Familia Guzmán will Send a Letter of Gratitude to AMLO for Ovidio's Release

Yaqui for Borderland Beat from: RadioFormula y EldelSur

Family of Ovidio Guzmán will give a message of gratitude to López Obrador for the release of Ovidio. The lawyer confirmed that he will announce the thoughts of the family of Ovidio Guzmán, after the events of yesterday in Culiacán.

The lawyer José Luis Gonzalez Meza said he does not know if there is an arrest warrant or investigation file that has been initiated against Ovidio Guzmán.

José Luis González Meza, lawyer of the family of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, said that the son of “El Chapo”, Ovidio Guzmán López, is free and in good health.

He also denied the rumor that Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, the half brother of Guzmán López and son of “El Chapo” had died during the clashes recorded Thursday in Culiacán, Sinaloa. There still is speculation that he was also detained.

By telephone, the lawyer explained that, after the shootings recorded in Culiacán, Ovid contacted his family at around 9:30 p.m. José Luis González Meza, lawyer for the family of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, commented:

Ovid talked to the family: 'Don't worry, I'm fine and good'. The whole family stayed calm, his mother, his brothers, his aunts, in short, the whole family, surely it was a mistake on the part of the local or federal government, they confused him with some other person, we are calm in that sense ”.
At 2:00 p.m., at the Journalists Club, Ovidio Guzmán López's family will give a message of gratitude to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador  (AMLO) for releasing him, said José Luis Guzmán Meza, one of the family's lawyers by Joaquín Guzmán Loera.

“Approximately, around five in the afternoon they contacted me, that he was missing (Ovid Guzmán). It's the only thing I can confirm to you right now, because at 2 p.m., at the Journalists Club, we are going to give a press conference to send the Guzmán Loera family's message about the events, ” said the lawyer in an interview with Oscar Mario Beteta of radio Formula

"If it was the president's decision, it was a very humane decision respecting the human rights of any citizen," the lawyer added.
"Los Chapitos", Ovidio on the right
The conference will be to express "the thoughts of the Guzmán Loera family, which is the message that they are going to send to the people of Mexico," he said.

Please take into consideration there is alot of conflicting info out there, we are trying to sort through it all ASAP. Stay tuned.

  1. Honestly, I'm glad they're rubbing AMLO's face in it. Maybe the bad press will actually force him to act.

Mexico should of never gave up el Chapo to the US , how are they gonna lock up el chapo when he technically never cross the drugs himself , he did all the work from Mexico so how are u gonna prosecute someone doing dirt in another country

  2. Quite sure his payment is more than generous for his release.
No need for a thank you.
Rule of law only applies with payment.

    2. Saludos Yaqui.

The Guzman family should do right by having himself turned over to authorities. Rule of law shouldn't be applied to others than oneself.
IMO, this episode only blackened the eye of Mexico's presidency. These atrocities will only continue if enforcement isn't applied.

      Best of wishes

    3. PAYMENTS?! 🤦🏽‍♂️😂😂😂There were no payments. There were ultimatums. Have you not heard the radio calls between the military and the cartels? Did you not see the video footage? Military personnel were being held hostage along with their family members. AMLO weighed his options. He knows he was going to be criticized if he acted or retreated, he chose retreat because he, unlike previous presidents and American presidents, values innocent human lives... Culiacan was at the brink of becoming a battle field. Payments! Pffft, get out of here. Not this time.

    4. The U.S government has killed millions not with their own hands but ordering assassinations to genocide but not one of them is in custody. The mafia back in the great depression was causing massacres all through out U.S they are Alive and well ain't nobody paying attention to that right or did you just forget about them infiltrating politics and real estate and casinos etc etc same shit in mexico the only thing is that in mexico betrayal is betrayal U.S keeps its enemies closer just like trump betrayed his followers with the whole russia scandal . every government plays a role In this damn WAR ON DRUGS so no its not the cartels fault its the lack of power we put into these governments we depend on but fail. every system is run by a criminal being criminals is what created government structure in the first place . ITS ALL BUSINESS and COLLATERAL

