Trump tweets offer of help to eliminate cartels----Mexico's president answers

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat El Diario Chihuahua and Reforma

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that "the intervention of a foreign government is not necessary to deal with these cases".

Mexico City.- After an attack on the LeBarón family in Chihuahua, which left nine dead, including six minors, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, extended an offer of  help to Mexico to "clean the cartels."

"This is the time for Mexico, with the help of the United States, to make war against drug cartels and erase them from the face of the earth. We are simply waiting for the call of their new [great] president!" through your Twitter account.

"If Mexico needs or requests help to end these monsters, the United States is ready, willing and able to get involved and do the work quickly and effectively," he added.

Trump also pointed out that López Obrador is a great President, but the cartels have become large and powerful, so "an army is needed to defeat another army."

However, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the intervention of a foreign government is not necessary to deal with these cases.

"It is something that corresponds to resolve the Government of Mexico, we thank President Trump and all the European governments who want to help, but this depends on our sovereignty, I will talk to Trump to thank him for his support and see if in the agreements of cooperation, there is a possibility that help can be obtained in the case it is needed and in the framework of bilateral agreements we would request that support that we are very grateful for, but I believe that we do not need to address these cases of the intervention of a foreign government, "said the President in conference.

"I respond as soon as I finish, just as he contacted me about Culiacan, I am going to contact President Trump when the conference ends if he asks to speak with me," he said.

Just on October 19, Presidents Trump and López Obrador spoke by telephone after the failed operation in Culiacán to capture Ovidio Guzmán López, son of drug trafficker Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, a call that the Mexican president described as respectful.

  1. It’s hard to take Trump seriously but Americans that have been killed or murdered anywhere in the world become a rally cry by American citizens and this may not go away very soon.

You have just helped Trump win a second term as Mexico will be again be the boogeyman.

Mexico, a county of criminals, cop killers, drug manufacturing and corridor to Mexican and Central American criminals that come the the United States.

    7. How did all those candidates get kiled? Yet amlo lived to get elected? That in and of itself is suspect. I bet if none of those poor people died, he would've never been president. Seriously how ain't that a huge thing? Your casa already forgot it. Journalists can't put out the truth. Lest they feel a knife on their throats. That's why y'all need the right to bear arms. Otherwise your plight will always be hid. Cause journalists cannot do their jobs. Exposing corrupt police. Exposing corrupt governors. Man once your governors are owned. Expect for you to be murdered. With absolute impunity. But with your presidents bought and paid for. You guys are living in absolute Hell. Any and everyone will be hostages. And your government will be in on it. Your cartels are the government now. Why should you guys even vote anymore? Or even ever hope to have freedom. Peace of mind. Or any future. Stay strong my brown brothers.

What’s going on Mexico is far bigger than guns - if you think eliminating them would be the answer then that includes you.

Like the OG cartels from the 70's and 80' had more control. Now , any kid can live fast and die young with out giving a shit if innocents get in the way. It's out of control. The big dogs need to get together and have more control over the substance of who gets what plaza like the older generation. Peace is the order to control the plazas and their people. It's getting out of control and it will only get worse unless the cartels communicate and control the violence. I know it will be difficult but it is what it is.

    4. 9:43 AM - LOL the U.S. is responsible for this? With that type of rationale it's no wonder Mexico is a failed state. It's everybody else's fault. No - it's your nation's fault. Your nation is the one that produces the drugs - your nation is the one who's government is so rancid with corruption that it is literally incapable of acting against the cartels in any meaningful manner, and your nation is the one that is so desperate for some type of change that you all elected a far left-wing socialist who promised to combat the cartel problem with hugs not bullets and you all elected him because it was a new idea and it sure sounded better than the old methods which bore no fruit. Every nation on earth has drug addicts - so please, spare me. The reason your nation's cartels are sending the majority of those drugs to the U.S. isn't because we're the only ones using drugs - it's because it's logistically easier (bordering nation), and as a country with a huge economy it's a no-brainer business decision. Also, your nation's cartels ship drugs to other nations on other continents - but of course, according to you, those nations bare no responsibility. Don't worry - everything is fine. Mexico is fine. Everything is good. Good night. Sweet dreams.

For example, many of the homicides in Tijuana and Juarez are connected to the domestic meth trade.

  30. This is a big eff up. But cartel operations are often sloppy.

Mexico's government is incompetent, inept and essentially powerless. This is no astonishing reveal. Everyone knows this.
The cartel has infiltrated every arm of the federal and state governments as it is, and is now running the show. Even AMLO knows who is really in power, as he carefully crafts his words.

The drug cartels want to do business. They don't really want to wage wars with foreign military forces, or hired mercenaries from Russia, Romania, Serbia and the US taking private cash payments for cartel scalps. And they definitely don't want American Special Forces and Marines doing covert ops at night, and pushing their shit in every weekend.

They are not cut out for that kind of crap long term. Yes, their ranks are deep, and they are armed to the teeth and have a lot of local support.

But they are mobsters, a.k.a. sloppy police forces and military rejects protecting criminal organizations and their operations.

  35. The reason why the American public is so quick to cry war at any chance they get is for 2 reasons,
1: Americans have never seen ground combat on a daily basis for weeks on end on american soil.
2: Mainstream media does a great job at hiding the bloody truth from the American public as to what really happens in destabalized war ridden countries where the U.S has "intervened"

The U.S government is responsible for the deaths of more innocent men women and children then all the cartels in the world combined. Why do you think people like Christopher Assange, Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning are persecuted and painted as traitors by the mainstream media.

U.S intervention means a lot of innocent lives will die in the process of combating drug cartels. As soon as innocent people start to die you will see victims families take up arms to fight off the U.S help... the media will label these people as insurgents to cover up all of the collateral damage and blowback and the U.S public will eat it up.

¡No seas estúpido!

  38. Not going to happen. The cartel operations are scattered all over Mexico, from the remotest mountains to the street corners of Juarez. A military solution would require an invasion on a scale not seen since WW II, against an enemy totally dispersed among, and indistinguishable from, the general populace. It would be Vietnam multiplied times 1,000.

  61. UPDATE: Here in the U.S. this story is all over the nightly news programs..Def not a good look. I will bet anyone on this site that there is a 100% chance that there will be some response - not saying it will be the U.S. - maybe just a matter of creating enough pressure to make the corrupt do-nothing Mexican politicians get off their ass and do something but I guarantee that there will be a something done.

Having said that - what’s wrong with this picture? From an outsider’s perspective, I’ll tell you - it shouldn’t take pressure from the U.S. over the lives of American citizens for something to be done. How many hundreds of thousands of Mexican citizens have suffered the same fate? Aren’t their lives just as valuable? Of course they are. But yet the corrupt Mexican politicians do nothing for them. Playo > Plato. Think a good step one would be getting a real president with two testicles - even if he has to borrow a pair from a squirrel. Also would be great to see an empowered military allowed to do what they do best. No idea how to deal with the corruption down there other than legal reforms that make the penalty of corruption not worth the risk.
