Griselda And Noel Lopez Perez: Altars and Basements, Printed Edition by RIODOCE

NOEL LOPEZ PEREZ

The first time I saw Griselda López Pérez was in the Ríodoce office. We had an apartment at 767 Francisco Villa Street, and she was accompanied by two lawyers, one very young, perhaps an intern. We had published a report involving her brother, Noel, based on events that occurred outside the Ninth Military Zone and confidential SEDENA files that had been found one day under the door.

On September 19, 2006, a body was dumped in front of the entrance to the military zone, and a message was left for the then-garrison commander, Rolando Eugenio Hidalgo Eddy. "FOR BEING A RAT, Eddy." It was some time later that we received "secret" reports from Army intelligence units in this area and discovered that the message left on the body of Jesús Enrique Parra Torres had been altered by the military. To the phrase "FOR BEING A RAT... Eddy," they added "Sincerely, Noel L.P.," referring to Griselda's brother.

The woman's visit to our newsroom was to clarify that her brother had nothing to do with illicit activities. We asked the young man to give us an interview so he could defend himself, and he agreed. The manipulation of the message was incontrovertible, based on the photographs the soldiers themselves had taken and attached to the report of the incident. I then asked Javier Valdez to conduct the interview, which would be the next day in Jesús María. Edgar Guzmán López had already been killed, and an imposing mausoleum was being built next to the cemetery. Javier was received courteously, but in the end, Noel refused to give the interview, so Bato returned with only a couple of bags of empanadas and coricos that were baked in the family's ovens and that had been given to him. They agreed to publish a note in which Griselda clarified things, on the condition that we see it before it was posted online. The young lawyer returned to the office, we printed it, took it to her, and a short time later, he called us and told us it was best not to publish anything. In July 2023, the United States Treasury Department included Noel López Pérez on a list of Chapitos collaborators.

The second visit by Chapo Guzmán's ex-wife to Ríodoce was in October 2012, when Alejandrina Gisselle Guzmán Salazar, the kingpin's daughter by his first wife, was arrested at a San Ysidro prison. Ninety-nine percent of the media outlets that reported the news included a photograph of Griselda's daughter, Grisel Guadalupe, and that worried her. She perhaps thought we had done the same, but that wasn't the case. I had her daughter very well located—there aren't many photos of the other woman—because in those years the drug lords uploaded hundreds of photographs to Metroflog—then to Facebook and Instagram—and among them were photos of Grisel. No, I told her, look at the article, we didn't post photos of her daughter, because, besides, we located her very well, look. And I showed her a folder on my computer with two dozen photographs of her daughter on her trips and parties. And why does she have them? she asked me. Because she or her friends upload them to social media, I said. She calmed down, we talked for a while—Javier was there—and she only allowed me to take photos of her handbag, a Louis Vuitton. When she left, we saw her through the window getting into a small white van with impenetrable windows.

The third time I saw her was at a bass fishing tournament at the El Varejonal dam. It was organized by the municipality of Badiraguato, and the teams were leaving from Jesús María. It was in the afternoon, when the boats were already returning to weigh their catches. I preferred not to be seen; you never know. Late in the afternoon, two municipal police patrols arrived at Griselda's location. Suddenly, the officers formed a crescent moon, and she stood in front of them and spoke to them for several minutes, something I didn't hear. A sort of commander, but not in uniform. He had arrived at the camp in a Land Rover.

Ball and Chain

I returned to Jesús María days after Ovidio was taken away in the midst of that melee that left dead everywhere. I asked about her and was told she wasn't in town. I returned with Roxana in July, maybe August of last year, after Joaquín surrendered to the United States, taking with him that "expensive gift" to the gringos, El Mayo. We went to her house and asked to speak with her for an interview. Someone delivered the message and came back to tell us she wasn't there. And if she was, she didn't want to see us, although this time there weren't even any shouts.

Otherwise

NOW THE LADY WAS AT THE HEAD OF the group of 17 members of her family who crossed the San Ysidro border crossing to take refuge in the US government, as a result of a negotiation between her son Ovidio and the US prosecutors. We'll soon find out if her brother is involved in the chain.

Black Smoke

I REMEMBER THE FEAST OF MANY Morena supporters when Gerardo Vargas joined their party. The same thing happened with the PAN supporters when Malova ran for the PAN against Jesús Vizcarra, and Vargas was his right-hand man. Now the defrocked mayor of Ahome faces accusations that are derailing him from the race for governor, his golden dream. He's too smart and has too much money, his two deadly sins. Hence the relentless and sought-after action by auditors, prosecutors, and judges.

Isn't it inconsistent what the United States is doing in this act of receiving certain individuals and, on the other hand, naming the organizations as terrorists?

