On Tuesday a Guanajuato man sends an open letter to El Marro asking for peace, on Wednesday he was gunned down

El Parro for Borderland Beat

A Guanajuato man who appealed to a cartel boss for an end to violence against innocent people may have lost his life for his trouble.

Joel Negrete Barrera, a 2018 candidate for mayor of Abasolo, was shot to death Wednesday, one day after he posted an open letter on Facebook to ‘El Marro’, the leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel.

Negrete was working at his convenience store in the community of El Tule Wednesday evening when two armed men on a motorcycle drove up, entered the store and opened fire in front of witnesses, killing him.

Negrete published the document addressed to José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias El Marro, on Tuesday morning, making a plea for peace.
“Please be considerate and have respect for all of us who are oblivious to the confrontation that the state holds against your person and organization,” he wrote, pleading with Yépez not to hold the civilian population accountable for the actions of corrupt government officials.
“You, like all of us, have a mother, brothers, a wife and children. You undoubtedly understand that the well-being of the family is the axis of human existence and that is why, for the well-being and safety of my family, I have had the audacity to address you,” Negrete wrote. “The millions of Guanajuatenses, oblivious to the causes that motivated this endless war, need a climate of peace to be able to continue with our lives.”
The cartel, linked to fuel theft and extortion, has been engaged in a bloody turf war with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which has contributed to making Guanajuato Mexico’s most violent state with 4,500 homicides in 2019.

President Lopez Obrador addressed Negrete’s murder in his morning press briefing today. “We have to continue fighting crime and guarantee peace,” he said. “The situation in Guanajuato has become very serious, more than in any other state.”

So far, authorities have not established a link between Negrete’s letter and his murder.

  1. Unfortunately when it comes to criminals begging does not work. If you look at history and you have an open mind and some common sense, you might be able to realise that only extreme force and accountability of criminals is only way. Laws and order is not easy to achieve with those that have no regards for human life and ethics towards others. In words that any pendejo would understand "la bebes o la derramas" behave or else..just like pancho villa and Zapata and the Aztecs.

  2. Could it be that the CJNG killed him to make El Marro and his cartel look like the bad guys? El Mecho is all about sending messages. This looks like El Mencho's work, similar to how he killed El Pirata de Culiacan after he insulted El Mencho on social media. Killed in a few hours.

    1. 8:17 el Pirata was killed days later, not hours, after the Mencho video

    2. El pirata and this guy are two completely different things. One guy insults el Mencho (Cjng)while the other wrote a post asking to please stop the violence towards innocent citizens from el Marro(csrl). Two very different actions that should have different reactions
      Peace

    3. 100% It was Mencho. His goons are all over Guanajuato killing innocents and sewing terror. Its un freekin believable Mexico cant put a stop to this. Colombia dismantled the Medellin cartel and Cali Cartels why cant Mexico dismantle CJNG and CDS?

    4. it couldve been CJNG, it couldve been CSRL. in this case probably Marros people since he was adressing Marro, Marros people couldve taken it as if hes blaming them.

but yeah every cartel has been responsible of killing people, soldiers, cops, creating trouble and blaming their rivals usually to direct attention and the heat on them. All Cartels claim to be for the people and want peace for the people but do all the dirty shit and blame their rivals and then be like "see told you theyre bad, but thats why we are here to save you from them". its called calentando la plaza

  3. Everyone thinks marro is who's bringing hell but forget to realise that cjng are the ones doing most of the mess doing most of the killings, marro in a way is just defending even though innocent people often pay the price..

  4. What is the answer to this evil insanity? A death penalty by firing squad? A penalty of burial without recognition after verification by DNA? The seizure of all assets?

  5. This goes to show that those "people", do NOT understand compassion for ANYBODY and can only be met with annihilation . They are working for the devil, the UN, and communist/globalists - whether they know it or not. The drug cartels are new-age slave traders who's strategy STARTS with destroying the family.

    1. @8:25 -

The UN is involved in Mexico, too? Huh? Please elaborate...also, please explain to me how the cartels are new-age slave-traders. I am lost on your assessment.

Also, I disagree with your assumption that the cartels' number one strategy is to destroy the family. I think you got it a little backwards.

The number one strategy is money and how to get it. Drugs and how to move them and the government- how to buy them off.

I agree that families are destroyed along the way, but it is far from THE STRATEGY. Everyone UNDERSTANDS compassion, my friend. It just comes down to who wants to admire and project it. Some do and some don't.

Giving out corona virus aid in the form of pantry items is an act of COMPASSION. Yes, there are ulterior motives, but compassion is number one. Ask any needy Mexican person if they really needed those pantry items.

      Help me understand your comment...

  6. I think it was cjng that killed him. In his letter he makes marro look good, I don't see a reason why marro would want to kill him.

    1. Yes marro doesnt have presence in the east side of guanajuato where this happened,
his people have been pushed all the way past celaya being their last stronghold.

    2. If anyone has proven to be the masters of stirring shit up, it’s the bastards you speak of. Many innocents were killed under the guise of rivals, this dates back all the way to the Cadereyta Jiménez massacre.

  9. I agree with 8:14am. Any fools knows you don't take a knife to a gun fight. Evil will never play nice, the word compromise is not in their vocabulary. A gov't agency needs to step up with a mission. A mission to proceed deep into Mexico, pick up the path of NJGC, follow it, learn what they can along the way, when they find El Mencho infiltrate his team by whatever means available and terminate El Mencho command. Terminate with EXTREME prejudice. That is the only way this madness will stop.

  11. If anything this guy's letter makes Marro sound like some kind of powerful feudal lord. So I don't see killing the poitico being Marro's doing. His letter also doesn't dwell on Jal in a way that would make them want to go after him. The people he really hits hard are on the GTO state level. So if they killed him it was probably on behalf of the state security directors. (The guys who it is knowledge have double crossed Santa Rosa and are all in with the other guys).

  12. How come the Zetas no help Marro? Maybe they respect CJNG and do not want another fight. Marro lasted long but will die como Escobar. I think he will fight to end instead of cry and give up como Chapo.
