Eight prisoners have been recaptured almost 5 years after the mass escape of prisoners was recorded in the Aguaruto penitentiary during the "Culiacanazo" in 2019.

Just a couple of days ago, the eighth fugitive of a total of 51 prisoners who escaped from prison on October 17, 2019, during the failed operation to capture Ovidio Guzmán López, son of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, in the Tres Ríos Urban Development.

The first two fugitives to be recaptured were arrested in the afternoon of the same day of the "Culiacanazo" without their identities being made known.

This is how they have been recaptured
The next to be arrested was Cristian Eduardo G, in a home in the Infonavit Playas subdivision in the port of Mazatlán on December 31, 2019.

On October 11, 2020, Geovany Jonathan was arrested without details about his arrest being released.

In November 2022, another of the fugitives was arrested by police officers who were providing security at the Livestock Fair.

During the search, the fugitive provided a false name, but ultimately his true identity came to light, which is why he was detained.

On November 24, 2022, José alias "El Shefo" was arrested while he was traveling in a van in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora.

Jairo de Jesús was recaptured in March of this year 2024 by preventive agents in a shopping plaza in the San Isidro subdivision south of Culiacán.

Police surprised him when he was allegedly consuming drugs and intercepted him for administrative offenses when his identity and the current arrest warrant came to light.

In April of this year, 2024, Óscar Geovany was arrested, whose re-arrest was announced by personnel from the Ministry of Public Security through a press release without the details of his arrest being made known.

There were 39
39 of the inmates who escaped from the prison on the day of "Culiacanazo" were imprisoned for federal crimes for collecting weapons for the exclusive use of the Army and possession of cartridges, and the rest for common law crimes, mainly theft.

The re-apprehended fugitives have had the crime of evasion added to their legal process.

On the same day of the events, two inmates who managed to leave the prison returned to the Carrara on their own and two more were detained outside the prison, while the rest remained unlocated.

  1. The rest of the 39 eventually made their way to U.S by way of Bidens open boarder policy and are now living in one of the many sanctuary cities like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Portland or San Francisco.

    12. 812. Good thing you're not the president of Mexico because you're an idiot. The world is not black and white like you see it. For beginners, Mexico does not have the same history with Ecuador as Isreal does with the rest of the Middle East. The intrusion of the Mexican embassy did not result in deaths of top officials as it did in the bombing of Iran's embassy in Syria p3ndejo. Lastly, Ecuador and Mexico do not need to go to war, the problem will be resolved through sanctions by the Latin American community as 30 out of 32 nations already condemned Ecuadors actions as a violation of international law. Ecuador is under major scrutiny.

    13. @ both 902s. There's a difference between customs and border patrol. Try entering legally and you'll get turned away by customs. Enter illegally and border patrol will catch and release you on the U.S side.