    5. Sad but in total agreement. EVERY GOVT and also EVERY USER plays a role in the war on drugs.

    6. E42, saludos amigo! I'm quite sure money changed hands too. There were negotiations. Ultimately, the reason Ovidio and possibly Ivan walked out unscathed is they threw down something. Mexico's gov could've just ordered on the spot execution, and knowingly thrown those troops to the wolves. They've never had a problem doing that before. They didn't, for a reason..I don't know if it was cash, promise of something, or giving them info on rivals, like Mencho's location. But, it wasn't just to save Innocents. Mexico has proven over and over that it's citizens are just livestock, and cannon fodder. JMO Great to see your comments, and the simple minded replys!

    8. Nice input my friend.
Something definitely took place. An exchange of some sort between government and the Guzman's. Civilian life for the Mexican government has proven minute in the past. Always fulfilling their objectives when necessary.

    3. Bends over? Nah bro...Everybody will se how AMLO will improve the situation in Mexico...if you really follow Mexico and its real issues then you would know that organized crime and the violence that comes with it is NOT the only issue...and believe it or not Amlo is adressing other issues that needed fixing like socia security, health care, elderly aid, and others or what u think? That 120+ years of raping the country can be fixed in 6 moths? Get real and get out there and experience the country if not then dont give your self entitled opinion with no foundation

    4. 8:14 AMLO is making the same mistake a lot of politicians make. He's only focusing on one aspect of the problem instead of addressing it from every angle. He's a fool if he thinks that ignoring the cartels will produce any results.

    5. 5:33 like i said i truly
Believe that AMLO has his best interest at hand for the citizens of Mexico and in this case of Culiacan...what happen when Peña Nieto and Sedena shot the hell
      Out of Mochis If im
Not mistaken when they were on the hunt for Chapo...they comitted countless human right violations to innocent civilians you can look up first hand from people of mochis how the helicopters were shooting directly to the houses and they had to run to the hills
To save their lives. Now they got their prized posesssion, Uncle Sam got their top Narco and what has it changed? This war on drugs is a neverending useless "war" that is only beneficial to the elite starting with their privately Owned correctional facilities encarcerating scores of minorities for minor drug offenses and getting funded by the federal governement, negocio redondo compa,
Nothing will change because mexico has been a narco state for a loooong time and that means that the mafia (10+ major cartels) are embedded in governement local state and federal, and even in society giving false
Hope to the youth about wealth and power when in fact most kids only last weeks as sicarios or Halcones being wiped out and being part of those 160+ k dead in what as AMLO pointed out is a cemetary of a country (great choice of words)

    2. The eyes have been on them for decades. How many Narcos can say they've been kidnapped, arrested, and released? Everyone keeps saying CDS is weak and soft, but someone is afraid of the repurcussions.

    3. Its Mexico nothing will happen...The Guzman family has houses and ranchos all over Sinaloa and deep in those rugged mountains. Mayo is such a ghost up there its incredible, the US Govt hasnt been able to locate him ever. They will disappear for another few years and then make another mistake and get back in the news then.

    5. They burned 18 wheelers to block the entry’s to Culiacan. They didn’t burn the city down or mess with civilians like the media reports. They were going at it with the law only. They should’ve all gone to the Sierra and battled it out there. Lol. They reacted on the fly.

  9. If charges are true he is a criminal which is a glorified thing in Mexico. Taking bribes is also a crime but this is Mexico. Sing a song about yo presidente. Glorify him. Otherwise Mexico needs a military to prevent cartels from ruling the country. The rule of law is a standard all over the world but it you want to sacrifice a whole country because of a payment then it Is a failed country and the person taking the payment is as more corrupt as the rest of us. He is held to a higher standard and without being politically incorrect some folks will mops floors and be corrupt and some will be elected officials and be corrupt. So the elected officials should be forced to Moo floors in jail just like everyone else...

    2. How's he gonna be least deaths president? Mexico will shatter it's record for homicides again this year. And, no signs of slowing anytime soon. The only murders this policy will reduce is extrajudicial types. But if you're not going after the bad guys, then there's none to kill.
