Oaxaca: 6 People Executed In 48 Hours Including 4 Political Leaders

Translated by Valor for Borderland Beat

Oaxaca, Oaxaca April 2, 2016— During the past 48 hours, there have been six people executed, including four political leaders, just hours after starting off gubernatorial campaigns in the state of Oaxaca.

The State Attorney of Oaxaca reported that the deceased were reported as members of the PRD party (Party of the Democratic Revolution) and MORENA, José María Caña Antonio and Enrique Quiroz Quiroz, respectively, as well as taxi leaders Carlos Alberto Luis López and Ezquiel Cruz Castillo, and an alleged undocumented trafficker, Manuel Fuentes Matus, and an undocumented immigrant.

The victims were killed in the municipalities of Oaxaca, El Istmo, La Cuenca de Papaloapan, and the municipality of San Andrés Huaxpaltepec, a coastal region, a few hours after starting the electoral process for the election of the governor of the state.

It’s worth mentioning that in January, another MORENA member, Marcos Hernández, was executed in the same municipality as Quiroz Quiroz, in which the general secretary of the state committee party, Sesul Bolaños, demanded that the state government clarify the facts.

    2. They rarely target judges because they pose no threat to most narcotraficantes. In Mexico, 8 out of 100 crimes committed are reported and 1% are investigated. Why kill judges when you never see them?

  6. OK, WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO.
11.5 MILLION documents from "PANAMA PAPERS" where the rich have been hiding a lot of money stolen and made from drug trafficking by politicians and "rogue agents" but Vladimir Putin is about the most mentioned, as if drug addiction and trafficking were any business of us on mexico or the US...

    2. @8:11. I am working on a story on the Panama Papers which I hope to finish tonight. I have read the reports you are referring to about the entire 11 1/2 million docs being released in May. But ICIJ director Ryle says that the media organizations have no plans to release the full dataset, WikiLeaks-style, which he argues would expose the sensitive information of innocent private individuals along with the public figures on which the group’s reporting has focused. “We’re not WikiLeaks. We’re trying to show that journalism can be done responsibly,”

I have also read that there are still 100 investigative journalist going through all the material and that it would take many months, maybe years to go through all of it. They want to focus on "public figures" and not do anything that will injure or invade the privacy of innocent people.

My guess is that the May release date is talking about releasing what they turned up so far about public figures and there will be future releases on a periodic basis as more relevant material is discovered.

    6. Who finances the "independent cartel of investigative reporters"?
--find them out, Then you will know who will get outed and who won't, there is a lot of money there, MossackFonseca says they incorporate about 20 000 corporations a year, it will be a while to check'em all up.

  7. I wonder how much money Mexico truly wastes on investigating cartel murders and activity? It's not like the Mexican government is going to do something about the issue if they find out who is guilty for the crimes. So why bother sending guys in white suites out to comb the scene of a crime that will not be properly solved? Just a question.

  8. And as I read the article I suddenly came to the realization that the criminals of Oaxaca were avid readers of that one best selling children's book. Everything I Like To Do Is Illegal. - El Sol Perdido

  11. Gringo ex-pats in Oaxaca say this is false news reporting, so it must be false. They say Oaxaca is a safe state and they've never been a victim of a crime. The victims are all criminals, say the gringos in Oaxaca.

  12. I was just there in January, we were driving south ,near the municipality of San Andrés Huaxpaltepec, when we hit a political roadblock around 10 A.M. they said that it would not open until about 5 P.M. so we backtracked through Santa Maria then south along the coast on dirt roads. Major agriculture region: papaya lime Ect From what I understand is that there is a lot of Foreign investment in the area ....I bet the roadblock at the time had something to do with this.
