Jalisco has autodefensas

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Reforma article

Subject Matter: Autodefensas
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

Reporter: Julio Cardenas
Before the criminality that plagues Colonias like Jardines Alcalde, in the Jalisco capital, locals are organizing to form groups of autodefensas. On social networks, locals using the hashtag #YoSoyAutodefensaYaBasta, are recruiting people with the intention to prepare strategies for security, like street patrols, and situations of risk.

"Already, we have 30 locals in the group of autodefensas. Now is the hour to repel the thugs that come in and steal, I don't care if I get shot, if that happens give my body to my family", said one person on social networks.

"If they meet people up to no good, before doing anything they send out a message so that others arrive in support and give them a good beating."

We even give the option to obtain permission to carry firearms, as well as instruction of use and practicing shooting. Although some users see this as a radical measure, most defend it as the last option in the face of the authorities inability to provide protection.

On Thursday night, the Municipal Police held a meeting with the Neighborhood Association, which did nothing to lower the perception that insecurity is increasing. On being questioned about the presence of the autodefensas, the Colonia president, Salvador Quiroz Nuno, considered it worrisome and said that the local police will be monitoring them.

" A surveillance group is being carried out and that is worrying, more so for the fact that they could be armed," said Nuno.

The Association cannot support it, but neither can it tell them not to do it, they are fed up with crime.

The Political constitution of Mexico established in Article 10 the right to carry arms in the home to guarantee self defence; however article 17 states that no one can do justice by his own hand. At the end of last year, in the Alcalde Barranquitas Colonia, locals came out at night to guard, carrying tazers, pepper spray, radios and cell phones to lower the amount of incidents, which were at the number 87 according to records of complaints raised.

  2. Menchos strategy to get those who flipped on him. It worked in Michoacan....Took a lot of territory atleast

    1. If he has to use this strategy again that means he doesn't control Jalisco which Ive been saying he was just inflated in the media. Either way hes starting to lose the territory. If its him he knows he cant do it himself, if its orher organizations means he's getting surrounded.

  3. Good luck to them, its a brave thing to do. I really hope it helps the situation, its sad when people feel they can't trust the police to fix the issue.

  4. Jalisco was he first state to create Autodefensas over 100 years ago. Not much was heard about it in contemporary times because they were the most successful. "no pasa nada". one third of Mexican states have autodefensas and meet in union each year. These groups are almost 100% indigenous blood.

    1. Was that the cristeros chivis?
They were defending religious rights and Cristo Rey,
the federales no podian ni a pujidos ni con la visitadora, after they agreed to an armistice they disarmed the soldiers and murdered General Christero Goroztieta like a fucking dog....

    2. Chivis how does law on possession and carrying of fire arms exclusive to armed forces not applied to auto Defensas

Another thing is why is it so bad to carry a Pistol of legal Calibr in mx? I under stand out law caliber and Weapon platplatf
But smaller caliber are also an issue

      Delete
    3. that is the gray area. They are allowed to have weapons and with permission or treaty arms elusive to armed forces, like they did in Michoacan then reneged. but for the majority of times, no they are illegal.
the other issue is that they are not supposed to take them from town to town.

    5. To begin with there is article 10
Article 10. The inhabitants of the United Mexican States are entitled to have arms of any
kind in their possession for their protection and legitimate defense, except such as are
expressly forbidden by law, or which the nation may reserve for the exclusive use of the
army, navy, or national guard; but they may not carry arms within inhabited places without
      complying with police regulations.

This is countered by Article 17
      No one may take
the law into his own hands, or resort to violence in the enforcement of his rights.

Article 39 is also relevant to the local government set up by the autodefensas
Article 39. The national sovereignty resides essentially and originally in the people All
public power originates in the people and is instituted for their benefit. The people at all
times have the inalienable right to alter or modify their form of government.

    6. The law concerning the carrying of arms for exclusive use of the armed forces may also be suspended under the following circumstances as outlined by Article 29

Article 29. In the event of invasion, serious disturbance of the public peace, or any other
event which may place society in great danger or conflict, only the President of the
Mexican Republic, with the consent of the Council of Ministers and with the approval of the
Federal Congress, and during adjournments of the latter, of the Permanent Committee,
may suspend throughout the country or in a determined place the guarantees which
present an obstacle to a rapid and ready combatting of the situation; but he must do so for
a limited time, by means of general preventive measures without such suspensions being
      limited to a specified individual.

Also it seems while carrying and possession is one thing tranaltranspor requires yet more red tape.

--the government, governors, congress, senate, military police, visiting mercenaries and other eminence's are lucky, the ink won't smear when they wipe their arsehoods with the Mexican Constitution or some of its finest copies...

rojas and allende among many other luminaries of Latin American communism

    2. Cartel / government tactics by implementation of their own for infiltration purposes is what led to this corruption in many countries.
IMO is why Mexico has a problem existing now.
Where corruption practices have become a norm for operations.
In the end; where money / power and influence dictates what can be achieved and how it’s operated.
Is this not the way the world works in many countries?

      No utopia exists!
We live to pay someone / many everyday regardless of where one resides. How else can they function and exist!
