An alleged narco trafficker from Mexico nicknamed El Gordo was presented this Tuesday in a New York court accused of trafficking Fentanyl in volumes capable of killing 10 million people said prosecutors.

Francisco N, 41 years of age, is an alleged member of the Sinaloa Cartel, led by El Chapo Guzman, also imprisoned in New York, the accusations against him show that this group of narco traffickers now are changing to this sythentic drug known as Fentanyl.

El Gordo is indicated as the Mexican connection in charge of sending Fentanyl to New York and of organizing a system of contraband in Arizona and California utilizing vans, cars and people.

Fentanyl is 50 times more potent that heroin, and is provoking an alarming amount of deaths through overdose, that totalled 1400 in New York in the past year. Two or three milligrams is enough to kill the user, according to USA functionaries.

Seizures of this drug are growing and the DEA confiscated 304 kilos in 2017; which meant an increase of 1030 percent over the previous year, officials said. Quiroz Zamora was arrested last year when he travelled to New York to receive money from an undercover agent posing as a drug trafficker.

In November he was brought before a Manhattan court that ordered him kept in prison, while his indictment was formalized on Tuesday.

US prosecutors said El Gordo communicated directly with their New York clients and organized transactions. He will now appear before a Manhattan court along with five other defendants.

The Mexican faces the serious charge of drug trafficking in the state of New York.
