La Vaca Arrest Updates: Transferred to Altiplano, He Was Not Living in CDMX & 4 Of His Hitmen Were Arrested

"HEARST" for Borderland Beat

The joint press release reveals that La Vaca was not living in Mexico City, but merely visiting. Then, the governor of Colima announced that four of La Vaca’s hitmen had been arrested.

And then, a major military and law enforcement operation, involving helicopters and 100 heavily armed guards, to transfer Vaca out of Mexico City to the infamous Altiplano prison involving helicopters and 100 heavily armed guards.

For the initial story covering his arrest from yesterday, please see the story linked here, and for background on who La Vaca is, his criminal history and his split with the CJNG, please see this previous story.

What We Know About How The Arrest Went Down

A whole host of law enforcement agencies (the Army, the National Guard, CNI-CENFI, Mexico City Security, and the state Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City) released a joint statement which gave new details about how the arrest occurred. They write:

“Army [SEDENA] and National Guard personnel coordinated with local authorities in Mexico City to locate José Bernabé N, who was known to be temporarily within the capital city.”

What's important to note here is that they say that La Vaca was not living in Mexico City per and remotely giving out orders to his forces in the state of Colima. They allege he was just there for a visit or - a stay which federal military intelligence first picked up on.

They continue:

“As a result of this and the exchange of information between federal and Mexico City authorities, it was decided to form a joint force to carry out operational activities in the Anzures neighborhood of the Miguel Hidalgo borough, in order to limit his movements and reduce the possibility of violent action in the city.

José Bernabé N was located in the street and was arrested without firing a single shot.”

So, Vaca was captured in the Anzures neighborhood, which is in the north western region of Mexico City, in a borough called Miguel Hidalgo.

CDMXTravel described the Anzures neighborhood as “an oasis in the bustle of the city, Anzures is a refined residential neighborhood with a laid-back vibe. Young families and professionals inhabit contemporary apartment buildings and gated mid-20th-century mansions along quiet, tree-lined streets. Calle Leibnitz offers a diverse dining scene with its genteel cafes and international mix of restaurants.

Newspaper La Silla Rota writes that “The Polanco and Ánzures neighborhoods, which are close together, have become one of the favorite areas of drug trafficking groups that operate in Mexico City, like in the case of La Vaca, who was there before his arrest. In Polanco there is also an operational center of the Sinaloa Cartel, according to what La Prensa published this week.”

The statement goes on to say that Vaca was found to be in possession of 350 “doses” (likely small baggies) of cocaine and one firearm which was illegal for him to possess, something which Vaca can be charged for.

It also reveals that the arrest warrant that was issued by a judge was based on charges of homicide, stockpiling of weapons, possession of ammo, crimes against public servants (government personnel such as police officers) and charges of organized crime in the states of Colima, Tamaulipas and the State of Mexico.

It will be interesting to see what evidence prosecutors have on La Vaca’s organized crime activity in Tamaulipas and the State of Mexico, two states which are not nearly as associated with him as Colima is.

La Vaca’s arrest was briefly mentioned by both President Andres Lopez Obrador and the head of the Army, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, during the morning press conference but no new details were given that had not already been released.

The Aftermath Back in Colima

News source El Punto Informativo published the following photos showing the aftermath and destruction of Colima.

They also posted photos of the destruction done to Soriana Market in Colima.

Famed Colima journalist Oscar Adrián Luna gave further details on the narco blockades that happened in Colima, saying:

There were a total of 14 vehicles totally or partially set on fire last night at different points in the Colima-Villa de Álvarez metropolitan area, reports Civil Protection.

No injuries or deaths were reported from these events, only material damage.

On the morning of August 19, the governor of Colima Índira Vizcaíno announced that there are four men in custody who were detained for the violence seen after Vaca’s arrest.

Vaca is Transferred to Altiplano

At 5:30 pm on Friday, August 19, 2022, La Vaca’s transfer from Mexico City’s state Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to the prison that will temporarily house him began. It was determined by authorities that La Vaca would be sent to Mexico’s most well known, high-security prison Altiplano, located in the State of Mexico.

The transport operation was large-scale, requiring a large number of military personnel as well as some of the most well-armored transport vehicles available. The transfer operation was organized by soldiers from the Army (SEDENA), the National Guard and officers from Mexico City police.

Mural writes he was transferred inside aboard an armored vehicle known as "Rino". There were around 25 SSC units and more than 100 heavily armed elements guarding the transfer. Transfers such as these are heavily guarded due to fears about cartel members attacking the convoy while trying to free their leader or rival members trying to kill the detainee before he gets locked away.

At 7:08 pm, Vaca’s transport entered the premises of Altiplano prison, making the transfer operation roughly an hour and a half long.

