Emeli, 11 years old, murdered by asphyxiation; stepfather suspected

Translated by El Profe for Borderland Beat from Periodico Central

The mother admitted that she was taken from her house to attend a party, supposedly forced by her husband, the stepfather of the girl, who was the victim of the sixth feminicide in Puebla this year.

By Edmundo Velázquez

Emeli, the eleven-year-old victim of the sixth feminicide in Puebla, was suffocated, according to the necropsy law that was stated in the preliminary investigation. So far, her stepfather is the main suspect and her mother has already testified before the General State Prosecutor's Office (FGE).

According to officials of the Prosecutor's Office in the area, the mother of the minor - sexually abused before being murdered - was initially questioned before the regional Public Ministry, but will have to go to the central building of the Prosecutor's Office in the capital of Puebla to give more details.

So far there is a key witness, her brother, 15 years old. The young man has provided important information about the events. Unofficial versions indicate that the teenager was not in the house because his stepfather ordered him to leave and arrange a stand where they sell vegetables every Sunday. This fact also leads to the stepfather being the main suspect of the feminicide.

The mother of the child initially reported that she called her daughter at eight in the morning and since she did not answer, she went to look for her in her room, where she was found lifeless.

In the extension of the statement, the mother admitted that she was taken from her home to attend a party, supposedly forced by her husband, stepfather of the girl. When she returned, she noticed that Emeli had been attacked.

The Attorney General of the State has ruled out one of the lines of investigation that focuses on the sale of the virginity of the eleven-year-old girl by the stepfather, as some of the regional media have handled it.

Emeli is seen off with white balloons in Tulcingo del Valle

More than one hundred people attended Emeli's wake, where her mother, Maribel Ramírez, was present, who demanded that the person responsible for the murder of her daughter be punished.

As reported by the newspaper, Cambio, the girl was laid to rest by neighbors and relatives. Her body was veiled in her grandparents' house on Monday, January 15 and [on January 16] the funeral mass was performed with her to be buried in the pantheon of Tulcingo del Valle.

Her funeral was attended by more than 100 people who carried white balloons.

  2. I'm glad you guys keep posting these stories. These stories need to be in the forefront. These heinous acts on women and children must be stopped. Along with the murdering of journalists. These are crimes that cannot be tolerated, and treated with impunity. Narco scum can butcher each other, and I can at least understand, but these cowardly acts should trigger major pressure from other governments to take action, or have action taken. This is sickening.

  3. Sick is right!A little girl deprived of her whole life to cover up someone's 5 minutes of selfishness.

    1. Canadiana,

      "5 minutes of selfishness"

      5 minutes of selfishness?

Although to some, many, or most child sexual abuse is unfathomable, 5 minutes of selfishness can never describe the act/purpose of child sexual abuse to some, many, or most.

If you have not seen the 1996 movie, Bastard out of Carolina, please take an hour and a half out of your time to watch it. And then ask yourself if the child in the article had no one except her attacker, no help in hell:

Could the child's deprivation of life have been better than the other alternative, which appeared to be her whole life submitted to sexual abuse, for her?

    2. You can bet these guys are low level cartel scum. They're the ones who have the sense of impunity to commit such acts.

    4. Years ago i put several articles about the serial killings in Jaurez. It got the same "is this cartel related" responses. In fact many were a result of drug use by cartel opporative and street gangs. Even Cops. So yes, some are. This wasn't however is does give insight into social settings and abuses occurring to the innocent. So, lets be open minded and show our respect.

    5. Not every crime against minor related children is "cartel related" just to satisfy the lower instincts of the "cartel idea" fans and lobbyists.
--Cd Juarez was blessed with the arrest and conviction of an Egyptian chemical engineer Adel Lattif Sharif who ended up living there after too many convictions on the US for sexual assault and illegally "restraining" his domestic workers.
He did the same act in Cd Juarez, but ordered some kidnappings and rapes to prove that IF he was in prison at the time, Mr Sharif could not be the rapist, other copy cats followed, it was BAAAD!, but when the FECAL president sent the Mexican army and polesias federales, THEY TURNED CD JUAREZ INTO A HELL the likes nobody had ever seen, because that what soldiers do, they plunder and steal and rape and murder as they see fit, disappearing people is what they can't be convicted of, because there have been no survivors found and the mass Graves found are always the fault of "the narcos".
-!I am sick and tired of the eternal poor government excuses for their poor excuse of a government, FUCK 'EM ALL!

    2. Quit blaming the mother. If it makes you feel any better she has to live with this the rest of her life.If she knew her guy was a pedophile and didn't leave to protect her daughter OK blame her but he probably hid that from her until it was too late. Some you would never suspect are peds. They are often pillars of the community.

  6. please dont treat females differently than males... I'm sure there are many many innocent men or boys that are murdered as well. Women are not special.

  7. Damn shame WE can't put a stop to this. This is past one too many. It is time to impose the death penalty in Mexico and end the amparo's.

  8. What a sick stepfather, wonder if this was regular child abuse, or just a one shot deal? Did the mother let this happen all the time.? I bet after killing her, the mother and son would be next in line to be killed.
