Chihuahua Police search for El 80

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Proceso article

Subject Matter: Carlos Arturo Quintana, El 80
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

Reporter: Proceso Redaction
After the kidnapping of Cipriano Escarcega, Director of Civil Protection of Carichi, on the morning of this Tuesday, State Police and elements of the Army mounted an operation in the Zona Occidente of this Municipality.

The State Commission for Public Security, Oscar Aparicio Avendano, informed that the captors of Escarcega, father of Julio Cesar Escarcega Aranda, leader of the criminal group El Tigre, from La Linea in Cuauhtemoc - burned his house and his vehicles.

Also, said the Commissioner, they killed a civilian identified as Cesar Alan Marquez Macias and injured a Municipal agent.

Aparicio Avendano anticipated that tomorrow they will fly to Carichi, where Carlos Arturo Quintana, El 80, controls the North West zone. Quintana was the one who allegedly with his sicarios kidnapped Escarcega.

He indicated that whenever there is an attack, the response of the counterpart is expected, especially in this case, because they took the father of El Tigre.

The State Attorney Generals Office already has advanced lines of investigation and is determining which cartel carried out the attack, in a bid to avoid further clashes between the protagonists.

He added, " as some local cartels are weakened, other groups try to enter their territories that were not effectively controlled, which causes the clashes with rival groups.

According to Aparicio Avendano the operation was scheduled for San Juanito, in the municipality of Bocoyna, where the previous weekend registered a confrontation. The operation was not carried out due to a helicopter requiring repairs.

Escarcega Aranda, whose nickname is El 109, is jefe of Los Tigres cartel, a splinter group from La Linea, since last March, after the execution of Cesar Gamboas "El Cabo" was executed and today controls Cuauhtemoc.

The recent confrontation on Tuesday was between the groups of El 80 and El Tigre. In addition to the kidnapping mentioned, there were four other kidnappings, neighbours said that alleged followers of El 80 arrived in a caravan of 10 vehicles and entered two houses and took the inhabitants.

In an interview with local media, the Attorney General, Cesar Augusto Peniche Espejel confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the armed confrontation was between people of El 80 and El Tigre.

Before, he said, these criminal groups did whatever they wanted, but now they no longer have the alleged support of the authorities and a strong rearrangement is taking place. "We have to exercise the power of authority and we will gradually recover their lost capacities."

He also insisted that they are on the right path because they can not make agreements with criminals.

  3. So every little splinter group is now a separate cartel? I always thought that a cartel was a group of organizations.

    1. Yes it’s laughable isn’t it 5:34. Why is the equivalent in the US called a gang, but in Mexico a gangbanger that controls a few blocks is a cartel. A can guarantee the gangbanger in America controlling similar size geography is making hella lot more dough - but yet 80 is a Cartel leader. In Mexico the people know the definition of a cartel and they call these parasites “criminales”.

      Delete
    2. Gangs don't control law enforcement or send drugs across country boundaries and state lines. Gangs also tag walls and don't pay all their idiot members regardless if they die for the group. Cartels have international connections and make way more money than a block level dealer. Capos like 80 are also feared by enemies as well as respected by friends and allies. Nobody but perhaps their mom respects gangbangers.
These reasons are just the tip of the iceberg aside from people like el 80 controlling legions of henchmen ready to die at his call while ganbangers might only control a handful of punks that are only good to spray graffiti on walls and perhaps committ a beer run here or there to earn "street" credit.

      Delete
    3. La Linea is a splinter group. Yet it is kicking CDS (the biggest cartel in Mexico), ass in Chihuahua no matter how "little" it is. This comming from el 80 that allegedly controls a few city blocks by your arguments here. There is your "street" gang!

      Delete
  4. The Peniche can't make arrangements because they come arranged,
is this attorney general of the state of chihuahua family with the carlos cabal peniche banker that went bankrupt, stole all the money and escaped to new zealand, then came back for more federal contracts with the mexican government, I think they came from yucatan to el DF and now in chihuahua is real suspicious, when there are chilangos in the soup they are usually what is wrong with the soup.
The peniche are heavy in televisa and "third rate no class" movies, I guess being state's attorney makes more money with the extra perks...

  5. Then people wonder why CDS is so strong on Chihuahua. NOBODY goes aprehends their capos in Sinaloa allowing them to control criminal cells in Chihuahua from the security of their home state. Not that it matters for even the DEA that a capture of a guy like this 80 is possibly going to cause more bloodshed in Chihuahua as long as Sinaloa is peaceful while Zambada and Chapos kids reign free!

