Jalisco: Gunmen shoot former Attorney General and seven others

Posted by Slappy with info from "Char"  republished from AP

Note: The 8 month old baby burned in yesterday's attack, has died

Authorities in Mexico's second biggest city say gunmen for an organized crime gang tried to kill a state official, wounding him, three police officers and four civilians.

Jalisco state Gov. Aristoteles Sandoval said Monday the attack in the center of Guadalajara was aimed at Luis Carlos Najera, the state labor secretary who previously served three decades as a police officer and state prosecutor. He said Najera suffered a hand wound.

Sandoval said police captured six suspects and recovered "a large arsenal" of weapons. He said those detained claimed to belong to an elite group for a crime organization operating in Jalisco.

The governor did not identify the gang, but the state is home ground for the Jalisco New Generation drug cartel.

The prosecutor was surprised by an armed group as he left a Japanese restaurant in Lafayette, one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city.

"I had a work meeting, there were two suspicious people that I suspected as members of organized crime," the ex-prosecutor said at a press conference he gave and in which he only showed his bandaged left hand. " I put my escorts on alert, and when I left they had the armored truck blocking the entrance, which was what allowed me to save my life, "he said.

Note from Char:
Chaos in Jalisco yesterday after the attack against the ex attorney general Luis Carlos Nájera. The media and Jalisco authorities, are blaming CJNG but it has not been fully confirmed who is behind the attack. A bold move by either Los Menchos or el Cholo.
There 3-4 reported roadblocks caused by cartel members setting fire to vehicles and buses but the worst was a mother and a baby were burned they are not dead, but still Cartel members started the fire when people where inside the bus. [Images via GdL Informa]
The 6 subjects that attacked Luis Carlos Nájera where all detained but where involved in a shootout with local police. Proceso reported that at least 12 subjects where involved in the attack against Nájera.

  1. Good job catching some of the ever growing cartel. But a few days later, they will be set free, after the jail gets a generious bribe.

    1. I agree 11:20, Najera has been linked to CJNG for several years now.
Here’s a Processo story from 2015 about Najera’s connections to CJNG:

    1. Sinaloa don't have nothing, they been in Chihuahua for a long time trying to get that plaza and they still can't. Not to mention a few plazas lost to Mencho. Only in corridos the Sinaloa cartel is tough, or with innocent people. Let's see what they are really made off

    2. Ey ey at 3:00pm Sinaloa are still on top mayo rcq chapitos havent been caught or decapitated so dont post silly info

    5. 5:53 michoacanos were working with zetas/golfos before they started la familia michoacana. You sinaloas always talk out your a$$, cjng took cds in Tijuana, Quintana roo (Dona letty plaza) Chiapas and I would say colima but colima NEVER been Sinaloa plaza, cds just wanted to take it from cjng but recently gave up.. Why do Sinaloas always spread false info? Don't be mad cuz a sinaloa is not the baddest capo anymore lol too funny

    6. 5:00 Hey dumbass have you ever heard of Guadalajara? lmao these clowns.

      Delete
    7. @7:35 this guy CJNG took Tijuana and Colima from CDS? jajaha they cant even take out el cholo in GUADALAJaRa jajaj.lets be real they arent that huge powerful cartel the media portrays them to be

      Delete
    8. @4:58 you know what was RCQ's home??? Guadalajara he has more connects in Jalisco than Sinaloa, he doesnt even respect los chapitos, and even if he tries to run the show its his family who calls shots not him he keeps foing on video to tell the government to leave him alone, the power behind the caros might be somewhat strong yet it is limited. the chapitos are not respected by anyone, they can be chapos sons but they arent chapo, those loyal to chapo refuse to recognize los chapitos, their influence and power is now regional and they even fight their own family. the only smart one with international power is mayo yet mayo is a pacifist that rather not get involved in conflict and wants to distant him self from the chaos that guzman spread, if there is a problem he rather resolve it with agreements than with bullets thats what kept him alive kept him out of jail and calling shots he would rather sort things out with jalisco rather than fight jalisco so sinaloa can be on top like you say but only if you count sinaloa as a federation if you combine all those groups that no longer get along, but if you mean is as 1 man led cartel then nope sinaloa is no longer on top

      Delete
    9. Stop trying to descredit los chapitos they are young but well respected

      Delete
    10. 205 am Los Chapitos are respected? Why who and for what reasons? Chapo earned any respect for them, that they might have. They're riding on daddy's coat tails. And I imagine if they weren't such spoiled little bitches, and had a sense of humbleness that their dad had, then maybe a lot more people would show them respect. CJNG has strong leadership, manpower, and the people are equally as scared of them has they were of Zetas in their prime. Guadalajara is an old school city so RCQ has to have some influence in both Sinaloas and CJNGs affairs. I imagine he would be the peace maker.
