Los Mayos Sinaloa Cartel Operatives Arrested After Raids in Chiapas

By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat

Security forces arrested two alleged operators of the Sinaloa Cartel Los Mayos faction after a series of raids in the border region of Chiapas on Friday.

On Friday, five properties across Tuxtla Chico, Metapa and Frontera Hidalgo were raided by the Mexican Navy, the SSPC, and the FGR. Notably absent from the operations were local police. While the operation was targeting Horacio de la Cruz Mazariegos, “El Botanas,”a leader of the “Los Mayos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, Mazariegos was not captured as some news media have published.

Security forced seized two properties, 2.8 million pesos, seven firearms, 109 rounds of ammunition, 19 magazines, six cell phones, two tactical vests, and two vehicles, including an armored truck, as well as various documents and electronic equipment.

Authorities arrested Carmen Yadira Rodas Mateo and Felipe de Jesús Rascón Peralta, accused of being part of El Botanas' criminal cell.

Horacio de la Cruz Mazariegos, a key figure overseeing drug trafficking in the region, has been a target of the Mexican government for years. In 2025, newspaper Reforma published a report showing that Mazariegos received around 20 contracts from the government of Chiapas through Construccionesy Diseños la Cruz Galegos S.A. de C.V., a construction firm owned by Mazariegos.

  1. The government needs to get rid of CJNG and both sides of the Sinaloa cartel, It’s time for new leadership to come into their states and territories. We need the dominant cartels to be CAF- Independent cartel of Sonora - CDG scorpions-LFM- CDN as the only cartels

  3. I guess Chiapas is a good plaza more important than even Michoacán or Guerrero .. I remember back in mid 90s my uncles who were Judiciales working in Juárez and they had a trucking business that would haul used cars bought in El Paso all the way down to Chiapas, and would bring back a bunch of used tires. Seriously tires 🤔.. took me a while to figure out it wasn’t just tires .. but my point is that even back then Chiapas was a crucial part of a trafficking route and yet it isn’t talked about much in corridos just like the Yucatán peninsula unlike all the other dumbasses from other states including my own who boast about the narco lifestyle