    1. Yea, sinaloa is a heaven for beltranes and cds. It's rare to hear about people getting captured in that state

      Delete
    2. sinaloa is "peaceful" because it has no valuable ports or borders crossings in to the u.s, in other words its peaceful because the ONLY people that want it are the culos from sinaloa itself. Now look at Chiwas, it has the most valuable boarder crossing in all of Mexico, that's why any smart dto leader wants it, now even the cjng also want it, even though they controle the most valuable port in Mexico, if rumors are to be believed

      Delete
    3. 7 :56 actually the biggest and busiest border is in tijuana

      Delete
    4. 7:56 Sinaloa is part of the golden triangle you would be stupid to not have a piece of it

      Delete
    5. 7:56; you are very misinformed. Sinaloa has the infrastructure on every level to support the largest drug logistics in the world, like NYC has infrastructure to compliment financial services. In Sinaloa we have thousands of kilómetros of unpopulated beaches as well as over 1,000 airstrips throughout la Sierra from south near Nayarit to El Fuerte. With carretera 15 we can send to 5 major land crossings and from sierra you can send loads through Juarez, Nuevo Laredo and thousands of miles of desert in between. We also supply the incompetent zeta and golfo factions. Chiwas is not near as valuable b/c you have one good frontera plaza and with the hundreds of miles of desert you can move small loads, but these type of loads the Sinaloans don’t even think about. If it’s not metric ton it doesn’t justify the work involved for a Sinaloan logistics manager. Please catch up with the game before you make irrelevant comments.

      Delete
    6. @9:52 blah blah blah. If Sinaloa is so bad ass then why are they fighting and loosing their turf over Juarez?

      Delete
    7. 7:56 San Diego has one big border crossing which consists of 22 Lanes. El paso area consists of 5 border crossings. so the El Paso area is much bigger than the san ysidro area

  6. CDS is taking Chihuahua,
Juarez is desperate to do damage

    ReplyDelete

    1. Juarez is damaging CDS. Would not be surprised that Chihuahua governor Javier Corall and el 80s biggest outspoken opponent is under CDS payroll.
Either way La Linea because of Aztecas also is far from gone. If el 80 is captured another will take his place.

      Delete
    2. That's not gonna happen kid. The sinaloa culos and their novios from durango and sonora couldn't take Chiwas with the help of the Mexican military (around 10,0000 soldiers if I remember correctly) and help from the Mexican and u.s fed governments. Puro Chihuahua!

      Delete
    3. Says who? This crap goes in cycles. CDS is making a push now but when haven't they made pushes into Chihuahua since 2004. If CJNG is getting into the mix to assist La Linea things could get even more deadlier for everyone. I say get it done. FTW!!

      Delete
    4. It's different this time. Before the war was just starting, everyone was well funded, but after so many years many groups haven't been bringing the funds needed fight

      Delete
    5. La linea split from juarez cartel and gente nueva split from cds and got together to form a cartel

      Delete
    6. La Linea is Juarez cartel reborn. GN just kisses ass to Chapos because they can't hack it on their own.

      Delete
    7. Well Cuatemoc was always a strong hold for La Linea. Yet also never really got along with the Aztecas or everyone from Juanito's. Strong enough to when their leader got killed they went independent as Cartel del Tigre Cabo and Tigre are the same person. Who is already dead. Was know in la líneas under ground as Cabo and Tigre with his GN connects. I believe the reason Cabo was killed was because he GN ties that his old friend 80 told him to part ways with. He didn't so they killed him. That's why they put (gente del tigre) because it's his people, they stayed loyal to Cabo's bro . His brother is also in the organization ,so Cabo's brother from what I know reached out to GN and made an agreement enough for them to start rasing the GN flag. Cuatemocs Linea bosses were very influential on a nice amount on town around it and in la sierra. Cuatemoc was like a little Culiacán of the sierra. A lot of mid-high heavy hitters. I wonder if more old Linea bosses are helping out Tigre's people that's why they have been able to sneak up in them like in Madera. That was Madera bosses telling 80s people that they were no longer welcomed there. Linea is about to go to war with itself.

Sinaloa is fixing their internal issues quite nicely. And if GN is no longer with CDS sounds like CDS is getting rid of the dead weight, the war is over, no need for extra soldiers. CDS has way to much money ,political power and Hollywood fame to go down anytime soon. They control so much still and have reduced their presence. Because they buy out the local government. Sinaloa is stable. Piss of the big bosses of Sinaloa have a bigger chance getting caught by the police.

CJNG is trying to smash out all the weaked cartels and replace them , FM, CT, Zetas. And CJNG are aggressive af. Everyone does. And their power won't go down until EPN is out of office. And depending on who replaces EPN.
      Bongggg

    8. La linea may or may not fight itself. If this guy 80 is captured infighting will be a given. Nobody would care about the bloodshed in Chihuas though. Fuckin stupid Chihuahuenses fighting each other is exactly what the U.S. government and CDS among other cartels want however and they are falling right into their trap.

      Delete
    9. 1:10 this incursion into Chihuas by CDS is different my friend but the difference is CDS is not invading with thousands of sicarios like in 2004. Chapo came hard and fast back then. CDS learned that this type of take over is not sprint, its more of a marathon. This time around CDS is approaching Chihuas with more caution because they learned their lesson from losing the last war with Juarez. And yes CDS did lose the war no matter what anyone says because Juarez was left for dead by all drug enforcement agencies. Then slowly but surely Juarez was reborn and took almost all of its turf back. Until CDS can get their shit together they will never have a chance to be what it once was.

Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich.
