Over 2 Tons of Marijuana Found at Grow Sites in Riverside County, California

A sheriff's department investigation led to the discovery last Wednesday of more than two tons of marijuana just east of Temecula, authorities reported.

Around 7 a.m., the Riverside County Sheriff's Department along with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife served eight marijuana cultivation-related search warrants at eight separate residences/properties in Anza. The investigation turned up approximately 19,916 marijuana plants and 1,015 pounds of processed marijuana for a total combined weight of over two tons, the sheriff's department said.

The processed pot was collected for evidence. Three firearms — two non-California compliant rifles and one handgun) were also collected, according to the sheriff's department.

The searches were done at eight properties. No one was found at the properties during the search warrant services.

"A follow-up investigation is being conducted to identify the subjects responsible for the illegal marijuana cultivation operations," the sheriff's department reported. To date, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors has approved only indoor marijuana manufacturing and distribution outlets — not outdoor commercial cannabis grows — in unincorporated communities.

Last year, 7 people were found dead at an illegal outdoor growhouse in Temecula, California, as reported by Borderland Beat.

Even being legalized in California, there is still a big blackmarket for California grown marijuana. The question remains whether the same will be true in Mexico when they possibly legalize cannabis.

  1. 8 different places, no one arrested. Somebody was tipped off, that's a lot of week, but it's Temecula, if not wine, it's pot

  3. Maybe I am missing something but I always wondered - if you can have an ounce of bud and grow 6 plants. Suppose each plant produces 250 grams. It is possible that you could easily have over a pound of primo bud. How does the laws look at that in the US and or hopefully Mexico soon?

    1. One plant can give you between 3-6 pounds if you do not burn it with nitrogen in its vegetative state. Half a million is normal in Modesto, don rafa has been in jail about 3 times. His face is everywhere in Modesto, el verdadero Rey de Modesto compitas

  4. Anza is the grow capital of Riverside County . Everyone grows there or has a role in the process of getting the medication from cultivation to the population . Theres so much good weed here you can have a oz delivered in 20 min or less 24/7 . Its a THC Enthusiasts wet dream . And every year the strains thc percentages creep up a little higher to where 32-35% is the norm . 20 years a go you were lucky to get 17-20% out here . It's the way it should be all over in every state .

  10. If you have a pound on 6 plants but you can only possess an ounce, then you can only harvest an ounce at a time, the rest stays on the plants. Or gets sold legally to the stores, if you get that license.
