Narco banners flood Acapulco

Chivis Martinez for Borderland Beat  from Reforma  Thank you Chava

At dawn yesterday, there was the finding of at least 20 narcomantas in different points of the port of Acapulco.

Copies of the same message were placed mainly in crowded areas, such as Avenida La Escénica and Área Diamante, announcing a proposed union between criminal cartels.
“To the citizens of this beautiful port!! Peace is returning, and this is not the work of the government, but the coordination and respect of a single group called 'Los Amigos' (sic)".

The message goes on with leaders of the Cártel Independiente de Acapulco [CIDA] given an ultimatum to join the group.

"To all the people of de José Angel Palacios Galeana, "Capuchino and/or Culon", Oscar Aguilar and Virus, they have 24 hours to join or run (sic)".

    1. Not really “punks with guns” would be the sicarios.
      There’s two types of cartels.
(1)Domestic cartel group, who’s goal is to increase there collective profits by any means.

(2)internacional organized cartel, controls the selling prices and purchase input.

These guys seam to be a typical domestic cartel starting beef with another domestic, witch means that they are been sponsor by the big cartel.

Remember that to go to war you need money and Lots of it, No cartel goes to war with few hundred Thousand dollars, might as well join them instead of fighting. And this is what’s happening here. These guys are literally telling the other cartel group to join or fight. Hopefully they’ll join or BB will be posting a lot of reports on Acapulco.

Your definition 2 is correct for a cartel but definition 1 is gangs which you have in every city of America. You had a real cartel in America (although localized) when you had Al Capone in Chicago, and a real cartel with the French and then the Pizza connection many years back. There is only one real cartel controlling the supply at any degree where cocaine price can be manipulated (definition of a cartel) and that is the Sinaloan Federation that buys almost 100% of Shinig Path paste, about 80% of the group formerly known as FARC’s paste, and a hell of a lot of the black market product Morales coca unions produce.

    1. Alinearse or "aliniarse" means getting in line with the line, on whatever side you chose or are forced to chose.
It may simply mean you chose to pay me Plaza, piso, or any extortion fees.
