Michoacán/Buenavista: Clashes Between Criminal Groups Leave Several Sicarios Dead

Oaxaqueño for Borderland Beat

On Tuesday, armed encounters between antagonistic criminal groups took place in Pinzándaro and Purépero, both belonging to the municipality of Buenavista, located between Buenavista and Apatzingán. Most reports state that three men, wearing military clothes and showing bullet wounds, were killed as a result of the clashes. However, another source state that a total of eight people were killed, namely four in Pinzándaro and four in Purépero. This source is actually the only one showing a picture of the deceased piled up men in Purépero, wearing military clothes, clearly proving there are four instead of three killed. Taking this into account, it seems credible (although other sources have not issued this information so far) that four more were found dead in Pinzándaro (so eight in total).

Oaxaqueño Analysis:

The clashes have been the latest in a series of violent incidents taking place in Buenavista and Apatzingán in recent days. Last Thursday, encounters between Los Viagras and CJNG were reported in Pinzándaro. On Saturday, further clashes took place in Buenavista and Apatzingán. On Sunday, criminals blocked roads in the above-mentioned areas. According to reports from Tuesday, state and federal police forces have been deployed to Buenavista and Apatzingán in response to the violence.

Buenavista is one of the birthplaces of the former Autodefensas who fought against the Knights Templar Cartel. Already back then, some five years ago, there was a virtual frontline between Buenavista and Apatzingán, highlighting the rampant presence of criminal groups in this region (Tierra Caliente in general). Having said that, the violent events of the recent days can still be qualified as “unusually high”, even for a notorious area like this. It can only be speculated what caused the latest clashes between Los Viagras and their former ally CJNG. Nevertheless, it might be connected to the recent arrest in early December of El Cuadrado, a high-ranking Los Viagras member, as well as other members of the group. Taking El Cuadrado’s high profile, as well as the fact that he was arrested in Apatzingán into account, it seems likely that CJNG saw a chance to make a move and fill the power gap what might have caused the recent clashes between the two groups.

  2. Let’s remember there are other criminal groups with a presence in those municipalities that could also have been involved in the clashes; Los Licea under the command of el Cenizo in Apatzingan, el Flaco under the command of El Americano/H3 (and formerly under Don Gera of Colima) in Buenavista (especially the municipal seat), the group of Gallito in Apatazingan, plus grupo de el Metro in Apatzingan. If I had to guess which group of Los Viagras would be involved in these clashes, it would be Los Blancos de Troya under the command of el Boto, and based just outside Pizandaro.

  3. Partially true or false. Some of the Viagras realized that Los Sierra Santana were turning in their own plaza bosses to take the heat away from them. In Pinzandaro the people from Buenavista CJNG with information from the Viagras that flipped and La Unida de Intellegencia Cidadana went into Pinzandaro going after La Gorda the people from Apatznigan flipped on the Viagras. CJNG from Agillila went into Aguillila and killed Ezequiel Revueltas. Their were around 16 to 18 dead this all started on the 13th of this month. Their are multiple videos on youtube showing clashes taking place in Pinzandiro, Aguillia their are also more pictures showing more dead viagras. In Agillia their is a picture of a pick up with bullets holes.

El Gordo decided to run to Tancitaro and was intercepted by El 15 from Coalcoman and managed to lose them and went back to an area near Pinzandiro. As I type this the viagras are surrounded by their enemies if they aren't able to kill them the state will come in and Capture them.

    These Revueltas

    2. So what's wrong? You're also saying it's cjng/ex-viagras vs viagras right?
@ladrillero:he is stating that cjng is there, how can you agree but in the same sentence disagree by saying there is no cjng?

    3. 3:37 PM Yeah they are running he might just have saved his own skin. Nazario has watched his content a few times I wonder what his reaction to this is since he hasn't made any noise he might have fully retired. From a strategic point he is doing everything right and avoiding anything that places him in danger. He did get help that is for sure from who I don't know.

5:01 PM CJNG is present in Michaocan but only their name becasue everyone that clames to be CJNG is from Michaocan the majority are Ex Milenio, Ex Zetas, Ex Empresa, Ex FM, Ex Templarios, Ex Autodefensas and even some Ex Viagras. These people joined Organzied crime during those eras I am sure their are some ex Milenio from the late 90s still going strong as their are some from the other eras even some from the 80s but that would be stretching it since most from that era have settled down bought farms ect. or were killed.

  5. Cjng will have tierra caliente by July. It took mencho most of his life to set foot in that plaza again but these last few years cjng is gaining more and more presence there. Mayo wanted that plaza bad too, he tried to get Dr Mireles to help him out take out CT in exchange for ammo and money but Dr wasn't having it. Just saying

    2. They punked out El Chapos kids, streets, and position as #1. Everyone after will be a piece of cake. Don't listen to the haters saying that CJNG will weaken or die soon. They're playing by the rules as far as they can. And the government is rewarding them as far as they can. At the end of the day they're a drug cartel, but they're currently the strongest threat to anyone in their way. Nobody took down Zetas and CDS like MENCHO and his people. Plus the other enemies they eliminated is not easy. The man was a big thing before the fame. Now he'll go as a legend and earned his spot no matter what anyone says. Now CJNG are being targeted by all sides. Yet they still continue to grow.
