“I Didn't Know He Was A Drug Trafficker": Lucero Sanchez Presents Her Book ‘La Chapo Diputada’.

Culiacán, Sinaloa - A man with “many changing personalities” is how Lucero Guadalupe Sánchez López described Joaquin Guzmán Loera in her new book “La Chapo Diputada” mi historia con el señor de la montaña", finally presented to the public by the author herself on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

It is a 408-page book in which Sánchez López, a former state deputy in Sinaloa, recounts her origins, her early life, her youth and how she met the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, who is currently serving a life sentence in the maximum security prison ADX Florence, Colorado.

Some of the words given by the native of the municipality of Cosalá, Sinaloa, to the media who attended the conference and who also interviewed her off-camera, revealed that when she first met Guzmán Loera, she did not know he was a drug trafficker but a cattle rancher who was very well regarded by all the people.

“He had many changing personalities. They said he was a cattle rancher, I said that everyone saw him as a good man, but as time went by I discovered that he was a drug trafficker,” she said in an interview with Telemundo.

One of the questions the journalist asked Lucero was if she considers that Joaquin Guzman is still in charge of the Sinaloa cartel, to which she answered:

“I don't think so, I feel that he is already far away from that and maybe there he can find a little bit of peace, because he is a great believer of god”.

After serving her sentence in 2020, the former deputy of Sinaloa wrote a book of her biography where she talks about her first love, how she met and began a 'strange' and dangerous relationship with “El Chapo”, confrontations in the mountains and operations. She also narrates her time as a businesswoman, her transition from beauty queen of Cosalá to local congresswoman, the death of her sister Carolina, the capture of Guzmán Loera in the Miramar condominiums in Mazatlán, the days on the run, the last recapture and her visits to Altiplano to see him.

The book went on sale on July 14, 2024, although it is only available in the United States and Mexico. The 405-page book is so far only available on Amazon and is priced at US $34.99, about $630.00 pesos

Marcelino Ticante Castro "El Fantasma" Fomer Security Chief Of "El Chapo Guzman" Set Free

 "Char" for Borderland Beat

This article was translated and reposted from RIODOCE

July 23, 2024

Marcelino Ticante Castro, El Fantasma, the alleged former security chief of Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, was released from the Altiplano prison on July 2.

Luis Rodríguez Bucio, Undersecretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), announced on Tuesday that El Fantasma, who was arrested on February 9, 2013 in the Costa Rica syndicate, municipality of Culiacán, was being held for crimes against health and carrying firearms exclusive to the Army, but a judge granted him the benefit of early release.

“The reason for his release is early release for crimes against health and carrying firearms, he was notified of his release on Friday, June 28, he was given 24 hours for his release and was released on Tuesday, July 2, 24”, said the official.

He noted that Diana Montserrat Partida Arambulo, sixth judge of the Specialized District for the Execution of Sentences in Mexico City, was the one who granted him the benefit.

Rodríguez Bucio pointed out that the freedoms granted to el Fantasma and 191 other inmates detained for federal crimes, including a brother and two brothers-in-law of El Mencho, have been granted from 2018 to 2024 on weekends, when it is more difficult to prevent them from being released, given the difficulty of quickly locating investigation files that are open against them in state prosecutors' offices.

Another son of "Los Lorenzana" family captured linked to El Chapo in Guatemala

Borderland Beat

GUATEMALA. - on Tuesday The Guatemala security forces captured Waldemar Lorenzana Cordón, son of Waldemar Lorenzana Lima, alias "El Patriarca,"  alleged leader of a local cartel operating in the east of the country and is considered an ally of the Mexican Sinaloa cartel.

Guatemalan Interior Minister, Mauricio López Bonilla, told reporters that Lorenzana Cordón was arrested during a raid by agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) on a highway east of the country, in the Zacapa section.

Bonilla Lopez said, "He was arrested based on an extradition warrant issued by a criminal court judge at the request of a court of the United States for drug trafficking."

Lorenzana Cordon has remained a fugitive since April 2011 when his father, Lorenzana Lima, was arrested. Upon detecting the presence of security when his extradition to the United States was approved in July, he fled.
The cartel of  "Los Lorenzana" is the name the local media refers to the family of narco traffickers. Guatemalan officials, Los Lorenzana have been in drug trafficking for more than 30 years and during the last decade became partners Mexico's Sinaloa cartel, which is led by the fugitive Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Lorezana Lima, alias "El Patriarca," was arrested in April 2011 in a village in eastern Guatemala and in August 2012 a criminal court authorized his extradition to Columbia (by the USA), which was ratified on July 12 for an Appeals Chamber.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency accuses Los Lorenzana of  bringing "thousands of tons of cocaine" to the U.S. since the seventies.

According to the indictment, members of the family stored and distributed the drugs from Colombia and El Salvador, and transferred them to the United States through Mexico.

Other children
In November last year, the U.S. Treasury Department designated Marta Julia Lorenzana Cordøn, daughter of "El Patriarca" and sister of Waldemar Lorenzana Cordón. She is subject to sanctions for being part of "one of the major crime families Central America."

