Luis Alfonso López Reátiga, alias Toner, one of the alleged security chiefs of Los Chapitos, was arrested last Wednesday, February 26, when he was hospitalized in a private clinic in this city of Culiacán.

According to the data, the arrest took place shortly before 9:00 p.m., in the facilities of the Médica de la Ciudad hospital, located on Álvaro Obregón Avenue.

During his arrest, Toner was wearing a hospital gown. The reasons for his hospitalization are unknown at this time, however, unofficial data indicate that he was injured during a confrontation with security forces.

According to the National Registry of Arrests (RND), the arrest was carried out by agents of the Federal Ministerial Police.

It also states that López Reátiga is in the Aguaruto Penitentiary Center.

Despite rumors in news media regarding Luis Alfonso Lopez Reatiga, known as "El Toner," being appointed as one of the security chiefs of the Los Chapitos criminal group, we can confirm that this is far from true. El Toner was never in the position of security chief for Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, leaders of La Chapiza or the Los Chapos Cartel. Instead, El Toner was part of the inner circle of Juancho or El Gavilan, a high-ranking member of the La Chapiza Cartel who has held various leadership roles in the city of Culiacan. El Toner was among several dangerous criminals who escaped from the Aguaruto Penitentiary during the first Culiacanazo on October 17, 2019, when Ovidio Guzman Lopez was freed after threats were made to kidnap military family members stationed in Sinaloa. I do not wish to downplay the capture of El Toner or contradict other news media outlets.

Culiacán, Sin.- Apart from the important capture of José Ángel Canobbio, alias “El Güerito,” federal forces arrested this Wednesday, February 19, Kevin Alonso Gil Acosta, nicknamed “El 200,” who is also a key piece in the organization of the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to the information, the alleged criminal was arrested by elements of the National Guard in coordination with the Army at nightfall yesterday Wednesday in Culiacancito

At the time of his arrest he was wearing a green shirt, a navy blue jacket, jeans and white tennis shoes.

Who is “El 200”?

Kevin Alonso Gil Acosta, alias “El 200”, is 34 years old and is known to be the head of security in the “Los Chapitos” faction, specifically under the orders of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán.

On a date like today, February 19, Mexican Army Day, but in 2014, Kevin Karim Elias Gil Acosta, alias “El 300,” was arrested in the Burócrata neighborhood in Culiacán, in possession of a long weapon, a fragmentation grenade, 11 handguns, 35 magazines of different calibers, 17 communication devices, four vehicles and drugs hidden in vegetables (plastic bananas and cucumbers), the federal government reported in a statement at the time. It is unknown when and why he was released.

Kevin alias “El 200” and his brother “El 300” are attributed with the kidnapping and murder of Hugo Castellanos Jimenez, a beauty pageant judge killed in 2016 in Culiacán, when Melissa Carolina Lizárraga, the “underdog,” won the Miss World Sinaloa pageant.

He did not fall alone

It was reported that, along with him, there are two other detainees, which are: Gustavo Acosta López, 56 years old, and José Alonso Acosta López, whose age was not disclosed. Both are relatives of “El 200”, José Alonso is his uncle.

The three were transferred under a strong security device to the Military Air Base at the Culiacán International Airport.

The Capture of Kevin Alonso Gil Acosta, alias "El 200" or "El Cabo," is a blow to the criminal organization of Los Chapitos, Los Menores, or La Chapiza, led by Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, sons of JGL. El 200 was Ivan Archivaldo's voice in Culiacan and swiftly carried out his orders. El 200 is believed to have led the attacks including making threats on families of military members on the first Culiacanazo on orders of Ivan Archivaldo, leading to Ovidio Guzman Lopez being freed after being captured. Ivan and Alfredo have lost two key trusted operators in one week. The government has warned that raids will continue against criminal groups in Sinaloa until violence reduces between rival criminal groups.

Breaking news emerged out of Culiacan, Sinaloa, on Monday, January 6, 2025, of the possible death of the famous high-ranking La Chapiza Cartel member El Gavilan or Juancho. El Gavilan has long controlled the Desarollo Urbano Tres Rios Sector in Culiacan, Sinaloa, and is said to be under the direct orders of El Cabo or El 200 and El 300. 

The incident where El Gavilan or Juancho allegedly suffered from gunshot wounds happened in the low-income apartments of Fovissste Diamante. A video of about 40 seconds shows a group of armed gunmen with long rifles rescuing someone who was lying on the floor allegedly is El Gavilan. Furthermore,  it is unknown how this ambush occurred at this moment, or if it was mistaken friendly gunfire.

While various Comandantes of La Chapiza are active in the current war, a name that stands out is El Gavilan because of his active role in the war against the Mayo Flaco organization for the Culiacan plaza.

El Gavilan was described by a source as a six-foot-tall person, with white skin, and sometimes sporting a ponytail. Surely, if one looks at the picture of El Gavilan, the description by the source fits the picture that was shared.