They have to provide the information.
First and second, why is the information?
They haven't reported it, right?
Why did they enter?
We don't have official or public information that says why this family entered.

We must remember the issue of extradition again, and yes, indeed, there is a policy of not negotiating with terrorists.

They, in a decision to name some organized crime organizations as terrorists.

So, then, they should report if there is an agreement. If there isn't an agreement, they have to report it and they have to explain to the people of the United States how they are reaching an agreement.

How is it that they are doing it? And to Mexico, obviously, why? First They are Mexican, and secondly, one of their relatives was extradited, meaning there is an investigation file here.

There were even more members of the army who died in that operation. So that's why we say that there is information that we don't. The issue isn't whether we fight organized crime or not.
If we don't want that to happen, of course we do.

And we are doing our job. The issue here is what information there is and how they explain this.

So they have to inform. They have to inform, President.
Yesterday in the United States, the first indictment was made.

Culiacán, Sinaloa.- The girls Leydi and Alexa lost their lives due to a mistake by soldiers who shot them in Badiraguato, their families reported.

Their loved ones have spoken out on social media to clarify that the girls' deaths were not due to "crossfire" in a confrontation in Badiraguato, but rather that the soldiers mistook the van in which the family was traveling and opened fire.

An aunt and cousin of the girls stated that it was a totally unjust act, stating that the military is there to fight crime, not to take the lives of innocent girls.

“May 6th, the day my little girls, Leydi and Alexa, had their lives taken away, being just totally innocent girls unaware of all the events that occurred in Badiraguato, the authorities are currently handling it as “collateral damage” or “crossfire” unfortunately the information that the authorities or some media report is TOTALLY FALSE, the government only talks about what suits them, my little girls had their lives taken away by the MILITARY, yes, our own government, the military confused the car in which my family was traveling and began to shoot incessantly until they ended the lives of my girls, it is a totally unjust act, they are supposed to “fight crime” but this time they themselves took the lives of my little girls, they took away their dreams in an instant, this cannot go unpunished, for my little girls, niece and cousin. NOT WITH GIRLS AND BOYS!!!”, it was expressed in the message.

It's worth remembering that this unfortunate incident occurred on May 6 in Badiraguato, following reports of an alleged confrontation between authorities and armed civilians.

The parents of one of the deceased girls were injured, as was another 12-year-old boy named Gael, who remains hospitalized.

Culiacán, Sinaloa.- In the early hours of Thursday, January 23, the emergency line was informed of the detonation of an explosive device at the cenotaph of Edgar Guzmán López, son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the City Club, on Universitarios Boulevard, where the cenotaph is located.

The cenotaph was found almost destroyed at the site, only the giant cross that characterizes it remained standing with pieces of concrete lying around it.

On one side of the cenotaph was a blue 2015 Sentra vehicle, which was apparently affected by the same explosion, where pieces of glass and spilled gasoline were left lying around.

The affected vehicle belonged to a store employee, who said that he arrived early, parked as usual, and upon hearing the explosion discovered that his car had been damaged in its windows, bodywork, and gas tank.

It was at 7:30 in the morning when the loud explosion was heard in the Tres Ríos sector and the municipal police were the first to respond, arriving in 20 minutes.

Then the Culiacán Fire Department arrived to prevent the spilled gasoline from starting a fire. At almost 9:00 am, investigative personnel from the State Attorney General's Office arrived.

Drug trafficker Juan Carlos Ramirez, Alias Chupeta, Won His Freedom In The U.S.: He Testified Against 'El Chapo' Guzman

The ex-capo managed to prove the veracity of his statements against the head of the Sinaloa Cartel, providing several of his routes, meeting places and even the names of some of his associates.

There is news of Colombian drug lord Juan Carlos Ramírez Abadía, known as alias Chupeta: his release in the United States was confirmed after reaching an agreement with the US justice system, despite having been sentenced in August 2023 to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking, homicide and money laundering-related crimes.

According to what was known, the drug trafficker obtained his freedom in October 2024, when he signed an agreement in exchange for the information he provided about Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa cartel.

According to judicial sources consulted by El Tiempo, Ramirez Abadia became a “super witness” by providing crucial details about the cartel's operations, including routes, associates and meetings, which contributed to Guzman's conviction to life in prison plus 30 years.

Chupeta, who was part of the Norte del Valle cartel, has been relocated under a new identity to a protected area of the United States as part of a witness protection program. This benefit was also extended to his close family circle, who were relocated to the US.

“He managed to be a super witness, and apparently he proved it against 'Chapo Guzman', the information he gave referred to his beginnings at the side of Hector Luis Palma, in the 90's, when the control of coca was held by the 'Cali cartel' and the 'Nortel de Valle',” said one of the sources informed to the national newspaper.