  1. CJNG must have given information of his whereabouts to the government like they usually do on their enemies people who believe mencho is the boss are in for surprised because the real bosses are inside the political ring with out him paying top officials for protection he would be arrested just like in When he was in USA

    4. I see every possible scenario given except for the obvious. AMLO's government is doing their job. The confrontations and captures have never stopped since AMLO took office. There has been more extraditions under AMLO than the last 4 administrations combined. The whole "abrazos no balazos" was a slogan taken out of context by the same media corporations that were used to cover up the government corruption for the last 4 administrations. Them same media companies are not welcomed at the daily briefings because they are no longer needed. If you want to know what happed yesterday whats going on today or whats the plan for tomorrow, you can tune in to AMLO'S youtube channel and get the information straight from the horses mouth. I'm not making this up. Google it. Watch it. If you want facts, go to the source, not a media outlet with a particular agenda.

    6. 12:58 it is hard to defeat an enemy that is being supplied externally. They have an endless supply of weapons, and cash. By the other side, their weapons do not overcome the ones Federal Agencies own. But having civil population in between make it more complex than just killing them off. And past administrations had people jailed, but not necessarily the ones that count... They just gave some legitimacy to their links with cartels. So, not sure if what you are pointing is near reality. And the "abrazos no balazos" is not an official slogan or a policy, was just an answer during a press conference, referring that hes not very into violence, but in the practice is the opposite.

    7. "Abrazos no balazos" is a slogan taken out of context at every chance possible by the ignorant or AMLO's opposition. It was a slogan meant for disadvantaged youth who's options are limited to immigration, exploitation by cartels, low wage paying foreign investors or grimey chilangos like Peña Nieto and the politcal class. It is a slogan for social reform, not for combating violence. Unfortunately the major media outlets that covered up corruption while praising past administrations bogus achievements all of a sudden focus on bashing the current administration while ignoring their achievements. Again, go to AMLO's YouTube channel if you're in doubt. The videos are categorized according to national projects. Never has a Mexican president addressed national issues on a daily basis in the way that AMLO does. He may consider himself a pacifist but don't confuse pacifism for a pushover.

If you send your hitmen to war and die , the least these “bosses “could do is show they are the real deal, not fold hands cooperate and snitch .

    2. Arturo had plenty of time to get ready to go out like that. Most others get caught off guard or get themselves caught by making dumb moves all paranoid.

      Delete
    3. Arturo was cooked out that's why he didn't care going out fighting

    4. Arturo just rolled like that, he had a couple confrontations leading up to that I believe. A lot of these “Bad Ass” Jefes have the people and equipment that they can call on but don’t or their people fail them. Arturo was a different breed, didn’t Vaca get caught with 4 guards? They weren’t ready or willing to fulfill their duty. Look at Tolin, he didn’t have time but was ready, it’s about whether they want to live up to their names and It would seem like Arturo always was.

For one, nobody who comments here is at Arturo's, Menchos, Chapo's or Zambadas status, there fore you got nothing to worry about as far as being snitched on or snitching. It's all fantasy talk.

  12. I see one CJNG nut sucker repeat about ten times that all las Vacas men left him in Colima. If so how do you explain all the Narco blockades is Colima after his arrest. The nut sucker has also repeated that Mencho stopped sending his men guns, money and supplies in Colima because he knew that LA Caca wouldn't last even though he was kicking CJNG asses in Colima. I say wow to that what a great leader La Mencha is to stop sending supplies to his men and just leave them to get wiped out. Even though apparently the CJNG Colima cell is lead apparently by actual relatives of LA Mencha. Some people are just so inept it's laughable.

    2. I am not saying they are I don't know Hos winning in Colima. I am saying there is one CJNG nut sucker who repeatedly posted that they where but it was because Mencho had allowed it to happen because he is stopped sending his men supplies as he knew La Caca wasn't going to last. He has posted about ten times the same lines that LA Mencha is a great leader and knew La Caca wasn't going to last so he didn't bother supplying his men and just left them to die without support. Att: not a nut sucker

    3. Come on CDS nutlicker he never said Mencho was a great leader. He said vaca was smoking them cuz they were the biggest cell in Colima. La Vaca was Menchitos compadre & el Tres wanted to fuck la vaca over cuz he probably wanted all the power too himself. All the foos la vaca men got were drug dealers they only killed La Bola negra which was a high CJNG target in Colima. How hard would it be for Mencho to sent 400 men to Colima capital & take out La Vaca. CJNG wasn’t supply M2 & sending men to him so that’s why he couldn’t take over Tepeque

      Delete
    4. Hahaha so funny to see the nut lickers get their panties in a bunch. I guess you're the one that's been saying it. I suppose Mencho didn't want to send his "400" men to support his men that where apparently getting "smoked" your words not mine since"he knew " that LA Caca wouldn't last and just let his men get smoked. And apparently it is harder then what you seem to think to just send 400 men and wipe out a cell since apparently that's why M2 lost. You think that it might be that CJNG is stretched to thin all across these wars they have in Mexico that they can't just get there "400" men and go wipe out a cell. You think that maybe if CJNG weren't in all these wars and been hunted down by the government that they would have sent there "400" men to surround Colima and Tepeque to wipe those small Cells out?
      Att: not a nut sucker
Att: se alinean o los alineo!! 😆 😜