Guatemalan Justice authorized last February the extradited to the United States of Elio Lorenzana Cordon, another son of "El Patriarch," on charges of drug trafficking, conspiracy and money laundering.

Chapo's "Daughter"? Maybe Not So Much...

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat

A woman was arrested on Friday the 12th of October at 3:27 at the US POE in San Diego, California.  She would later “confessed” as being the daughter of Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzman.

The woman was subjected to biometric electronic identification system that compares the irises and fingerprints with a national database of the Homeland Security Department (HSD). The system "linked the defendant with a history in the immigration service," reportedly said an agent in court.

In other words, she failed in an attempt to enter the US on a prior occasion or was successful and was deported, hence her record with HSD.

Alejandrina Gisselle  Guzmán Salazar, 31 appeared in federal court this past Monday to face charges of impersonating another person by submitting a false document.
Debra Hartman federal prosecution spokeswoman did not confirm that the woman is the Chapo daughter and asks in an email to the media that they ignore the relationship aspect. The spokeswoman confirmed that Guzman Salazar was arrested by immigration and customs agents on Friday at the San Ysidro pedestrian checkpoint while trying to enter the United States with a false passport.
As the story broke everyone in the media including blogs and including our own Borderland Beat armchair sleuths, tried in vain to retrieve information of this self-described daughter of Chapo Guzman, the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.

First reports stated that the DEA had confirmed the arrested woman was Chapos daughter.  However in a  DEA website search for all press releases of events occurring in San Diego in the year of 2012 comes up empty with any statement about this immigration case.  Same goes for DOJ, FBI and ICE websites.   Nothing has been substantiated officially by any United States Agency.

Press releases of the DEA San Diego news for 2012
Another manipulated report was that the second wife of Chapo made reference in an interview.  The interview is one that will be posted on BB over the weekend.  The original interview has been edited, as the original report did not have the reference to the "daughter" named Alejandrina, nor does it have the added text in quotation marks.  Animal Politico and Zocalo reprinted the interview and their reprint which is a duplicate of the original report had no reference to this unknown daughter.

Photos began appearing of the arrested daughter of Chapo, and one by one they have been proven to be not this new daughter of Chapo but a photograph of another.  The first photo used was not of a 31 year old daughter but of his younger daughter of his second wife Griselda.  Next was the photo of his first Maria, and yet another photo posted of a young woman who is unrelated to the Guzman family.
Since the arrested woman has a name  similar to Chapo’s first wife Maria Alejandrina Salazar Hernandez, now 54 years of age,  it was assumed that she most likely was Maria’s daughter.  The problem with that is Maria and Chapo are only known to have three children, all sons; Cesar, Ivan and Jesus.  Chapo and Maria married in 1977, surmising that a 31 year old child of Chapo’s born in wedlock would be of that union.

Some reputable news agencies initially reported Alejandrina as being a daughter of the first marriage of Chapo.  One is hard pressed to think of a reason a daughter from Chapos first marriage would be hidden for 31 years.  It is illogical.
Chapos second wife is Griselda Lopez Perez current age 53.  They were married in mid 80s and produced four children; Ovidio, Joaquin, Griselda Guadalupe and Edgar.  Edgar was killed in May 2008.
In  2007 Chapo was married a third time to 18 year old Emma Coronel, niece of Ignacio “Nacho” Coronel, a one-time partner of Guzman who was killed in July 2010 in a shootout with the Mexican army.
Emma, an American citizen gave birth to twin daughters in the summer of 2011, in Lancaster California.
So where does this previously unknown daughter of Chapo fit in?  One can think perhaps she is a daughter born from an affair and that is possible, however the name is so similar to Chapo’s first wife logic says if anyone Maria is the mother. However, If she was the product of an out of wedlock liaison , why quickly declare she is Chapo’s daughter?

And why did she have such a problem attaining a visa in the first place?  That is not clear.  She is a doctor with no criminal history; Chapo’s other children that have records clean of criminal activity freely travel the world including the US.  So why not this medical doctor?
SEIDO Chief Cuitlahuac Martinez says US has not confirmed the womans identity
I know about as much history of Chapo as anyone interested in the subject, nowhere has the name Alejandrina Gisselle  Guzmán Salazar been reported as having a connection to Chapo.
Before the twins were born these names have been published as the children of Chapo:
César, Iván Archivaldo, Jesús Alfredo, Édgar, Joaquín, Ovidio and Griselda Guadalupe
Never before has a Alejandrina been included as a child of Chapo.  Perhaps there is an explanation, but as days pass and the representing attorney of the woman, in addition to the US authorities not confirming that she is in fact Chapo’s daughter, and Siedo (PGR) stating yesterday the US has not confirmed to them  that she is Chapo’s daughter, until and when that occurs  we should all take this story with a big grain of salt.  I assume any word of confirmation will be made public after her bond hearing.  If she is Chapos daughter, clearly, there is a best seller in her enigmatic history.

Meanwhile in all probability her son will be born a US citizen.

Just as she wanted all along.