Among the conditions imposed by the U.S. justice system on the Colombian ex-capo was the promise not to commit any more crimes and thus enjoy his full freedom with his family.

Born in Palmira, Valle, Ramírez Abadía joined the Cali cartel at an early age, under the leadership of the Rodríguez Orejuela brothers. Known for his well-groomed appearance and passion for fine horses, Chupeta branched out on his own and set up his own laboratories to process cocaine, building his criminal empire.

In 1996, Chupeta turned himself in to the authorities and was sentenced to 24 years in prison, although he only served eight years due to his collaboration with justice. In 2007, he was captured in Brazil during an operation against an international money laundering network. To avoid being identified, he underwent multiple plastic surgeries that altered his appearance.

Extradited to the United States, Chupeta became a key witness against several drug lords, including 'El Chapo' Guzmán.

El Chapo's conviction was based, in part, on the testimony of Juan Carlos Ramírez Abadía - credit Government of Mexico

Juan Carlos Ramírez Abadía, known as “Chupeta,” was sentenced to 20 years in prison by Judge Brian Cogan at a Brooklyn court hearing on August 14, 2023. Ramírez Abadía, a former leader of Colombia's Norte del Valle Cartel, collaborated with Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and later testified against him in the so-called “trial of the century”.

Despite his cooperation with authorities, he was unable to avoid conviction at the time due to the serious crimes he faced in the United States, including murder, drug trafficking, organized crime and money laundering.

During the hearing, Judge Cogan highlighted the importance of “Chupeta's” collaboration in cases against figures such as Guzmán Loera, convicted in the same court in July 2019, and Jesús “El Rey” Zambada. However, the judge argued that this cooperation did not erase the crimes committed, recalling Ramírez Abadía's responsibility in at least 150 murders.

Ramírez Abadía's defense attorney argued that his client had participated in 75 percent of the high-level cases in the Eastern District of New York involving Colombian and Mexican drug traffickers. According to statements released by journalist Keegan Hamilton, the lawyer claimed that if cooperation were measured on a scale of one to ten, Ramírez Abadía would be an 11, in an attempt to obtain benefits for his client.

Born in 1963 in Palmira, Colombia, Juan Carlos Ramirez Abadia became one of the country's most powerful criminal leaders towards the end of the 20th century. The U.S. government traced the start of his criminal career to 1986, when he became involved in drug trafficking. By the mid-1990s, he headed the North Valley Cartel, an organization that shipped large cocaine shipments to cities such as Los Angeles and San Antonio via Mexico.

The U.S. Department of Justice identified that between 1989 and the following years, Ramírez Abadía played a crucial role in trafficking drugs into the country. His testimony was pivotal in the trial against El Chapo, where he detailed the joint operations between his cartel and the Sinaloa cartel, led by Guzman.

Marcelino Ticante Castro, El Fantasma or Ghost, alleged former security chief of Joaquín el Chapo Guzmán Loera, was arrested last Sunday, November 3, in the vicinity of the Cuba field, in the Costa Rica syndicate, south of the city of Culiacán.

The National Registry of Arrests indicates that El Fantasma was apprehended by military personnel at 6:50 a.m. on the Culiacán-Mazatlán highway, near El Trébol.

Ticante Castro had been released on July 2 from the Altiplano prison, where he was being held for crimes against health and for carrying a firearm for the exclusive use of the Army, after serving a sentence of 11 years and eight months in prison.

The release was granted to the drug lord by Judge Diana Montserrat Partido Arámbulo, who pointed out that the Phantom requested early release on March 12, which is a benefit that all persons serving a sentence have, and as the law states, he had already served 97.47 percent of the sentence imposed on him.

Ticante Castro was arrested on February 9, 2013 in the Costa Rica syndicate.

Alejandro Gertz Manero, head of Mexico's Attorney General's Office, assured that “it is proven” that Ismael el Mayo Zambada was kidnapped in Culiacán and that the United States allowed the entry of an aircraft with cloned license plates.

During President Claudia Sheinbaum's morning conference, which the Attorney General attended for the first time, he was questioned about the arrest of the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.

He specified that after being kidnapped in Culiacán, “he arrived by plane to a border city in the United States”, and added that, “the entry of any plane and any person are regulated by North American Law and the vehicle has to be identified, which in this case is the plane”.

Gertz Manero added that the license plate of the plane in which Zambada was transported was cloned.

“The pilot has to be fundamentally identified, because no pilot, no aircraft, can enter a U.S. border airport if it does not meet a series of requirements, these requirements are mandatory for everyone, that is what we are asking for,” he added.

“I Didn't Know He Was A Drug Trafficker": Lucero Sanchez Presents Her Book ‘La Chapo Diputada’.

