On The Coahuila And Nuevo León Borders, A New Confrontation Between Armed Civilians And Security Forces

A week after similar violent events are recorded in several municipalities

At the beginning of the last week of 2021, there was a new confrontation between elements of the security forces of the State of Coahuila and armed civilians, on federal highway number 2 on its Hidalgo-Nuevo Laredo section, better known as La Ribereña.

The events occurred in the vicinity of the municipality of Hidalgo, on the state lines of Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, which has been the scene of previous clashes. It’s unknown so far if this confrontation left people injured.

So far, details of this new confrontation are unknown, which occur a week after similar violent events are recorded in the cities of San Pedro de las Colonias in the Laguna region, in San Juan de Sabinas of the Carbonífera region. And again in the municipality of Hidalgo in the northern region of the entity.

During the past week, Gerardo Márquez Guevera, head of the Attorney General's Office (FGE) in Coahuila, announced that violent acts and attacks on elements and units of state security corporations are correlated.

The above, he announced when he arrived at Piedras Negras airport, where he even said that he would meet with authorities of the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) and the National Guard, to analyze the situation and reinforce actions in the northern region of the entity.

So far, authorities of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of the State of Coahuila have not issued information about it, only that the corresponding statement is being prepared.
