammunition, and 33 magazines, in addition to tactical equipment, eight ballistic vests, seven tactical helmets, and seven buckets of tire spikes. On Saturday, November 15, cells of the Sinaloa Cartel clashed in the town of El Guasimal, located in the municipality of Imala, Culiacán.  A ground and air operation was launched in the area, resulting in the arrest of nine men, one of whom was identified as Ogelian Fabio “N,” a French national.

Two vehicles were found in the area with their doors open, each containing the bodies of two men who had been shot to death. Another body was found on a dirt road. Authorities seized two machine guns, 21 rifles, more than 3,350 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 15 bulletproof vests, and three vehicles, two of which had makeshift armor plating.

On November 5, in Culiacán, Daniel Silvestre Manjarrez, also known as "El Dany," a U.S. citizen, was arrested at a residence in the Infonavit Humaya neighborhood. He was wanted by the U.S. for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and had an Interpol Red Notice issued against him by the FBI.

“Security agents identified the property where one of the most wanted targets by U.S. authorities was hiding, and during reconnaissance patrols, they detected the subject's presence. They ordered him to stop, confirmed his identity, and he was arrested,” said Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection.

On October 23, 2025, Erick L., a U.S. citizen, was shot and killed at midday inside a house located on Jorge Romero Zazueta and Luis M. Rojas streets, in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood in Culiacán.

Five days earlier, federal forces freed a U.S. citizen who had been kidnapped from a home in the Espacios Barcelona subdivision in this city, and arrested three of his captors, including a woman.

In Culiacán, another U.S. citizen, identified as Gabriel Seth Rodgers, 26 years old, originally from Sundance, was arrested on March 27. The young man had fled to Mexico while on parole in the state of Wyoming, where he was sentenced in 2019 to 44 months in prison and 36 months of supervised release for stealing more than 30 weapons from a pawn shop a year earlier, which he sold in Colorado.

At that time, the 19-year-old was charged with possession of stolen firearms and conspiracy to distribute LSD and marijuana.

The U.S. Department of Justice reported that Rodgers violated his parole and traveled to Culiacán, Sinaloa, where he trafficked fentanyl and methamphetamine under the protection of the Sinaloa Cartel. On November 3, a judge in Cheyenne sentenced the young man to 30 years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release.

Another U.S. citizen, identified as Matthew Kenneth Rewald, 30 years old, was arrested in Mazatlán on July 8 of this year. He had irregular immigration status and was linked to drug trafficking and arms smuggling for the Sinaloa Cartel, as well as pedophilia.

During the attack, it was reported that the attackers set fire to the facade, and the fire spread throughout the entire house.

A fierce armed attack took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in the town of Villa Unión, where armed individuals arrived at a house located on Manuel Arroyo street in the Sixto Osuna neighborhood.

There, they began shooting at the facade of the house, where a man and a woman lived, who were identified as Vicente "U" and Daniela "N," and who were found dead in the bathroom.

During the attack, it was reported that the attackers set fire to the facade, and the flames spread throughout the house. Neighbors and workers living near the man's home began efforts to extinguish the intense fire.

The attack began in the early morning hours.

According to reports, it was around 2:30 a.m. this morning when residents began to hear the loud bursts of gunfire from different caliber weapons, which left bullet holes in the facade of the house.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., members of various security forces, including the Mazatlán Public Security Secretariat, the Mexican Army, and the Mexican Navy, arrived at the scene to secure the area.

Meanwhile, experts from the State Attorney General's Office are conducting the initial investigation into the high-impact incident to compile the investigation file.

Likewise, efforts are underway to have a funeral home on call to pick up the bodies of the deceased and take them to the Forensic Medical Service where they will be claimed by their families.

The three individuals had a pill compacting machine, two presses, and two scales confiscated from them in the state capital.

Federal agents arrested three suspected criminals in Culiacán, who were dressed in white like medical students, and seized 5 kilograms of fentanyl, a rifle, and various other items related to criminal activity.

Agents from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Mexican Army, and the Attorney General's Office (FGR) located two properties that were allegedly being used as clandestine laboratories.

After searching the two properties, federal agents apprehended the three individuals and confiscated a rifle, fentanyl, chemical precursors, and materials for manufacturing pills.

Items seized:

• 1 long firearm
• 10 cartridges
• 5 kilograms of fentanyl
• 250 liters of chemical substances
• 1 pill compacting machine
• 2 presses
• 2 scales

The three alleged criminals arrested and the seized evidence were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) for the corresponding investigations and to determine responsibility.