This article was translated from LOS NOTICIERISTAS

07/24/2024

Culiacán, Sinaloa - A man with “many changing personalities” is how Lucero Guadalupe Sánchez López described Joaquin Guzmán Loera in her new book “La Chapo Diputada” mi historia con el señor de la montaña", finally presented to the public by the author herself on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

It is a 408-page book in which Sánchez López, a former state deputy in Sinaloa, recounts her origins, her early life, her youth and how she met the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, who is currently serving a life sentence in the maximum security prison ADX Florence, Colorado.

Some of the words given by the native of the municipality of Cosalá, Sinaloa, to the media who attended the conference and who also interviewed her off-camera, revealed that when she first met Guzmán Loera, she did not know he was a drug trafficker but a cattle rancher who was very well regarded by all the people.

“He had many changing personalities. They said he was a cattle rancher, I said that everyone saw him as a good man, but as time went by I discovered that he was a drug trafficker,” she said in an interview with Telemundo.

One of the questions the journalist asked Lucero was if she considers that Joaquin Guzman is still in charge of the Sinaloa cartel, to which she answered:

“I don't think so, I feel that he is already far away from that and maybe there he can find a little bit of peace, because he is a great believer of god”.

After serving her sentence in 2020, the former deputy of Sinaloa wrote a book of her biography where she talks about her first love, how she met and began a 'strange' and dangerous relationship with “El Chapo”, confrontations in the mountains and operations. She also narrates her time as a businesswoman, her transition from beauty queen of Cosalá to local congresswoman, the death of her sister Carolina, the capture of Guzmán Loera in the Miramar condominiums in Mazatlán, the days on the run, the last recapture and her visits to Altiplano to see him.

The book went on sale on July 14, 2024, although it is only available in the United States and Mexico. The 405-page book is so far only available on Amazon and is priced at US $34.99, about $630.00 pesos

Phil Jordan: Chapo funded EPN's Campaign

El Chapo contributed money to the campaign of Enrique Peña Nieto in order to become a candidate for the presidency, a former director of intelligence for the DEA revealed.

Phil Jordan said that something bad happened between the PRI and El Chapo because of his capture.  He says that it was a triumph for Mexico, that the president allowed the apprehension of El Chapo.

El Chapo Guzman contributed financial resources to Peña Nieto’s campaign, denounced Phil Jordan, former director of intelligence for the DEA in El Paso, Texas.

“Something bad happened between the PRI and the narco,” he said when being interviewed on a special segment on Univision.

The interviewer asked him: What evidence is there to confirm that El Chapo supported the campaign of Peña Nieto?

“That is documented in past campaigns of the PRI. El Chapo, Caro (Quintero), everyone gave money to whoever was running for president.  I don’t have the papers but there are intelligence reports indicating that the cartel of El Chapo is very involved in politics.”

Wouldn’t it be contradictory that the government of Peña Nieto was the one who captured El Chapo but he received money from him?

“Something bad happened between the PRI and El Chapo Guzmán.  What I can’t tell you now, because I don’t know why they arrested him, when he was paying millions of dollars to not arrest him, like how he paid millions of dollars to let him out the previous time.  He has all the money in the world.”

Jordan said that the relationship between the narcos and Mexican politicians is well known; the ones they need to operate and create their empires.

The interviewer then asks: If Chapo talked about his ties with Mexican politicians, would we have a big surprise in the political landscape of this country?

“There won’t be any surprises because the PRI and Chapo know very well that he was well involved in politics with money,” he replied.

Another question asked was that if Chapo also bribed officials from the United States.  Jordan replies:

“With the money that El Chapo has anything is possible.  Corruption just doesn’t occur in Mexico, it also occurs in the U.S.”

He warned that the jail that El Chapo ends up in, he can also run his business.

He didn’t rule out, however, that El Chapo negotiated his capture.
He stated that with Mexican narcos, there shouldn’t be more than one king, and with Caro Quintero free, he may be the new king.

Here’s a conversation that’s been circulating social media. It’s an excerpt from Rafael Loret de Mola’s book: Nuestro Inframundo: Los 7 Infiernos De Mexico released on January 1st, 2010.  It’s a book written by a journalist who after 32 books, no one can deny it.  Rafael Loret has won many awards including: Medalla Libertad de Expresión, Premio Jesús Romero Flores, El Chimalli de Oro, El Azteca de Oro, and Premio Quetzal.

-“Governor is that you?”

-“Yes, who’s calling?”

-“Take note governor.  I’m Joaquín Guzmán Loera.  Does the name ring a bell?  I know that you protected the hitmen of Arturo Beltrán.”

-“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” said Peña Nieto.

-“From this moment on, I’m going to reserve your life for myself.  You will never reach the presidency.”

Loret notes that on the day of his wedding with Angélica Rivera, on November 27, 2010, Peña Nieto seemed very anxious.
