Tijuana, Baja California: Armed Attack Leaves Officer Injured This Morning

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

On Saturday morning, a confrontation broke out between elements of the Tijuana municipal police and armed men in the vicinity of the Red Cross facility of the Los Santos neighborhood; leaving an officer shot and a criminal detained.

Around 9:00 a.m. today, two elements of the Ministry of Public Security and Municipal Transit arrested two men walking on Laguna Salada Street; during the routine inspection one of the subjects shot one of the police officers injuring him in the left leg.

Both criminals tried to flee after firing their weapons, however the injured officer's partner managed to reach one of the men and proceeded to arrest him.

Elements of the Attorney General's Office (FGE) and the National Guard cordoned off the area for expert services to carry out their work. The injured officer is already being treated at the Red Cross of the La Mesa district.

  1. The partner should have shot the suspect, now he is going to be out soon after a bribe is paid.
